Reading about this set brings back great memories of Saturday mornings on Channel 22 in Dayton, OH, at noon. For you younger fans who may not have been around, indulge me for a moment and let me share.
Some of my favorite memories of Memphis Wrestling - Jerry Lawler tarring and feathering Jimmy Hart, then the following week the First Family tries to get revenge, only for Dream Machine to get tarred and feathered as well. Dream Machine was fit to be tied! - The mandatory studio wide brawl that took place just about every week - Jerry Lawler and Bill Dundee offering to put up the tag titles against The Bounty Hunters if Chuck Malone would put up his hair. "Handsome" Jimmy Valiant comes out and lobbies to make the match a six man tag. Lawler and Dundee try to explain to Valiant that to get at Chuck Malone it has to be a four man tag. Valiant accuses Lawler of being jealous of him, it all goes downhill from there, commencing in an argument where Lawler uses what would now be called derogatory terms to describe Valiant, turning Valiant heel in the process. - Going back to The Dream Machine, pretty much anytime he was on the mic. Some of his favorite lines were "bawlin', squawlin', old time jubilee", "I DID walk that 32000 miles of barbed-wire fence", and "275 pounds of blue-eyed soul, ha ha ha". If Troy Graham had been around at the start of the Attitude Era, I am convinced he and some of the best talkers of that era could sell out arenas just by arguing with each other! - Jimmy Hart exclaiming, just about every week, at least once "This is the greatest day of my life!"
I would recommend you go to YouTube if you haven't already, and you'll see for yourself just what made Memphis so great
