Blood Rage!!!
Yeah, Blood Rage is what is keeping me up at night, what takes my focus off of what I am doing, what I wake up thinking about every morning. I spend most of my time on the internet looking for any kind of information on this game.
I kickstarted it, so, I should have it in my hands in about a month, maybe 5-6 weeks. I just know that this game is going to be awesome! Vikings, Norse Mythology, incredible miniatures, easy to learn game, fast-paced gameplay and very quick game time (about 90 minutes for a 4 player game).
This game is designed by Eric Lang, who is very well known for boardgames (Chaos in the Old World, for one). This game has card drafting, where you start out with 8 cards, choose to keep one, and pass the rest to the next person. This goes on until each player has 6 cards. I will have 6 clans to use (Bear, Wolf, Serpent, Raven, Ram [5th player expansion], Wild Boar ). Each clan starts out the same, but very quickly, your particular clan will begin to upgrade in various ways, as you play various cards (from the card drafting phase) to your clan sheet. Leader upgrades, Warrior upgrades, Ship upgrades, Clan upgrades (including the Mystics [expansion that was included in my kickstarter pledge]), Monster upgrades. There is 3 rounds, or Ages, per game, with a location on the board being destroyed from Ragnarok at the end of each Age. Then, the miniatures!! Each Clan will have a Leader, a Ship (with the head of the longboat being different for each clan), 8 Warriors (4 of 2 different sculpts), and 2 Mystics figures (I will have them due to the Mystics of Midgard expansion, included in the kickstarter). Then, the Monsters!! 16 total (4 of which are kickstarter exclusives): Dwarf Chieftains (2), Dark Elves (2), Soldiers of Hel (2), the Mountain Giant (one of the most incredible miniatures I have ever seen), the Sea Serpent, a Troll, and Fenrir (!!), the Wolfman, the Fire Giant (another awesome sculpt), and the Valkyrie (my only complaint in regards to the sculpts, as she should have been on a horse), a Mystic Troll, a Volur Witch, and the Frost Giant (another awesome sculpt).
I have watched 2 full play throughs, and both, I felt, really made me feel good about backing this one. Can't hardly wait for it...the game looks so, so great!!
