I have always been a die hard 1989 NWA/WCW fan...
But looking at the lineup for WWE Network WCW section, wondering if 1987 was not the real magical year?
Flair, Anderson, Blanchard, Luger, Garvin, Gilbert, Koloff, Rhodes, Simmons, Rock n Roll Express, Road Warriors, Windham, (orignal) Freebirds, Midnight Express, Rude, Fernandez, Von Raschke, Murdoch...

Well 87 had some issues....Luger and Rude were not nearly as developed much less Simmons who was a rookie at that point....Rude was only there for the first few months, Murdoch was on the downside of his career atthat point, but definitely a lot of talent still at that point.

Well I WAS drinking when I made that post, so I'll chalk it up to the booze talking. 1989 was far superior... Flair, Sting, Luger, Steamboat, Funk, Muta, Gilbert, Steiners, Road Warriors, Doom, Skyscrapers. Awesome stuff! Sent from my SM-G900V using proboards

If I recall. 1989 was also the year that Ric Flair made Sting a superstar and put him on the map. I believe that it was on a Clash of the Champions program.

'89 was terrific and the best year of business until the Monday Night Wars started.
With '80s Crockett being near and dear to my heart with my JCP bootleg project going on, I'd say that '86 was the best of the post-Georgia, pre-Turner years, though one could argue the promotion really hit its peak leading up to the '87 WarGames. Cracks started forming in the latter half of the year, Vince's power play on Starrcade was a huge blow, and then '88 was a series of disasters both large and small until Crockett had no choice but to sell.

1987 is a solid year but that's where the cracks in the armor started to show up. That's where Dusty started to get out of control booking wise and you could feel the void left by Magnum TA's injuries. You also had the product getting watered down by the purchase of the UWF.
1986 is a great year though. That's when the Horsemen get into full swing for the first time. You get the Magnum/Nikita series and other great stuff like that. 1985 is also a really great year.
I would rank the years as follows:
1989 1986 1985 1987 1988
