Thank you. Yes if there is one small silver lining to the Covid situation it's given more time to play. I play it on the quiet as my wife and kids just wouldn't understand. I use the COTGonline table for everything. Don't get me wrong, I love the cards and have them all but to sit there with it laid in front of me rolling dice would be difficult. Working from home means I can get on with playing, i have the online table open on a second screen. Play sometimes before i login to work, sometimes during if there are any lulls. Been great for that. I do look longingly at other feds where they are caught up and current but am determined not to miss a year or jump ahead. So I guess I'll never get there but that's ok. Will just keep going as I enjoy it. 2102 is proving to be a great year. I am pumped for my OTB. I just did the draw for the singles bracket and Chaos got paired with Buck Steele. Really hope Genocide appears. Nobody has been able to cope with Genocide so far, I wonder how Chaos will fare

Being caught up is cool but there are so many little things you miss if you dont play every year. I was ready to end Star WARRIOR and he busted out.
I still play cards as we have two offices at our home currently and I dont have the issue with children ... yet ... to deal with.

Card 750 – ONLY THE BEST (Hardcore) – Pelf Palace:
(Strange atmosphere at the Palace. It’s not a wrestling feel that everyone is used to. The steel cage sides have been replaced with platinum and the whole thing sparkles in an unnatural way under the lights. Fans are also kept towards the back of the darkest corners of the Palace arena. The first few rows filled with celebs and rich VIP guests who display very little passion for actual wrestling. There are even droids skimming around the ring carrying trays of caviar and champagne) ADDED ATTRACTION
Ladies champ, Supernova, defeats Cassandra. It’s a successful first match as champ for Supernova. She completely outclassed Cassandra in all departments and although it took a while to get there, including a failed pin after SPEED OF LIGHT, a smart sunset flip yields the victory. Not much time to savour it as later in the evening she receives challenges from Anaxis, Thrash and even Amazonia. They all think they should be next in line for a shot and will give him the GWF championship committee some serious food for thought.
FIRST ROUND
Mandrill knocks out Wolf. Having dominated the OTB cage tournament with three wins in the first four years Wolf has suffered a barren run in the last two. He is desperate to regain his crown as King of Hardcore from Mad Jester. So much so that he turned down Omega’s suggestion that he competes in the singles bracket for the first time since 2095. In a classic battle Wolf absolutely pulverises Mandrill but somehow loses in the end. Smashed him into the cage repeatedly and locked on SAVAGE FACE CLAW a couple of times. But no matter what he tries he cannot get out the cage. Mandrill is bleeding from early on but keeps ticking. Pulling Wolf back at every opportunity even when it looked hopelessly lost. Perhaps if Wolf had used the cage door he might of won but that’s just not his style. He refuses to accept the easy way out. Trouble is on one of his escape attempts Mandrill pulls him back right from the near the top and the fall this time doesn’t go well. Wolf hits a turnbuckle with the back of his head. Suddenly a slither of opportunity for Mandrill. He is so groggy that any attacks he starts to build are slow but at least they are hitting the mark. The way Wolf is trying to fend him off is symptomatic of concussion. Mandrill wipes the blood from his eyes and goes in with VOLTAIC STUNNER. The jolt is so severe that Wolf jumps backwards and hits the cage side which seems to slightly bend on impact. The crowd desperately urges a miraculous recovery but he’s out for the count and falls at the first hurdle. Mandrill staggers towards the door and virtually tumbled through it to win. Mandrill was so beat up after this I am thinking of carrying a token or two into his second round match (something I don’t normally do).
Mayhem beats Vyper with a suicidal leap off the top of the cage. Can Vyper match the glory of last years OTB? It was the catalyst of a run that ended with him winning the Heavyweight belt and becoming one of the most surprising champs of all time. Since those heights were reached his success has cooled off considerably but still remains incredibly popular for his entertaining psychological matches. Problems with spiders aside he is still considered to be an elite star. Unfortunately for a cage match Mayhem is probably the worst guy to get drawn against. The Gladiator is so crazed that no amount of snake handling is going to spook him. At least Mayhem cares little for gimmicks and that means no creepy crawlies to contend with. Although Mayhem does say in his promo that he plans to squash Vyper like a bug. From the minute that cage door is shut behind them both there is a fear for Vyper. Mayhem means business and seeks to get it over as soon as possible. Never short on confidence anyway but being the reigning Heavyweight champ always helps. Flies at Vyper in kamikaze style and within seconds of the match beginning has already buried his face into the cage sides. It is one way traffic after that. Devastating finish from Mayhem. Climbs the cage and rather than make an easy escape turns around at the top in one of the corners. Looks unsteady but manages to stand up. LEAP OF DOOM (+5) off the top of the cage brings gasps from the crowd. Takes its toll on Mayhem’s own body as having connected he limps away and struggles to get out. So much so that he is forced to take the easy way instead.
Bishop Hell burns Max Shield. Max looking sharp at the start. Perhaps he has got his swagger back. Bishop Hell struggling to stem the tide. Then it all goes wrong. Max makes the cardinal error of trying to run at Bishop Hell and bury him into the cage. Starts his run up from too far back and ends up burying himself as the Bishop moves out the way. As seen so many times before when someone collides with the cage that hard there is no way back. Although platinum is softer than steel it can still break bones. Bishop Hell drags Max up by the hair and hits FLYING CROSS a couple of time before igniting HELLFIRE just to be sure. Max left curled up in a ball inside the cage clutching his face after this.
Mad Jester starts his trophy defense with success over Mutant. Not too many taking bets on Jester repeating his surprise success from last year. However he at least looks a shoe in for the next round having got the plum draw. However, never underestimate Mutant in a cage. Cannibal has been starving it ahead of the match to increase the rage. As it enters and tries to eat the bars Jester looks on and gives a nervous laugh. It’s not often he is faced with something more off the wall than him. Although when Mutant fails to break away from his metallic meal Jester thinks this might be easier than he thought and starts to attack it. Only once it feels pain does Mutant react. Jester remains largely in control. Too quick and nimble to get cornered at any point and picking Mutant off slowly but surely. Only animal instinct keeps Mutant alive as long as it did. Eventually Jester uses a Jagged Edge Standing Kick which facilitates his escape. Rather than take any risks Jester chooses the door as his way out. No point giving Mutant a chance to grab him.
SECOND ROUND
Mandrill wins an epic against Mayhem to march into the final. Mandrill looks a lot better than he did earlier after eliminating Wolf. He’d come out of that a bleeding mess. There was still dried blood on his face but a look in the eye suggesting this tournament was there for the taking. Angered that he has been relegated to what he sees as inferior bracket and denied the chance to defend his singles trophy but still determined to win it. In doing so would be the first wrestler to win two different OTB brackets. However he has got to get past Mayhem first. One thing may help him though. After Mayhem’s awesome LEAP OF DOOM against Vyper he comes to the match with a pronounced limp. Mandrill sees this and hopes to exploit. What ensues is a brutal battle over twenty minutes long with lots of blood split. No way Mandrill could of taken this lightly despite the injuries Mayhem has. They are so evenly matched even though Mayhem takes less risks than usual (at first). Trying DANGER ZONE unsuccessfully instead of his big finisher instead. As the minutes tick by both of them just slug it out. Almost as if trying to escape will be too much strain on their fatigued bodies. Have to hand it to them for keeping going. There is so much to write but I’ll skip along to the ending which was dramatic. Mayhem starting to take more gambles and when he nails Mandrill with a vicious piledriver decides its time to finally end the match. Climbs to the top rope for LEAP OF DOOM. Only this time he decides it will not be the dangerous attempt off the top of the cage. His leg injuries mean it’s a slow climb to the top of the turnbuckle and gives Mandrill enough time to work out what will happen. Mayhem leaps as high as he can but misses the mark. Mandrill got out the way just in time and quickly unloads VOLTAIC STUNNER. Stick the fork in, Mayhem’s done! Mandrill has just got to get out the cage now. At first he stumbles, then drops and crawls but finally gets himself out the door and wins a thrilling match up.
Mad Jester eliminates Bishop Hell. What a match. The memory of the Defender of the Realm-Bishop Hell feud maybe a distant one but it was one of the most intense ever. In keeping with his zany antics Jester enters the cage bearing flowers as a gift and peace offering to Bishop Hell. Of course the Bishop knows it’s a trick but just not what kind awaits him. His response is to ignite his hand and burn them. The strange thing is there is nothing strange about them. But that was the trick or should I say diversion. As Bishop Hell is absorbed by the flowers Jester takes out his barbed rattle which has been strapped to the side of his trousers. Plants it straight into the Bishop’s back. Within a couple of minutes Jester is casually strolling out the cage to make the final. After that initial blow he was able to dominate Bishop Hell. He didn’t put his weapon down for a second and continued his beating. Nobody felt sorry for Bishop Hell due to his murky past and supposed current links with Blazing Skull. The only thing that comes out of it is that Mad Jester will be searched before his final match and of the barbed rattle is found on him then it will be confiscated.
FINAL
Mad Jester overcame Mandrill to win the cage tournament again. Mandrill has got no energy. That’s very clear as he ambles back into the arena. It’s been a hard road to the final for him. Jester, on the other hand, has barely had to break sweat. The cage isn’t in good shape and the platinum has bent under impact in some of the matches. One side of the cage is visibly uneven and probably best avoided for any means of escape. Mandrill does his best to combat his ailments and actually manages to damage Jester enough so that he can try and make an escape. As Mandrill is so tired he is not thinking too clearly and seeks an escape on the wobbly side of the cage. Dramatically the cage side gives way as he tries to climb it and the whole segment falls back on him. Nobody can believe what they have seen. With Mandrill pinned down and in agony Jester picks himself up and pulls the side off him. Then bundles Mandrill over to the other side and cackles as he delivers A DEAD MAN’S VERSE twice. Turns around and walks over the broken cage and jumps off the apron to claim the win. There is a delay whilst officials debate whether things can end this way and if the match should be restarted with a rebuilt cage. However the fact Mandrill is barely conscious probably makes the decision for them. The result stands and Mad Jester is now two time winner of the Hardcore bracket.

Card 751 – ONLY THE BEST (Tag) – Pelf Palace:
(Sonora Pelf changes some rules so that Colby and herself can be outside the ring when their ‘favourites’ wrestle, namely Centaurus Cluster. Teams are allowed their managers at ringside but there are still no disqualifications. She also makes the final take place as a futuristic Turnbuckle Shock match. The refs are unsure of what to do but in the end comply. Maybe some cash found it into their pockets. Many fans take to popular online apps such as Spacebook and Flutter to vent their fury over how the traditions of this popular event have been disrespected. Some of their abuse even blames Commissioner Grogan for allowing OTB to take place here and giving power to Colby and Pelf)
ADDED ATTRACTION
Heavyweight champ, Mayhem, swats away the challenge of Holocaust. The CPC continues to relax their stance on wrestlers within their same roster facing each other. Technically Holocaust is not part of their group this year but as he is managed by Reynard B. Guile they do have an interest in him. The fact he cannot score points for them as champ and deny Mayhem does still make it surprising. Perhaps Grogan has flexed muscles to stop them interfering with legitimate challengers. It is notable that Reynard B. Guile has not accompanied Holocaust to ringside so as not to upset Colby and Pelf. Instead he joins his employers in their private box to observe the action. Holocaust is certainly charged up as memories of feuding with Mayhem when he was part of WAR come flooding back. Of course that part of his career is behind him after a unpopular turn but he still holds the Gladiators in contempt. Gets given a great chance in the match when Mayhem misses LEAP OF DOOM. Only to fluff his lines as he goes straight for a death jump himself and makes a mess of it allowing Mayhem to recover and throw him down. Mayhem tries his finisher again and this time it’s a devastating +5 collision. Holocaust doesn’t move as Mayhem covers him to retain the belt. Suddenly things get real interesting. Mayhem is leaving the ring when Splatter meets him in the runway. Colby stands up in his seat aghast. Lottery attacks against the independent roster are supposed to be forbidden but of course relations have continually worsened with Krakan. This turns out to be a warning shot fired by the Hitmen. Splatter has been sent out to tell everyone the restrictions on the lottery are over as soon as OTB finishes. The placement of the announcement also fitting as a full on feud between the Gladiators and the Hitmen looks imminent. By putting the frighteners on Mayhem here it was a signal being sent out. Mayhem boldly moved towards Splatter but gets shouted at that if he gets any closer then his head will be taken off by Arsenal. Faced with that threat even Mayhem puts the brakes on. Instead he has to hang back and let Splatter retreat in his own time. You wouldn’t of thought Mayhem was the winner after this as he literally had steam coming out of his ears. His message back to the Hitmen is to watch their backs now.
FIRST ROUND
The Gamemasters shock Thunder and Overkill with a quick victory. Thrust back together again Star Warrior and Thantos aim to show they have still got it. Omega is a little concerned and to prevent any internal problems insists on accompanying his team. This gets Thantos’s back up a bit (especially as the Gladiators had to leave Thrash behind on Aethra because she is not categorised as a manager). He wanted to wrestle the match in the true traditions of OTB and doesn’t acknowledge Omega at all. However he remains professional inside the ring. If there is any bad feeling between the Gamemasters they are not going to let it affect them in the ring. They know they need to be at the top of their game and working together to stand any chance against the Gladiators. What happens next leaves everyone open mouthed. All looks like business as usual when Thunder starts against Star Warrior. A few moves are exchanged before Thunder gets the better of things and tags out to feed Star Warrior to Overkill. The huge Gladiator comes in and almost puts Star Warrior through the mat with a Gladiator Piledriver. Omega shouts in and urges Star Warrior to get out the ring for a breather if he can. His son, despite being groggy, hears this and does as instructed. Overkill impatiently goes after him whereupon Thantos takes advantage of the no DQ rule to jump off the apron and into the back of Overkill sending him crashing into a ring post. He then runs round the ring apron and takes Thunder by surprise by clotheslining him down onto floor. It buys time for Thantos and Star Warrior to work together to hoist Overkill back into the ring for ENDGAME. Omega looks a little taken aback by the aggression of his guys but says nothing. Instead he watches Thantos pin Overkill whilst Star Warrior was wise enough to cut the recovering Thunder off.
The Zodiac defeated Generation X by count-out. No knuckling down yet from Generation X. Carrying bottles of alcohol with them to the ring. A wobbly Grunge calls it ‘Rocket Fuel’. Johnny Rocket is loud and brash as ever leading his team out. Gets right in the Overlord’s face with the microphone teasing him about past events and how his own team doesn’t even respect him. Although the Overlord has the last laugh. In only three moves Mesmer strikes at Grunge with a Dark Side Dagger. Grunge falls outside and slumps against the barriers. Turns out he is completely drunk and cannot pick himself up. Although there are no disqualifications the referee can still lay on a count. It’s a slow one but Grunge isn’t getting up and the match is lost. Leads to uproar from Johnny Rocket that the rules were not made clear. He is blaming everyone for the outcome when he should of been tearing strips out of his team. They just cannot take wrestling seriously. The lure of boozing and partying too much for them again.
Centaurus Cluster remain hot as they beat Sam’s Squadron. Fighting talk from Sam but is it misguided? His promo centres around how his team is going to show Omega he made a bad choice in favouring Titan Fury over his team for MEGATOURNAMENT this year. The only way to do that is to carry off the OTB trophy. Beating the sitting tag champs will be a good way to start. Archon loves the competition and becomes spokesperson for his team “I look forward to a match fought in good spirit. Crossfire and I hold a lot of respect for Sam’s Squadron. They are good guys. I just hope the management will stay away to let us get on with it”. Unfortunately he doesn’t get his wish granted. Everyone out in full force, Sam on one side with Colby and Pelf (sipping champagne) on the other. Despite the distractions of everybody outside both teams just want to have a wrestling match and it’s a good one. Sam’s Squadron look good at the start with US. Patriot taking it to Centaurus Cluster and attacks being lined up with military precision. Don’t get it all their own way though and Justice finds himself struggling against Crossfire with BOW AND ARROW catching his attention. The teamwork and defensive tags of Centaurus Cluster are keeping Sam’s Squadron from getting too much momentum. Sam is frustrated and tries to rally his troops. Adam responds by grabbing hold of Crossfire and hurling him towards the turnbuckle but gets caught on the rebound. It’s a Flying Missile Shot from Crossfire. Archon instructs the youngster from the apron to go for the pin. Can see Adam is stunned from the move and it might just be enough. His guidance is spot on as Crossfire hooks in the cover and just about holds on to take his team through. Commander Sam outside looks very disappointed. His face looks as if he is ready to blow but just about holds it together.
Titan Fury blows Superiority Complex away. Lord Nexus is the only manager who doesn’t show up for his team. Like a few others he wants to keep the true tradition of OTB alive, “besides they don’t need me out there. I have every confidence in them to deliver and wrestle hard but fair”. Shame that’s not mirrored by their opponents. Morpheus knows his days in the GWF are numbered but still seeks any advantage he can. He wants to pillage as much glory as he can before the year is done. With the Gladiators already out and no Mercenaries in the tournament he must fancy Superiority Complex’s chances if they can negotiate this first round obstacle. They certainly could do with winning the trophy. No doubting they are one of the greatest tag teams of all time but success has really dried up in recent times. Winning this would remind everyone that they are still a force to be reckoned with. So there are high hopes but it soon turns into total disaster for Superiority Complex. Skinhead, who had been on a strong run lately, gets in a complete mess against Rising Sun. Cannot of been much more than 30 seconds gone by when he is being hit with DAY OF THE DRAGON having initially been taken down with a neck breaking clothesline. Morpheus cannot believe it and desperately tries to break up the move but just gets chopped down by an alert Rising Sun as Dragonmaster covers. Prodigy also tries to stop the pin happening but gets his foot snagged in the ropes and is too late. The Titans win in style and immediately get labelled the hot favourites to win the tag tournament. Said it so many times but Titan Fury is on the cusp of greatness. They haven’t quite captured any GWF glory yet and don’t want to continue being labelled as under achievers.
SECOND ROUND
The Zodiac are unstoppable against the Gamemasters. The Zodiac start as the big outsiders. The Overlord just considers it an added bonus they got this far. Mesmer tells him that this is his problem, no ambition and that’s why the team has failed so long under his leadership. There is no way this relationship can last but the Overlord is clinging onto control. He can see that this has been the most successful period the Zodiac has ever tasted and with another possible tag title shot to come doesn’t want to be relinquishing control easily. By the end of this match there is another reason to be trying to hold onto what he has got. His team forge an unlikely path to the final as they stun the Gamemasters. Omega’s hope that his legendary team ends their tag team days in glory comes crashing down. The Zodiac are simply brilliant from start to finish. Nobody is quite sure where their recent success has come from having seen the Zodiac toil for years. At first they dominate Thantos and he only just evades being pinned after SIGN OF THE ZODIAC and also the hypnotic trance of EVIL EYE. As Thantos gets away with it and tags out the expectation is that the Gamemasters having drawn the sting out of the Zodiac would surge back to victory. Not so, the Zodiac just switch their domination to Star Warrior and within a few short minutes are polishing him off with SIGN OF THE ZODIAC instead. Omega, Star Warrior and Thantos say nothing to each other. The silence is deafening as they walk away from the rubble of this defeat. Could be the last time we see all three men together in the same shot.
Titan Fury have too much for Centaurus Cluster to cope with. Colby and Pelf again sticking their noses in. They think that having seen Mad Jester already win the Hardcore tournament they can steer their guys to victory in all three brackets. Archon always looks uncomfortable with their presence and mostly ignored them again. Instead he offers the Titans a pre match handshake. Colby cuts Archon a frosty glance for fraternising with the enemy. No way Archon is going to change his ways though. His morals will not let him act in a way just to appease them. Pretty obvious this will be a rare match fought fair and square from start to finish as long as Colby and Pelf stay out of it. Probably unlikely they would get involved as they are often hands off at ringside considering any physical involvement as being beneath them. Their presence is largely just a statement more than anything else. A very even match takes place. Lots of tags from both teams without too much incident. Archon survives a Viper’s Sting from Dragonmaster and hints that he may get going on a roll after putting him in a Centaurus Leg Lock but the threat fizzles out. Instead Dragonmaster uses the sort of move synonymous with Archon against him by applying a Scorpion Death Lock. It’s a potent move but it’s still quite surprising to see Archon tap out to it. In the immediate aftermath Colby is making excuses for the failure of his team and says Archon had a back injury which the move aggravated or else he would never of submitted. Archon soon refutes this “no excuses from me. Dragonmaster put the move on me and had it so well locked in that the pain was too much. Congratulations to the Titans. They were so well drilled. I hope they win in the final as they deserve it. Maybe we’ll meet again soon in a title match”.
FINAL
The Zodiac easily beat Titan Fury to become shock OTB winners. Everyone’s got an opinion about whether it’s right or not but the Turnbuckle Shock match setting adds a bit of mystery about the final. Could be a bit of a leveller and give the Zodiac a better chance of winning. Certainly if they can deliver SIGN OF THE ZODIAC it will be even more effective as it is a turnbuckle based finisher. Lord Nexus isn’t worried though and believes this will be the night that finally puts Titan Fury in the category of tag team legends. He is gushing in his praise for them saying they have worked so hard and will not stumble now. Of course they need to be wary. The Zodiac has shocked the galaxy with their run and with wins over Generation X and the Gamemasters to get there will not be short on confidence. If anything they look the more assured of the teams during the entrances. This is new ground for someone like Rising Sun and he looks a little star struck by the occasion. As the match builds to a start the crowd goes quiet. The only sound for a few moments is those of the electrified Turnbuckles that hold such a charge in them that they crack and pop intermittently. Nobody wants to be touching one of those. Unfortunately once the match is given the green light the first recipient is Dragonmaster as part of the Zodiac’s finisher. SIGN OF THE ZODIAC sees him held and then pressed into the turnbuckle. His back smoulders as he then falls forward. Rising Sun doesn’t run to his aid as he was already bent over coughing from a violent kick into his stomach during the build up. The fact that the Titans had lost was amazing enough but it was the manner of defeat that resonated most. It arrived so quickly and the Titans never ever settled down. Living dangerously from the opening minute. Post match diagnosis sees Titan Fury on the end of a lot of criticism. As popular and exciting as they always are accusations that they are bottlers on the big occasions get levelled. Not to detract from the Zodiac’s triumph. What they have achieved is nothing short of amazing.

Card 752 – ONLY THE BEST (Singles) – Pelf Palace:
(Commissioner Grogan is wounded by some of the heat laid on him. By response he demands that Colby and Pelf show more respect to the real fans of wrestling. They are brought back to the first few rows on one side of the ring after pressure is applied. All the matches return to their traditional Titan Death format. The droids are still there serving drinks and ignoring the peasants but at least it’s a better atmosphere. Suddenly a buzz goes through the place as the first round pairings get announced. Chaos will face Buck Steele. Everyone hoping and wondering what might happen should Genocide appear in the match. Nobody has been able to cope with Genocide so far but then again nobody boasts power on the same level as Chaos)
ADDED ATTRACTION
IP champ, Nefarus, stands for no nonsense as he sees off Mad Jester. Two of the most hated guys in the GWF come face to face. It’s almost a competition to see who gets heckled the most. Nefarus loves hearing it. The enormity of things will probably be lost on the crazed Jester but winning the IP belt on top of of winning the Hardcore OTB bracket would be an outstanding achievement for the month. This is not lost on Colby and Pelf. As ever they are present at ringside and Colby indicates that tonight they will do what it takes to secure the belt. By doing so the independent roster will have all the titles and of course be in a strong position for the final months of MEGATOURNAMENT. Unfortunately Jester may of still been suffering the effects of OTB. The tournament had been incredibly draining and he barely lays a finger on Nefarus here. Colby, as promised, tries to get involved by storming the ring and nailing Nefarus with his wife’s loaded purse. He gets floored by a spinning back kick from Nefarus before he gets there and falls into a heap. No amount of money is going to save Jester in this match. Soon after Nefarus nails SCISSORDRIVER and it’s no laughing matter for Jester. The IP belt stays with the Colonizers. Word is that they are ready to try and add to this title as Mandrill prepares to make a demand to be given a shot at the Heavyweight belt. Perhaps a match against tonight’s OTB winner awaits to decide the next top contender.
Colby hates being embarrassed in his own Palace. The events in the Nefarus-Jester match see him return to his VIP box with Sonora Pelf and he throws the guests they had invited into it out immediately. Colby wants to sulk in private. He barely moves after this. The only flicker of life is to occasionally click his fingers to call in servants to attend to his requests. He might be quietly contemplating whether it is worth seeking revenge on Nefarus and the Colonizers but it could be a feud he doesn’t need. For a man who is used to getting what he wants the night hasn’t gone well!
FIRST ROUND
Buck Steele/Genocide wins the much awaited first battle with Chaos. What a way to start the event. Ever since Buck Steele arrived in the GWF and began his transformations into Genocide everyone wondered what might happen should he come up against Chaos. Genocide has destroyed all in his path so far. The only guy with the power to compete against him might just be Chaos. With part of the crowd replaced with true fans there is a much better atmosphere and they go nuts for Buck when he comes out. A huge Genocide chant goes up. The rich and famous filling other parts of the crowd look at them with disdain and deplore their common behaviour traits. But passion like that cannot be contained and Buck is one of the most popular guys around. Obviously reaction to Chaos is very much the opposite but it’s clear to see he is so arrogant that he thinks is above everyone. As he walks the runway a couple of celebs lean over the barrier offering a high five. He pushes their arms away forcefully in an arrogant snub. Once he enters the ring wastes no time getting into the action. Buck looks spritely to begin but one hit with a Galaxy Crusher soon takes care of that. Chaos begins to pummel Buck and clamps on BOW OF DEFEAT a couple of times. The die hard fans hope that Buck will transform into Genocide and burst out the hold but it doesn’t happen. Even Chaos seems irritated by this as he wants to take on this rampaging persona. In his frustration he throws Buck to the ground having not yet beaten him which proves an error of judgment. Buck comes back at him and remarkably ends a great passage of offence by nailing ROPE-A-DOPE FLURRY. It’s nearly a humiliating loss for Chaos. The danger isn’t over as a diving fist to head leaves Chaos hurt and also the Alpha Stone starts to flicker and then fades. This could mean trouble. Chaos weathers the storm as Buck tries to take advantage and gets back in top. Now in a weakened state he just wants to get it over with. Tries BOW OF DEFEAT again but Buck holds on. So Chaos slams him into the mat and then picks him up to try yet again (attempt number 4 in the match). Suddenly it happens, Buck starts to change and Chaos struggles to keep his arms around the growing body. Within moments there before him is Genocide breathing directly into his face. In his shock Chaos releases and steps back. Without his Alpha Stone Power he now feels very vulnerable. Genocide snarls and then goes on a rampage. Immediately tossed Chaos outside. Nobody has ever seen Chaos thrown around with such ease. A poor droid serving drinks then makes the mistake of getting too close to Genocide and gets ripped in half. An arm is picked up with sparks still flying out of it and used as a weapon. Chaos is then forcefully thrown back into the ring where Genocide picks him up for a Monster Choke Slam and then as a big setup move sequence goes for station-to-station head to the buckles. After all that Chaos doesn’t know where he is. The crowd goes mad as Genocide goes to one of the corners and mounts the turnbuckle. CORPUS GENOCIDE is coming! He hits the mark and then presses down with both hands on the chest of Chaos to cover him. Incredibly Chaos manages to push Genocide off him but it’s a split second too late and he has lost the match. Within moments the Alpha Stone has returned to life and Chaos looks galvanised. Now able to match Genocide he throws this wild entity from the ring. Genocide is still going crazy and kicks over anything in his path. Just when he is ready to get back in the ring and go after Chaos again security personnel (on order of Sonora Pelf) come up behind Genocide and try to get a controlling chain round his neck. When that fails another guy takes out a tranquilliser gun and shoots him in the back. Genocide staggers onto a knee. It takes two more shots to completely put the lights out whereupon Buck’s physical status returns. Having seen all this Chaos now chooses to storm off. He feels cheated that the failure of his Alpha Stone cost him the chance to take on Genocide on equal footing. He will surely be back to test himself against Genocide again in the future. There are question marks on whether Buck, having been shot with the tranquilliser, can recover sufficiently to participate in his later match.
Vengeance progresses past Alpha Force. Deep down Vengeance has been jealous of Mayhem winning the Heavyweight belt. As the unofficial leader of the Gladiators he feels that should be his domain. Outwardly he is saying the right things but inwardly nobody can tell. A guy like him can never be trusted and is always plotting. He was certainly happy that Mayhem’s obsession with blood lured him towards the Hardcore bracket leaving him a clear path to try and win the singles trophy. A prize, in his mind, far more prestigious. Alpha Force is confident he can do well against him though. Having enjoyed GALACTICON another good showing here at the second biggest event on the GWF calendar may give him another tilt at the title. Something that many thought beyond him as he has got a bit lost in the shuffle of incoming talent and recent matches punctuated with some unexpected losses (Mesmer twice, springs to mind). Only problem is it is very obvious from the opening minute that Vengeance is a man possessed and Alpha Force is going to have his work cut out. Very quickly subjected to Vengeance Spasm and a Gladiator Piledriver. A couple of early fatigue tokens on the board. Alpha Force uses his experience to slow the pace of the match and manages to latch on with Gamemaster Grip and give his fans hope but it’s a false dawn. Vengeance soon manages to turn the tide back in his favour by using the outside of the ring and typically diabolical tactics. Eye Cleaver is one of the most dangerous and draining moves around and when he uses it on Alpha Force and goes for a pin (unsuccessfully) looks like it may be the beginning of the end. Sure enough the next move is HELTER SKELTER. Alpha Force needs a roll above 10 to survive. That was never going to happen and all the recent good work is undone as he is eliminated in what had been a mostly one-sided match. Unfortunately Alpha Force just didn’t seem properly prepared or willing to mix it hardcore and paid the price.
The Matador comfortably sees off Jack of Diamonds. Jack seems to be a little fish in a big pond. Just wants to come out of the tournament with his head held high and not get beaten too soundly. His father, Exo-King, tells him he’s here on merit. His last words “believe in yourself and just go for it”. Easier said than done against the Matador who has been flourishing again recently. Jack does his very best but for every great move he can show off the Matador seems to have a better one. A little over 5 minutes have gone by when Jack gets struck by a Matador Death Run. The move forms a frequent setup for the big finish. As Jack slowly picks himself back up the Matador is straight on him with BULLWHIP and gets pinned. Matador makes it through without too much trouble and now awaits the winner of the next match. A possible meeting with his MVP rival Pegasus in the next round. A bout that could of been worthy of gracing the final itself.
Heracles wins a tough scrap with Pegasus. It’s been a tough last 2 or 3 months for Pegasus but he’s not been sulking. Omega always praises his attitude and hard work ethic which will stand him in good stead for tough times like now. With the MVP battle very much a two horse race with Matador any wins and points are vital. He needs to better or at least match the Matador’s OTB performance to keep pace. Heracles will be a difficult guy to get past. Growing more arrogant with every passing month and climbing the Citadel hierarchy tree. It’s no lie that Chaos favours power guys and shows him more respect than Janus for example. With Chaos now out of the tournament all Citadel hopes are pinned on Heracles. Another first round exit (Superiority Complex also bombed in the first round) will mark a disastrous OTB for Morpheus. Pegasus makes his entrance in a grand way. All designed to get under the skin of Heracles. Taking the mickey out of him by arranging for a simple chair to be painted gold and placed on a thick wooden board. Designed to mimic a cheap throne. Gets carried out and Heracles who was already in the ring, having been introduced first, looks furious his own style of entry has been disrespected like this. Leaves the ring and walks halfway up the runway to stop the procession. Pegasus rises from the throne and in an instant flies at the unsuspecting Heracles with a drop kick from his high point. Fantastic move that leaves Heracles hurt straight away. Pegasus then casually strolls past and into the ring to take the high ground and waits for Heracles to pick himself up and meet him. Anyone thinking this early advantage would set the tone of the match should think again. Heracles comes in and fights hard immediately and they are very closely matched. After about ten minutes action there is only 1 token on each guy. If anything Heracles is just shading it. Out of ring brawls start to regularly go his way and when he clutches a Heracles Power Clamp there is concern for Pegasus. With another fatigue token clocked up and a down-3 roll there is a vulnerability. If Heracles hits with OLYMPIA it might just tilt things in his favour. He doesn’t keep anyone guessing, points to the heavens and then charges at Pegasus. The move hits hard and sends Pegasus crashing backwards into the turnbuckle. Heracles then throws him into the centre of the ring and puts a boot on his neck to get the pin. Pegasus recovers quickly from this and punishes Heracles in the aftermath for that humiliating gesture. Sadly it’s all too late and another big name drops out.
SECOND ROUND
Vengeance gets past Buck Steele without the transformation happening. After what happened earlier it would of been no surprise had Buck not of showed but medics did an amazing job with him. Pioneering treatments administered to reverse the effects of the tranquillisers. A message from upstairs delivered to Buck before this match tells him that the same measures will be taken again if he loses too much control. Buck protests that he has no control over himself when he turns to Genocide or indeed even when it will happen but threat is left hanging over him. All this aside Buck’s defeat of Chaos has left a big impression. After that win the sky is the limit for him even though he does end up losing here. Vengeance is extremely smart and devises a way to try and reduce the amount pin attempts he might need to try and this make it less likely Genocide might appear. Repeatedly relying on Eye Cleaver add 1 moves to push Buck’s pin rating up without going for a risky pin that may not work. It has the desired effect, Buck starts feeling the effects and when Vengeance smashes him with a Gladiator Piledriver on the marble floor outside looks ready to be finished off. Vengeance pushes him back and into the ring and goes for the pin. Holds his breath as the ref pounds the mat but nothing happens to Buck. Vengeance breathes a sigh of relief and moves into the final. The Gladiators may be going through a lean spell on the tag team side of things but in singles they look really strong. Mayhem has the Heavyweight belt and now Vengeance, after years of under achievement, has a great chance of winning OTB.
The Matador wins a battle of endurance over Heracles. With Pegasus and Chaos out the mind of the Matador is wandering, is he dreaming of tournament glory already? He doesn’t start very well and takes an awful lot of punishment in the opening minutes. Pegasus seemed to underestimate Heracles in the last round and paid for it. The Matador appears to be making the same mistake. Losing here will mean no points scored and the opportunity wasted. Eventually he wakes up. It takes a thunderous clothesline that sends the Matador tumbling through the ropes and outside the ring to snap out of it. Heracles goes through the rope and walks along the apron laughing. Leaps towards the Matador ready to come down on him with an ax handle. Matador swivels from a crouching position and fires a quick blow into the exposed midriff of Heracles. The blow sends Heracles reeling and he clutches his stomach whilst coughing and spluttering. Suddenly we have a match on and the Matador is now working harder then ever. The chance to secure his first OTB title and move closer to MVP glory spurs him on. As the minutes tick by Heracles struggles to match the energy levels of the Matador. Instead relying on his great strength to carry him but even that begins to elude him as the lactic acid builds up. At one point he has to back of out an attempted body slam because he just doesn’t have the power left in his arms. It’s now a matter of when, not if, the Matador will win. By the time Matador hits BULLWHIP for a second time Heracles is up to 6 tokens. He has nothing left and doesn’t even attempt a kick out. Heracles gave it a good shot but the Matador was just too good.
FINAL
The Matador finally claims OTB glory after crushing Vengeance. It’s a final dominated by the Colby-Pelf team. They look happy in their VIP box knowing they are guaranteed their second tournament trophy and will be opening a nice lead up in MEGATOURNAMENT on the back of it. There will also be a new name engraved on the trophy as neither man has won this tournament before. Matador came close a few years ago but less said about that controversial incident the better. Although the Matador has most of the crowd backing there are a few that seem to get behind Vengeance. Not because he is popular but they want to see Matador lose so he doesn’t get too far ahead of Pegasus in the MVP points battle. Vengeance makes an incredible start. Almost wins in two moves after Eye Cleaver. Matador only saved because he fell down and his foot caught in the ropes. That’s about as close to the Matador that Vengeance got. The early scare is brushed off and the Matador completely dominates Vengeance holding him off with running torpedos, one-leg karate kicks and his famed Matador Death run. In an impressive finish a frustrated Vengeance swings lazily at the Matador. Completely misses as the Matador ducks under and just grabs Vengeance with BULLWHIP quick as a flash. The conniving Gladiator is virtually knocked out and easily pinned. The Matador is handed the trophy and holds it aloft showing very little emotion. Deep down he must feel this was the night he not only won the lucrative OTB crown but also secured the MEGATOURNAMENT MVP. If he gets caught now it will be a shock. Everyone is running out of superlatives for the guy. His career is filled with honours and GWF records and he is arguably the most complete and all round wrestler in history. Not withstanding the fact he was the first still active hall of famer. Remarkable.

GWF REPORT (MEGATOURNAMENT 2102 CARDS 749 - 752)
Champions
* GWF Galaxian Champ: Mayhem (Top Contender: Mandrill) * GWF Tag Champs: Centaurus Cluster (Top Contenders: The Zodiac) * GWF Interplanetary Champ: Nefarus (Top Contender: Buck Steele) * GWF Ladies Champ: Supernova (Top Contender: Maxine Babe)
Latest News:
The big winners at OTB were Matador, Mad Jester and the Zodiac. It wasn’t great for the hero team as they had some high expectations heading into the event. One guy who didn’t too well was Wolf. Omega tries to give him some honest feedback but gets a real prickly reaction. He should know better than to try and manage Wolf. There was also the failure of the Gamemasters to end their tag teaming days at the top. Having beaten the Gladiators they then stumbled against the Zodiac when the tag crown was there for the taking. The Zodiac were a surprise package and although their recent form has been excellent it should of been a match they could negotiate. Perhaps if all was well behind the scenes they might of fared better. One of the biggest talking points surrounded the first meeting of Buck Steele/Genocide against Chaos. The fading of the Alpha Stone cruelly robbed us all of a true test. Chaos was visibly weakened and lost but what happened after gave a teaser to what could happen should their paths cross again. Commissioner Grogan was irritated by Colby and Pelf at OTB. They changed some of the rules and turned the whole thing into a lavish event aimed at the rich and famous devoid of any atmosphere. By the time the main singles tournament rolled around buy rates had plummeted by almost 50% compared to the previous year punching a big financial hole in the GWF profit margin. As punishment he will not allow Pelf Palace to host GWF cards again in the future. There was also some heat between the Zodiac and the Overlord. Gemini and Mesmer refuse to share a cut of the prize money with their manager. Mesmer said he would of just wasted it on weird ceremonial stuff and using it to try and recruit followers. It’s just further evidence that the Overlord’s grip on the Brotherhood is slipping. Lots of laughter as Johnny Rocket has been conned into the ring for all three cards of the upcoming VIRGIN’S DIAMOND TOUR. He thought he was signing his wrestlers to matches against the WAR team and didn’t bother to check the small print. Now he has to step into the ring with various members of WAR and finally Destructon 3000 himself. Qualitar helped set the whole thing up to get him back for all hostility Johnny shows towards him when trying to share interview and commentary duties. Complaining to Grogan does no good. The Commissioner has had enough of Johnny and simply gives him the silent treatment during a tirade in front of everyone at the OTB press conferences. Talking of WAR, New Order are now back in action and Destructon 3000 says he will be pushing them hard to clear a match backlog. Due to Mace’s suspension several planned bouts were missed. He expects Mace to tow the line and focus on making the team successful again. Despite almost a decade in the GWF they only have one single and brief reign as the tag champions. Not good enough for a team who are considered among the elite tier of tag teams.
Mandrill has virtually everyone eating out of his hands on the villain team apart from the Citadel guys. Most of the existing villain managers can now see that Morpheus is toast in MEGATOURNAMENT. The betting is that Mandrill is on the cusp of becoming the main villain guy even ahead of Chaos. It may still take a couple of years but in the interim most managers are trying to build good relations with him. Darkos, Johnny Rocket and the Overlord have even been rumoured to of made several payments or ‘tributes’ to Mandrill to ensure that he trusts them and sees their teams as future allies. Those who haven’t may well be skating on thin ice with Mandrill if he ever fully takes over. Krakan calls a press conference to officially announce that Splatter is off leash to conduct his lottery attacks against anyone he pleases. Krakan tires of the politics with Colby and Pelf and tells him to just go for it. He was pushed out of the CPC’s inner circle quite some time ago. Then losing the belts to Centaurus Cluster a few cards ago and seeing how Colby and Pelf blatantly favoured Archon and Crossfire as the top independent tag team was the final straw for the Hitmen. OTB was chosen as the stage to show things were changing and also set the rivalry with the Gladiators officially underway. So now Krakan is just going through the motions (much like the Gladiators) waiting for 2103 and all that it will bring. The galaxy licks its lips waiting for the Hitmen and Gladiators to take each other on.
Having seen off Mad Jester it looks like Vyper is ready to dive in head first to another offbeat feud. Mesmer is the target. This has come about because Mesmer contacted him and offered to hypnosis to help overcome his fear of spiders fully. Showing a total distrust in Mesmer and knowing that this would all be a brainwashing setup Vyper gets his own back. Shows up for the session in a small dimly lit room and plays along until Mesmer tries to start. Suddenly Mollock bursts through the wall startling Mesmer and throws Vyper a bag. With Mesmer pinned Vyper pulls a huge snake out and says “let me introduce you to Fido. He’s going to help you get over your fear of snakes. Now look into my eyes and tell me you’re not scared”. We never did find out what happened after that but Mesmer is obviously seeking revenge as a quick look in the GWF calendar reveals some upcoming confrontations with Vyper.
The GWF FILES are released and becomes a best seller across a multitude of galaxies. Online orders go through the roof on jungle.com and other popular websites. Qualitar makes a grand gesture by donating half the profits to charity. He is set to be awarded a Cosmic Ring (a futuristic variation of the Noble Peace prize) at the end of the year. INJURED – none; SUSPENDED – none WHOSE HOT ... Matador, Vengeance, Nefarus, Buck Steele, Mandrill, Supernova, Zodiac, Titan Fury WHOSE NOT ... Pegasus, Chaos, Wolf, Max Shield, Blazing Skull, Generation X, Superiority Complex, Thunder and Overkill MEGATOURNAMENT STANDINGS CPC 463, Omega’s Heroes 429, Morpheus’s Villains 342 (Morpheus’s hopes of survival continue wasting away after a poor OTB. Omega speaks candidly for the first time about why he believes Morpheus and his team of villain superstars has failed so spectacularly, “we got the balance right. So did the CPC. Morpheus has too many guys looking out for themselves and going after one thing which is the Heavyweight belt. It’s the classic saying of too many cooks spoil the broth. His other big mistake is paying no attention to the tag team side of MEGATOURNAMENT. They have been really weak in that area. It’s not all about the singles stars”. For now though maybe Omega needs to focus less on analysing where Morpheus went wrong and more on trying to catch Colby and Pelf’s team. The heroes have slipped back as the CPC enjoyed a dominating OTB tournament. In the MVP race Pegasus is now desperately playing catch up after losing more ground to the Matador. He blew it big time against Heracles and then watched his big rival storm to victory in OTB) MVP STANDINGS: SINGLES: Matador 99, Pegasus 80, Janus 68, Mandrill 57, Raven 55, Alpha Force 50, Chaos 50, Mayhem 48, Wolf 42, Bishop Hell 39, Vengeance 38, Colussus 32, Heracles 26, Pulsar 23, Monad 22, Holocaust 21, Mad Jester 20, Max Shield 19, Splatter 10, Enigma 8, Johnny Rocket 1 TAG TEAM: Thunder and Overkill 78, Mercenaries 71, Gamemasters 40, New Order 35, Superiority Complex 27, Generation X 21, Titan Fury 20, Sam’s Squadron 19, Centaurus Cluster 17, Henchmen 10, Flamboyance 4, Pillars of Power 2, Watchmen 2 WOMEN: Amazonia 38, Anaxis 20, Thrash 16, Cassandra 4 WRESTLER OF THE MONTH: The Matador – Who else could it be? Comes through to win ONLY THE BEST and in the process boost his chances of becoming the MEGATOURNAMENT MVP. Others on the Independent team have had their moments but it’s fair to say without him things could of been very different for the CPC. Without doubt he is Magnus Colby’s best business deal ever! TAG TEAM OF THE MONTH: The Zodiac – Everyone scratching their heads. The Brotherhood is in turmoil with its existence hanging by a thread. Yet the Zodiac is experiencing their greatest career run. Things could get even better if they go on to take the tag titles. They might just get given another stab at the belts having run Centaurus Cluster close last time out.

Card 753 – VIRGIN’S DIAMOND TOUR – Cor Coroli Diamond Dome:
Raven knocks Johnny Rocket all over the ring. Fans really up for this. They cannot wait to see Johnny get a pasting. A petrified Johnny brings Monad to ringside with him for protection. The four armed creature fancies its chances against Destructon 3000 and constantly tries to engage him before the bell. Monad can only be ignored for so long. Destructon 3000 eventually cracks and picks Monad up clean above his head and throws him into the ring. It’s done with such force Monad goes right through to the other side and falls through the opposite ropes. Both Raven and Johnny stopped inside the ring as they saw the body fly past them. It’s a bad sign for Johnny as he might not get any help now. He wills Monad to pick itself up off the floor. It does but it’s dazed and confused and pretty much powerless to help Johnny who lasts about two minutes before a WAR Gun ends the match. Post match Destructon 3000 gets fans buzzing by saying “if Monad wants to take me on so badly then I’ll give him a match on the next show. Monad will soon regret it though”. Just when everyone is getting excited about that a news flash breaks. Splatter has attacked Raven after selecting his next lottery victim. He was waiting until Destructon 3000 was out of the way before pouncing. The beating took place as Raven was alone at the onsite gym doing a warm down routine. More on this later. New Order beat Generation X by DQ. The GALACTICON match that never happened finally takes place. As the losers Generation X will probably be relieved it happened here rather than the bigger stage this meeting was originally slated for. The main talking point was the non appearance of Johnny Rocket who was busy backstage sweating buckets over his having to wrestle later. Back and forth action comes to an end when MACE’S LITTLE HELPER on Metalhead sees Grunge storm in guitar swinging. Rarely ever a clean finish whenever these teams meet.
Enigma beats Stalker in a count-out. Enigma totally dominant. Stalker suffering a patchy run as this comes so soon after his humiliating loss to Vengeance in about 30 seconds. He was riding his luck from very early on having had to be saved by Terak twice following FEET OF FURY. Ends up taking a head butt from Enigma’s mask and falls out the ring to be counted. Enigma keeps trying to lay the boot into Stalker afterwards but meets a grisly fate at the hands of Mollock. Picked up and choke slammed into a nearby table leaving him in bad shape.
Hunter’s Moon looking good as they beat the unmasked Demons of Hydra. It was a Titan Death match to spice things up further. Hunter’s Moon thought they’d missed their chance when Wildcat missed WILDCAT STRIKE earlier in the match against Hydra. Vyper saves his blushes with an inspired performance and pinned Demon after VYPER’S SIDESHOW. He was showing no ill effects from some of his recent traumatic incidents.
Dreadnaught defeated Exo-King by count-out. A cool match full of retro charm goes the way of Dreadnaught. The King has a lot of offense but then missed CORONATION CEREMONY and got himself hurt. He’s not as accurate as he used to be! Dreadnaught celebrates but looks a bit lost. He may have to get used to life on his own with his partner set to retire very soon although he did cope quite well to grab a rare win.
Ms. Liberty uses THE LIBERATOR to see off Thrash. Both ladies have been pretty quiet of late in the GWF. It is Ms. Liberty who storms back onto the scene with a dominating win. Thrash’s poor results continue. It is clear that Ms. Liberty is a bogey opponent for her as Thrash has lost most times they have met.
***LOTTERY ATTACK UPDATE***
Worst fears are realised. Raven took a nasty beating at the hands of Splatter. He was just doing a work out in the gym to loosen the muscles when suddenly the lights went out. Next thing he knows is something hard coming across the back of his neck. When the lighting comes back on he looks up to see a grinning Splatter stood above him with his weapon raised. The last thing he hears before being knocked out is Splatter saying ‘congratulations you’ve just won the lottery’. Arsenal was then smashed across numerous parts of his unconscious body and he was left bruised everywhere. His whole team rages when they hear that he will be laid up for 7 cards (almost 2 months). They want Commissioner Grogan to take harsh action on Splatter. Grogan says he needs to consider the case carefully and will wait 3 cards before making his announcement.

Card 754 – VIRGIN’S DIAMOND TOUR – Arcturus Parthenon:
Tag champs, Centaurus Cluster, beat the Zodiac by DQ. Can Mesmer conjure another surprise? The form of the Zodiac continues to have everyone scratching their heads. Never saw this team as having anything approaching the capability to win OTB and now they have a chance to grab the tag straps. Colby and Pelf look anxious at ringside. They are desperate to keep the two main belts under their control. The longer they have them the greater the chance of racking up the points for MEGATOURNAMENT. Although both Mesmer and Gemini are at odds with their manager, the Occult Overlord, they still let him accompany them. Perhaps recognising the importance of the occasion and how every little advantage that can be gained might make the world of difference. Unfortunately it is the Overlord who costs them as Centaurus Cluster just about escapes with the belts. In a tough match Crossfire manages to get Mesmer in a spot and fires off BOW AND ARROW. In the ensuing melee the Overlord slips Gemini his staff and distracts the ref. Gemini then knocks Crossfire out before Mesmer can be pinned. The ref is just about to turn and make the count when he suddenly smells a rat and pauses. Goes with his instincts after putting two and two together. After a quick word with another ringside official to confirm suspicions he admonishes the Overlord and disqualifies his team.
Vengeance gets a huge win against Wolf. Ever since stumbling in the opening round at OTB in the cage tournament Wolf has been raging. There is nobody better than to blow off steam than against one of his Gladiator enemies. He is especially riled when Vengeance proclaims ahead of their match that his Eye Cleaver is a more effective move than Wolf’s pathetic SAVAGE FACE CLAW. Wolf simply says “let’s see shall we”. There is very little posturing as Wolf goes for the jugular straight away. An intense battle doesn’t last all that long. Wolf’s early intensity is snuffed out and Vengeance forces a big win via Eye Cleaver. He keeps working at Wolf’s eye even after winning to prolong the torture. With Wolf struggling to see for the blood filling up in his eyes he struggles to fight him off. Vengeance keeps at it and then strikes with HELTER SKELTER again and again. Only the New Order storming the ring brings an end to this vile attack. Vengeance has been waiting for a moment to eclipse Mayhem and this was it. The post match news isn’t great. Wolf will be injured for 6 cards but thankfully no lasting eye damage other than a battle scar likely to remain just underneath. Vengeance won’t get away with this though as Grogan tells the media he will consult with the disciplinary board and announce a suspension verdict at the same time as Splatter’s.
Killer Queen wins a brutal match over Death’s Head by DQ. Queenie gets violent! Wears a glove with metal studs. The naive ref accepts his story they are just made of rubber and for decoration. Soon becomes clear that there is more to them than that when one punch draws blood. Has also hidden a blade in the boots which comes out the moment there is a close up grapple. Queenie expertly conceals it from view as he tries to carve chunks out of Death’s Head. Even Cannibal outside doesn’t pick up on what’s happening although the amount of bleeding is much more than expected. To be fair to Death’s Head he is tough and takes it. A sharp fingernail in the eye forces Queenie to release him during the blading. Death’s Head isn’t quite so stealth like in his own mannerisms. As a payback for all the blood spilt he takes a hold of one of Cannibal’s skulls and smashes it right into Queenie’s face. The bell goes but neither guy cares and continue their brawling. Right up the runway and through the curtains. Not sure what happened after that.
Mace crushes Johnny Rocket. Johnny keeps on with his complaining but nobody bats an eyelid. So he changes tactic and starts blagging it instead by going straight up to Mace and squaring up. Thinks if he looks confident then maybe Mace will have some self doubt. Looks pretty ridiculous as Rocket stands there looking puny in his singlet. Mace lets him have a few free hits. Johnny thinks he’s got this in the bag and another massive upset is imminent but the ruse ends when Mace suddenly grabs him by the throat. Johnny is now in all sorts of bother. He gets dropped like a rag doll and tries to beg off but Mace keeps on coming. Within moments it’s over after MACE’S LITTLE HELPER. At least it’s short and sweet again. One more match for Johnny to get through now. Monad takes advantage of a glitch in the matrix to upset Destructon 3000. Normally this is one to get excited about for Destructon 3000. Always a special occasion when he wrestles. However his mind is on Raven and what Splatter did to him. He’d rather be with him assisting in the rehabilitation than caught up in this. Best to get it over quick as possible. However things don’t go as planned. After initially hurting Monad with a Robotic Rammer there is some malfunctioning of the internal circuitry which switches on the pain sensors. Monad is able to fight back and win with QUADRUPLE CLAMP. As the ref raised Monad’s four arms Destructon 3000 manages to fix the glitch and pulverises Monad leaving it in an unconscious heap. It’s more bad news for Johnny Rocket as Monad is now too hurt to be at ringside with him later on.
I was stunned by this considering Destructon 3000’s stats but I guess if Monad gets a sniff of offense above level 1 he is very dangerous. That’s what happened here and it ended up being so relentless that even Destructon 3000 couldn’t cope. Not the first time he’s been embarrassed like this either. It happened a few years ago against Tendron. Sometimes those dice shock me. Not going to make a huge thing out of this though. Monad might get a rankings boost but nothing major. Titan Wrestling get the better of Satanic Panic. Bishop Hell finally gives into the Overlord‘s requests to team up with Pharaoh Khety. It’s only taken several months to get him to agree to it. As the crowd heckles the Overlord whispers to Bishop Hell that he will soon convert them into becoming his followers but the Bishop just laughs as he hears this. He then takes his spot on the ring apron ignoring his manager and passes the buck to Khety. Doesn’t offer his hand for a tag once or attempt any pin saves. Khety is on his own and it gets worse when the Overlord gets ejected from ringside after irritating the ref. All things considered Khety did ok on his own but eventually falls to SHOTGUN CRADLE. Ursa Major just kept on using the move until it worked.

Card 755 – VIRGIN’S DIAMOND TOUR – Denebola Spiral Arm Stadium:
IP champ, Nefarus, lost to Buck Steele by DQ. Genesis are seeking to get the upper hand back off the Colonizers. Nefarus has come from nowhere to become the most effective member of their team. However Buck Steele is not short on confidence at the moment. He knows if Genocide appears and can control his temper then there is a great chance of delivering the Interplanetary belt back to the Genesis team. Buck is being vigilant at the start. As if he is expecting members of the Colonizers to storm the ring at any moment. It takes a few minutes to fully relax but once he gets going shows some impressive stuff. Hits ROPE-A-DOPE FLURRY three times in a row. Nefarus survives the onslaught but is seeing stars after that. Unfortunately Buck misses a flying forearm and a well timed spinning back kick puts Nefarus on top. Nefarus tries to get Buck pinned without provoking Genocide but cannot manage it. On this third cover attempt Genocide bursts forth. Incredibly Nefarus manages a pin attempt on Genocide after getting out the way of a turnbuckle charge but gets immediately thrown off. Although Nefarus is getting a pounding he is finding it possible to intermittently hurt Genocide which gives encouragement. It’s by far the closest anyone has run Genocide and what’s more Nefarus avoids getting pinned. He actually only loses by DQ in grabbing a chair and claiming he’s defending himself. Looked more as if he played for that. Things seem like they have calmed down as with the action at an end Genocide shrinks back into Buck Steele. Suddenly a Colonizer plan moves into action. Nefarus signals somewhere towards the back and the Watchmen move out the shadows. The unsuspecting Buck is hit from behind. The transformation (as the Colonizers have learned) is unlikely to happen so soon after the last. Buck is beaten with metal bars and then Nefarus demonstrates his leg power with SCISSORDRIVER several times. Poor Buck is left in quite a bad way and stretchers are deployed. Things get interesting later as it seems the Colonizers might not get away with this. The Commissioner is looking into whether things went too far. There is a big shock in the morning as he shows no leniency and delivers a verdict of a 5 card suspension and as this means Nefarus cannot defend the IP belt next month the belt will be stripped from him. How the vacancy will be filled is still to be determined. The plan of Nefarus has backfired spectacularly. News on Buck reveal some back injuries set to last 5 cards.
In my fed if a champion is unable to defend their belt during the month they are usually stripped. Technically depending on when they last defended the longest suspension someone could get away with is 6 cards if the numbers fall in their favour. There may be occasions when I overlook this and special dispensation maybe granted. However most of the time the way I look at it as if a champion was dumb enough to do something warranting a suspension then the penalty of losing the belt is warranted. It’s a bit different for injured guys. Have a little more sympathy and give it greater thought. Usually I have them defend still and wrestle through their injuries with the adjusted stats. The GWF is a tough battleground and sometimes harsh things happen to the belt holders. I suppose in a long winded way I am saying I have a guideline but each incident will also be looked at on a case by case basis. Not that I like lots a vacancies but the occasional one is always a good excuse for a tournament which is always a favourite. That’s why ONLY THE BEST is always the show I look forward to most. Destructon 3000 creams Johnny Rocket. After the distaster of losing to Monad it is clear Destructon 3000 wants to sort things out here. He has had a full check up on his internal circuitry and a firmware update to ensure no repeat. The toll of matches shows on Johnny. He is a total misery guts all week knowing he would be a guinea pig for Destructon 3000 to show his robotic powers off. He tries to get out of it by brandishing a fake doctor’s report saying he is not fit to wrestle but officials see through the deception and detect the forgery. The fans loving watching him squirm. He darts all over the ring trying keep away from Destructon 3000 as long as he can. Works for a while until his nearly gets his head taken off with a Destructon Detanator. For the sake of a show Destructon 3000 keeps the action going for a few minutes. Johnny is offering no resistance and eventually Destructon 3000 takes pity on him and finishes with VULCANIZER. Johnny doesn’t say much when Qualitar later thrusts a mic in his face. Has too much of a head ache to indulge him. All he does comment is that he will be getting Qualitar back for all of this when he least expects it.
Mesmer outwits Vyper by getting him so angry so as to lose by DQ. This is intense. One wonders why Mesmer has set this feud up what with so much pressure on the Zodiac at the moment and their pursuit of tag success. Clear that Mesmer is pushing hard to grab headlines and get himself up the card after years of toiling. Vyper seeks an edge and throws one of his snakes at Mesmer to start the bout. Mesmer doesn’t flinch. Let’s the snake slither over him and inside his cloak whereupon it vanished into thin air. Was this slight of hand or was Mesmer using actual magic? Anything is possible in the GWF. When Vyper realises the snake is gone he screams ‘Fido’ and rips the cloak off Mesmer frantically searching for it. Mesmer moves in on him. Vyper fights back hard. Too hard, fuelled by a potent mix of worry and rage ends up violently attacking Mesmer. The breaking point when he was trying to see if Fido had crawled under the ring whereupon he found a discarded baseball bat. Thinks what the hell and swings for Mesmer drawing the bell. Before he hits Mesmer he seems to get caught under his spell and breaks off. All very strange. Vyper later finds Fido curled up in the showers after hearing some screams. Quite how the snake got in there remains a total mystery. New Order destroyed the Henchmen. Continuing to try and climb the rankings and show they can be trusted to fight hard and fair but why is Mace in such a hurry to try and win this? He demands Dreggs tags him in straight away. Maybe he has got somewhere better to be. Within in a minute he has winded Dreadnaught with MACE’S LITTLE HELPER and it’s a wrap. Mace’s will to win soon gets explained when minutes before the match he learned that in a pathetic attempt at payback Johnny Rocket somehow got a 5 minute time limit put on the match. The stipulation being if New Order doesn’t win it in that time they automatically lose the match. Aftermath, Grogan wants GWF head office security beefed up as he is worried Johnny was able to get access to sensitive documents and alter the contract.
Superiority Complex defeated Ram and Holocaust. The right result as Holocaust tries SHOCKWAVE against Skinhead but overloads. He was only in that position because Reynard B. Guile has slipped him a foreign object after BAD ATTITUDE. Entertaining stuff afterwards. Morpheus got so irritated by B. Guile that he gets a hold of him and delivers TRIP TO HADES. Not often we hear the fans cheering Morpheus but they did for that.
Pulsar needs just two moves to beat Darkos. First move is Star Smasher and then straight in with ACID RAIN. Pulsar was full of beans. The Collector was not at ringside to drag him down. Rumoured to be busy at some Galactic Bazaar trying to secure a sale of some bogus artefact. Not often we see Pulsar smile but he was in good spirits tonight.

Card 756 – NETWORK DEIMOS WRESTLING – Deimos Intergalactic Arena:
(During the show Commissioner Grogan makes an announcement from his office. He says the vacant Interplanetary belt will be filled via an 8 man tournament with matches to take place over the next month. The final will be part of the upcoming FRIGHT NIGHT Supercard. No details of combatants known yet but it is clear that neither Buck Steele or Nefarus will be a part of it. Qualitar manages to get some words via live link with Max Shield right at the end of programme. He asks Max about it and if he intends to enter to which Max replies “I’m pleased with the decision. Nefarus got what he deserved. As for whether I’ll be competing that is something I really don’t know yet. The IP belt is still a bit of a sore point for me and there are other priorities”. So doesn’t sound like Max is going to be involved either)
Heavyweight champ, Mayhem, wins a close match against Mandrill. This is the moment Mandrill has been waiting for. The chance to boost his takeover plans by winning the main belt for the first time. He arrogantly says “victory will be mine. Mayhem has been keeping the belt warm for me”. He already has a recent win over Mayhem at OTB which might play on the mind of the champ. Not that Mayhem is known for thinking too much about anything. Perhaps the arrogance of Mandrill is too much though. Earlier in the week when the latest copy of GWI mag came out Mandrill had posed for the magazine cover with a replica Heavyweight belt ahead of this title match. He is so convinced he will win and justifies the pic as a placeholder for future glory. It doesn’t take a lot to enrage Mayhem but when he saw this the reports were that he trashed the hotel room he was based in and nearly got arrested. Come the match up itself Mandrill looks totally focused on his ring approach until the glistening belt sat on the announcer’s table catches his eye. He allows himself a momentary gaze. It’s all Mayhem needs to fly at him and take the early ascendency. Floors the unguarded Mandrill. It’s a surprise attack but Mandrill fights back quickly. Just like OTB it’s a long, bruising battle. It’s a good 10 minutes before there’s even a pin attempt. Midway through the match the Watchmen are on standby. Take a position at the end of the runway but seem to resist doing anything more. They don’t want to be making enemies of the Gladiators and their probable reason for being there is in case somebody like Genocide makes a run in. Mandrill is twitchy about this especially after what they did to Buck Steele a few cards ago. It as if their sudden presence is detected by Mayhem as it seems to spur him on. Puts together a sustained sequence of offensive moves and goes to the top. Looks like he may not of immobilised Mandrill enough but LEAP OF DOOM (+4) still hits the mark. Mandrill incredibly manages to get a shoulder up. He is not giving up the chance to win the belt easily. However, Mayhem is like a man possessed now. Not going to let this slip. Immediately goes for DANGER ZONE and it is the straw that breaks the camel’s back for it yields the pin fall. As the ref hands Mayhem back the belt he spots the Watchmen lurking in the distance. Finding energy from somewhere he breaks into a sprint to go after them. The Watchmen don’t stand their ground and they scarper before Mayhem gets anywhere near them. Ladies champ, Supernova, survives a social media storm to punish Maxine Babe. Lots of jealous women eyeing Supernova’s prize. The latest was Maxine Babe who had worked herself into a surprise position to challenge for the belt. Maxine knows she probably cannot win but resorts to unsettling her opponent before the match. She is big on the social media thing and manages to start a rumour that gets ‘Fluttered’ over and over that Supernova has a tattoo in a private area of Morpheus. Sometimes people are so gullible as it gets believed by a few and snowballs. Supernova is too shy to prove otherwise and her father, Omega, becomes mortified at the media storm this generates. By the time Supernova arrives in the ring the rumour is at its height and she looks pretty distressed. Doesn’t know whether to cry or explode with rage when she sees Maxine Babe. After a short pause she chooses the latter. All Maxine can do to try and cope with the barrage she is faced with is to use spiteful counters. Biting, pinching, slapping and scratching but each time she does Supernova comes back even angrier than before. Not a question of if but when it will be over. Supernova has risen above it and has Maxine beat so bad that she confesses all that it was a cruel hoax. With that revelation Supernova smiles and deploys SPEED OF LIGHT to finish it off and retain her title. With all the weight lifted she immediately reverts back to her usual fun loving self. Lots of fan reaction to Supernova who is rising in popularity. She has that bred mentality never to give in and didn’t let this whole unpleasant incident get the better of her. The Matador wins a one-sided match over Raven. A classic encounter between two gifted stars. Raven is fighting through the pain barrier to make the match. He should really be resting up but didn’t want to miss the chance to take the Matador on again. Destructon 3000 is fed up with all these interfering managers and sticks to Reynard B. Glue like glue during the bout. He is not going to let such a dream match be ruined by him. Trouble was there never any cause for Reynard to do anything. The level of domination by the Matador is unprecedented. Six consecutive level 3 impact moves at the start set the tone. Raven tries his best to hold out. The amount of tokens he accumulated is testament to that but it’s clear he just wasn’t ready to step back in the ring yet. Matador using a perfectly executed cross body block off the top rope to end the resistance once and for all. Later in the evening there are rumblings that Pegasus and Raven have fallen out with each other. Pegasus believes Raven was stupid to wrestle injured and help gift Matador easy points in the MEGATOURNAMENT MVP battle.
Hitman match, Splatter goes over Mad Jester. Krakan wants out of his contract with the CPC now. Colby says if Splatter can beat Mad Jester in a Hitman match then the contract can be torn up and all the money owed for the remains of the year will be in the bag and his to keep. Lose and the Hitmen must continue to serve Colby and Pelf for the rest of the year unpaid. Sets the scene for a brutal battle. It is a wonder the pole is still standing as it gets used so much by both guys. Blood is being spilt on both sides. At one point Jester stands a groggy Splatter up against the wooden pole and tries to impale him with Jagged Edge Kick. Splatter just about moves in time and it’s a jarring impact for Jester that leaves him with a visible limp for what remains of the contest. The turning point comes when Splatter manages to grab his weapon and unleash MEET ARSENAL. Jester twirls on the spot, gives a cackle and then collapses unconscious. Almost like a cartoon character scene. Splatter clumsily climbs the pole and grabs the bag. He rips it open but there is no cash in there. Perhaps it’s been stolen or maybe there was never any money in there in the first place. Splatter goes nuts and starts angrily smashing Arsenal into the pole. Then turns to punish Jester some more but he is nowhere to be seen having quickly regained consciousness and scrambled away. More to come on this. Seems that Splatter is never out of controversy. Has a suspension threat hanging over him and now this drama. The Mercenaries beat New Order totally against the run of play. Lottery inspired! It’s a whole heap of hassle for Mace who starts getting cranky again (unpredictable as ever as his mood seems to sway from card to card). In an interview he moans “I don’t see why we have to take this match. Raven’s the one who got attacked by the Hitmen not us. He can fight his own battles”. The match is notable for New Order dominating but the Mercenaries picking up a win out nowhere. Vigilante gets one of the worst beatings he can probably remember. Dreggs uses TWIST AND SHOUT against him several times and Mace smashes him into the mat with MACE’S LITTLE HELPER twice. Yet Vigilante keeps ticking. Mace throws him out the ring in anger but when he goes to follow gets nailed by Krakan’s rifle with the referee busy distracted by Soldier of Fortune. In an instant Mace gets thrown back inside the ring in a daze. Vigilante enforces POLICE BRUTALITY and gets an unexpected pin. Destructon 3000, having been more active than he’s ever been of late, stays hands off. After Mace’s attitude earlier he doesn’t feel compelled to assist him but even he wouldn’t of expected this sudden turnaround in fortunes. Later on Mace does some serious backtracking and says what he meant is that Raven wouldn’t want them taking care of business for him what with being a proud man. This is the last point scoring match for the Mercenaries.
Jack of Diamonds pinned Cycle Hog in a falls count anywhere match. This match type never disappoints. The action soon spills into the food hall (Hog conveniently pushes the tussle in that direction). As they pass through Cycle Hog guzzles a milkshake and then tips a tray of food all over Jack. From there into a souvenir shop. Hog is like a bull in a china shop sending shelves and glass cabinets flying. Then a poor woman in the restroom has a ghastly encounter as the action bursts through the door. Jack tried to fight back and goes to pick him up for a slam into a video screen. Just about manages to hoist him but can see his arms trembling under the strain. All of a sudden the knees buckle and Hog comes down on top of him. Jack is nearly pinned there and then. Luckily Jack recovers from this and has an idea and rushes back to the food hall. Grabs a packet of doughnuts and runs back to the ring with them. Hog waddles after him and as he slides into the ring Jack is poised waiting for him. Comes down on the back of his head with DIAMOND CUT. Three more for good measure and Hog is out for the count, Jack wins.
The Zodiac beat Hunter’s Moon after Gemini pinned Vyper. Terak is in the dog house again for Mollock’s loss of control a few cards back. Grogan imposes a one match ban from either of them appearing at ringside. Terak chooses this match to take the ban. His team are fresh off a great win over the Demons of Hydra and against the highly ranked Zodiac lies a possibility of a serious push should they win. Added to this there is still lots of animosity between Vyper and Mesmer. A decent match goes back and forth until Vyper makes a mistake and Gemini catches him by surprise with a sunset flip. Appears this is the end of the road for the Zodiac’s unlikely flirtation with tag belts. Mesmer cryptically says afterwards “my plans for 2103 go beyond tag teaming. We won’t be challenging for the tag team belts now”. The Overlord doesn’t look to pleased to be hearing this.
Pegasus gets over the line against Bishop Hell. Morpheus puts his neck on the line by choosing the Bishop to face Pegasus here over the likes of Chaos and Janus. Amid murmuring that they are unhappy with him Morpheus still aims to show he is the one in charge (for now). In a nutshell it’s a disaster as the Bishop loses. Pegasus getting somewhere near back to his best. Has to survive HELLFIRE but comes back valiantly and uses PROJECT PEGASUS to keep the Matador within touching distance in the MVP race.
