The new arena here in Las Vegas has officially been named the T-Mobile Arena.
I have a ticket to the first-ever event at the T-Mobile Arena on the day it opens in April: a show by local Las Vegas band The Killers (Willie Nelson, another local Las Vegas resident, is also on this arena opening show)- looking forward to going to and seeing the new arena in just less than 3 months from today!

Do you know what the seating capacity is suppose to be? I read around 20,000.

If that is for Hockey it would put it among the biggest venues in the league.

How would you feel about having the Coyotes relocated to Vegas instead of an expansion team? I'd prefer an expansion team because, as somebody who grew up going to Sonics games in Seattle, I personally know the pain of franchise relocation and I don't wish that on any other sports fan. I understand that is how Phoenix got their hockey team in the first place so it wouldn't quite be the same as taking away a team that started in a city and played there for over 4 decades, but I would still prefer an expansion team.

From what I read, I believe 20000 is the overall capacity. The hockey configuration looks to be 17500 which is the same as Columbus, Boston, and San Jose.
With the Board of Governors not voting on expansion at the December meeting, that's going to make any expansion team starting play in the 2017-18 season a challenge. Vegas, do you think the community momentum will sustain if the team doesn't start playing until the 2018-19 season?

Honestly I don't understand why the Board of Governors are holding off talking about expansion considering the league wants the cities to submit their bids asap.
I honestly think that the players union is all for expansion as they'll have more guaranteed income and an increase in the number of jobs. Sadly though I don't see ANY big names being made available to either new expansion franchise. Plus if both new franchises are successful it'll only increase the overall salary cap.
My only concern for expansion into Vegas is that team becoming another Coyotes situation. The Coyotes should have been moved out of the dessert AGES ago, and I'm shocked that the players union hasn't pushed for that to happen. Same with either Florida or Tampa Bay (both franchise struggle financially). If one team was to move out of Florida I'm sure the fans of the other franchise would migrate over to the other team.
I would honestly move the Florida team to Quebec and expand into Kansas and Las Vegas. If those two locations fall apart then those teams could eventually relocated to Markham (just out side of Toronto) and Seattle.
