UPSTART PRO WRESTLING LEAGUE MAKES NEW HOME IN KETTERING, OH Kettering, OH - May 12, 2016
At nearly 6-10 and 350 pounds, you would think to look at him that he would fit right at home inside a wrestling ring, and at one time he did. But these days, the man known as Massif is happier being outside the ring. This Saturday night, he'll lead his group of warriors into battle at Trent Arena for the debut of Wyldsyde Pro Wrestling
"I've had my run and got out on top, while my body and mind were still intact, and I've been looking for an opportunity", Massif said over coffee, "The ownership group of Wyldsyde Pro Wrestling contacted me about being in charge, and I figured why not. I'm still in shape, but don't have to keep putting my body at risk"
Massif's job title is Competition Director, which in wrestler speak means he's in charge, and what he says, goes. He has experience at this too, running several versions of the Galaxian Wrestling Federation in the past until being released for refusing to favor certain wrestlers.
"They thought they could scare me. Do I look like I scare easily? I've been given the go ahead to run Wyldsyde as I see fit, which means no suit and tie. You'll usually see me in jeans, a nice shirt, and work boots, very blue collar, you might say."
So how will Wyldsyde Pro, as it's known to its fan base, be different?
"We're going to be a lot different than what wrestling fans are used to. For one, we've paired with letitride.com, the online betting site, to let fans bet on the matches if they wish. We'll post the matchups and the odds each week before the show and anyone that wants to try their luck is welcome to do so. We're using it as a source of income as well. The agreement we have with letitride.com is we get 25% of whatever they take in or share 25% in the losses, whichever is applicable"
"For two, there'll be nothing scripted about Wyldsyde. These guys and girls are coming to fight, no managers, no interference, no BS, and they know that. They all get paid a comfortable weekly salary which takes the financial worries out of the equation and lets them concentrate on their craft. In the end, I think that will help us produce an overall better product."
Why Kettering, OH?
"We originally wanted to HQ in Dayton, but first one thing, then another led us out here. There's several independent promotions out there that have a problem with us being in Dayton, so we happened upon Trent Arena out here, and the wheels started turning among the ownership group. We're on a high school campus, and a lot of the students would like to intern with us in various ways, and that helps a lot with staffing. The first question we got was, will they be in harm's way, and I say absolutely not. I have my old tag team partner Commander Sam coming down to head up the security force and protect the fans, and the students, should the match get out of hand"
Tomorrow night at Trent Arena there will be a meet-and-greet with the wrestlers, and Massif will announce the first rosters for the Men's and Women's divisions. The first matchups will be announced tomorrow as well as the first set of odds for the benefit of the gamblers.
Along with Wyldsyde Pro Competition Director Massif, I'm Slammin' Biff Willoughby for Wrestling Weekly, the newspaper with all the wrestling news that's fit to print!

GWF LEGEND STRIVES TO KEEP THE PEACE IN WYLDSYDE PRO WRESTLING By Tina Turnbuckle May 13, 2016
He's kind of a gentle giant character. He could easily pass for someone's grandfather. Of course, not many grandfathers stack 273 pounds on a 6-2 frame.
And not many grandfathers could kick the butts of men half their age.
Galaxian Wrestling Federation legend Commander Sam could, has, and is ready to do it again if need be, as Massif's Second In Command and Leader Of The Security Force in Wyldsyde Pro Wrestling
"Massif and I go way back" Sam told me "Now I've done my time in the ring and had my share of the spotlight, but I ain't afraid to fight if I have to. They can call me Old Timer all they want, but when I've kicked their butts up between their shoulders, they usually end up calling me Sir" Sam said with a laugh. "Don't get me wrong, I ain't here looking for a fight, I'm here to help my old friend Massif and perhaps be a goodwill ambassador for the company, while keeping peace and keeping the fans safe"
So what is it exactly that Sam will be doing here?
"We're running this fed on clean, hard, competition. With our agreement with letitride.com, we have to, so I'm overseeing that. We don't want them to take our slogan "Where Anything Can Happen" too far, you know. The fighters don't come in contact until the bell rings and they cease contact once the bell rings again. If they can't do that, then we go to The Council"
And what is The Council?
"On every card, five fans will be chosen to be The Council. Should a fighter get disqualified, they will vote on his or her punishment. It could be anything from no punishment at all to a suspension, loss of ratings points, and loss of pay. They vote, and majority rules. If there is a tie, I cast the deciding vote. If there is still a tie, then Massif casts the deciding vote. The decision, whatever it may be, is legal and binding. For being part of The Council, fans get all sorts of free swag, and if they do really well, we'll keep them on Council in the future"
It's obvious that Sam still has wrestling in his blood, and his eyes lit up when he talked about some of the initial roster members for Wyldsyde.
"I like this kid called Cheeseburger. Very respectful young man, he fights much bigger then he is, you know what I mean? If anyone takes him lightly because of his size, they will regret it. Of course, there's my old pal Wolf. He's past his prime, but he's in the best shape of his life and he's still vicious. Sexy Star impresses me too, I've seen her fight in Mexico, and she just won't quit. Kaitlyn is a great hybrid of various skills, and I look forward to watching her"
Sam then shared with us the lineup, and the odds, for the inaugural card Saturday at Trent Arena
LEVA "THE JOKER" BATES (-96) VS DELILAH DOOM (98) They're both tough, but Leva is a little over the edge and that gives her the advantage
MARION FONTAINE (-95) VS CHEESEBURGER (93) Even matchup on paper, this could go either way. Marion is one of the few guys Cheeseburger can match up to size wise, so he best take advantage of it and get out of the gate hot
SUPER CRAZY (-118) VS JOEY DADDIEGO (115) High flying luchador VS grounded tough guy, the first fighter to establish his game plan will take the match
BILLY RED LYONS (-128) VS CHRIS HERO (122)
JIM BRUNZELL (-137) VS CHRIS CASH (129)
DAIZEE HAZE (-116) VS JESSICA JAMES (106)
FRANK GOTCH (-145) VS HAMMERHEAD (140) This one should be interesting. A legendary grappler against a power puncher. I agree with the odds here. If Hammerhead doesn't land his big shots, he'll get frustrated quickly and Gotch will take advantage
NATALYA (-128) VS SELINA MAJORS (124) Natalya has really opened up her game, working in elements of MMA along with her grappling training from her legendary family. That will make the difference.
ED STRANGLER LEWIS (-150) VS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (149) Two legendary old timers like me, both with freakish strength for their size. Too close to call
WENDI RICHTER (-132) VS SEXY STAR (130) Neither one of these fighters will give up. Another matchup too close to call
WOLF (-157) VS AJ STYLES (154) I like AJ, but I guarantee you he has never, and I mean NEVER, met anyone like Wolf. AJ should enjoy an agility advantage and use it well to have a chance.
MERCEDES MARTINEZ (-144) VS KAITLYN (139)
DON LEO JONATHAN (-170) VS STEVE WILLIAMS (164) Steve Williams loves wrestling big men like himself, but I can't recall him wrestling anyone with the size AND agility of Don Leo. This one will definitely be worthy of main event status

CHEESEBURGER, KAITLYN TAKE #1 CONTENDER SPOTS AFTER WEEK 1 IN WYLDSYDE by Tina Turnbuckle, Pro Wrestling Weekly
He's the smallest fighter on the Men's Roster for Wyldsyde Pro Wrestling, but Saturday night at Trent Arena in Kettering, OH, he packed the biggest punch
In front of a rabid crowd of 3740 fans celebrating wrestling's return to Dayton, OH, the man known as Cheeseburger scored a knockout on Marion Fontaine and leapt from last in the Power Rankings to the #1 contender's position with three weeks to go until Championship Saturday.
"He came at me, I got the double leg, and I guess his head bounced off the mat when I took him down, I locked in the Alligator Clutch and that was that. Only when the referee gave me the knockout did I realize I might be the top contender" Cheeseburger said after the match. It would end up holding up, as no one else on the Men's side was able to score a knockout. Cheeseburger and Fontaine had fought pretty evenly up to that point, with Cheeseburger even scoring with the Shotei Palm Strike, but Marion was too close to the ropes.
On the Women's side, Kaitlyn came out firing in her match against Mercedes Martinez and dominated throughout, hitting multiple SPEARS before getting the pin at 5:01. She did not let Mercedes get any offense in whatsoever.
"I came here to win and dominate, and that's exactly what I did" Kaitlyn said after the match
In other action on the card.....
Leva "The Joker" Bates dominates Delilah Doom from the start and wins with the PEPSI PLUNGE in 4:16
Super Crazy and Joey Daddiego fight to a DOUBLE DISQUALIFICATION outside the ring when the ref throws out the match at 2:56. They were both fined a night's pay and docked 5 points in the standings as per vote of The Council
Chris Hero takes down Billy Red Lyons with the DEATHBLOW at 5:50
Jim Brunzell uses his trademark dropkick effectively to keep Chris Cash off balance, then scores the win with an Inside Cradle at 9:16
Daizee Haze defeats Jessica James by disqualification at 2:52. James nearly takes Daizee's head off with a Yakuza Kick, then inexplicably throws her out of the ring and gets the DQ for ignoring the referee. James was fined a night's pay and docked 5 points by The Council
Hammerhead explodes all over Frank Gotch right from the start, scoring the pinfall at 2:49 with an Uppercut. Gotch got in little to no offense whatsoever and was never a threat. Hammerhead had words with Commander Sam after the match and they had to be separated
In a hard fought Women's Match, Natalya defeats Selina Majors by countout at 9:02 after a flying bodypress from the top rope crushes Selina
In a technical wrestling showcase, Ed Strangler Lewis defeats Abraham Lincoln at 13:27 after repeated STRANGLER HEADLOCKS
Sexy Star comes out firing and defeats Wendi Richter at 3:34 with the SWINGING FISHERBUSTER. It took multiple SFB's to put down Wendi, who came out flat and generated no offense of her own
In the most anticipated match of the night, Wolf defeats AJ Styles via DQ at 8:14 when AJ is DQ'd for sending Wolf headfirst into the rail. After spending the first 90 seconds of the match fighting off the SAVAGE FACE CLAW, Styles used his agility and the Calf Killer to slow down wolf, but would send the match outside and end up losing. AJ was fined and docked 5 points by The Council
Steve Williams defeats Don Leo Jonathan by disqualification at 9:08 when DLJ sends Williams headfirst into the rail. DLJ up to that point had scored several near falls using his size advantage, but gambled on pushing his advantage outside.
Chris Cash and Frank Gotch were both bloodied badly and had to be stitched up after the matches. Both are expected to return next week.
This Wednesday on Wyldsyde Weekly, Commander Sam comments on the altercation between himself and Hammerhead, and we'll set the matchups for Week 2

Wyldsyde Weekly - The weekly newsmagazine with all the news that's fit to print on Wyldsyde Pro Wrestling With your hosts - The Wyldsyde Announce Team of Mauro Ranallo and Jerry "The King" Lawler
Mauro and King welcome everyone to Wyldsyde Weekly, coming live from Trent Arena in Kettering, OH
Mauro and King talk about last week's card and how Cheeseburger, the smallest man on the Men's Roster, scored the only knockout on the card and leapt into the #1 contender's spot. King says it was a lucky punch. Mauro corrects him and says it was a lucky palm strike. King says he's still a little skeptical and wants to see how Cheeseburger does this week against the #2 contender, Ed Strangler Lewis, then he will let us know how he feels next week.
They then move to talk about the Women's division. Mauro notes there are three fighters tied for the top spot on points; Kaitlyn, Sexy Star, and Leva "The Joker" Bates, with Natalya close behind. King says they all have nice puppies, causing Mauro to roll his eyes and the crowd to groan. Mauro asks King if he realizes they are on the grounds of a high school and impressionable young minds are in the audience. King says "yeah, you're right" and apologizes to anyone that may have been offended. He asks the crowd if he can make it up to them by signing autographs after the show, and the crowd pops their approval. King says, all jokes aside, that among the top four, it's hard to pick a favorite. They're all tough, smart, beautiful fighters. Mauro says he has a surprise for King, who wonders what it could be. Mauro introduces Sexy Star, who comes out to a huge pop.
Sexy walks over to King and appears to cuss him out in Spanish before giving him a kiss on the cheek. Mauro asks Sexy what she was saying to King. Sexy says she had to chastise him for the term "puppies", but since he was one of her favorite American wrestlers growing up, she forgives him. Mauro asks Sexy about the competition in Wyldsyde. Sexy says the competition is tough and she likes it that way. She is here to be Women's Champion and to be the best. King asks Sexy what sets her apart from the rest of the women. Sexy says they're all beautiful, but she's beautiful and.......SEXY! Mauro wishes Sexy the best of luck, and we go to break
Back from break with Mauro, King, and Sexy Star. We see footage of Hammerhead bloodying and defeating Frank Gotch and his verbal altercation with Commander Sam. Mauro says Sam asked for time on this show to explain what happened, and without further ado, Mauro introduces Commander Sam.
Sam comes out to a nice pop, shakes hands with King and Mauro, and hugs Sexy. Mauro asks Sam what exactly happened. Sam says Hammerhead took comments he made about his match with Frank Gotch out of context. We are shown the comments in Wrestling Weekly where Sam said, "I agree with the odds here" and then says "If Hammerhead doesn't land his big shots, he'll get frustrated quickly and Gotch will take advantage". Sam says he doesn't know what the problems is, because HH landed big shots early and never was in danger.
At this point the crowd starts to stir and coming down the bleachers is Hammerhead and he has a mic. HH says there sits our judgmental so-called American hero. This flock of sheep hang on his every word. He thought old, washed up wrestler could defeat Soviet fighting machine and he was wrong. Perhaps old, washed up, judgmental so-called American Hero would like to rethink his opinion. Sam shakes his head in disgust, then stands up, tears off his shirt, and heads to the ring. Sam grabs a mic and tells Hammerhead he's not really sure what he's all bent out of shape about, it looks like he followed his advice and it worked.
Before HH can respond the crowd starts to stir again as Chris Hero is powerwalking down the entranceway to the ring. He joins Sam in the ring. Hero says he was out for a drive and happened to catch this on the radio so he had to see what the fuss was all about. Hero says considering that HH is all stone between the ears, he will make this short and easy to understand. This Saturday you have a match with me, don't worry about THAT hero (pointing to Sam), worry about THIS one! Hero and Sam shake hands as HH leaves in disgust. We go to break.
Back from break with Mauro, King, Sexy Star, Commander Sam, and now Chris Hero, and it's time to go over the card for this Saturday night, along with the odds, brought to you by letitride.com, an official sponsor of Wyldsyde Pro Wrestling
Starting at 500PM, here are your dark matches

The following video message was posted on WyldsydePro.com - It features Massif sitting behind a desk reading a prepared statement
To The Fantastic Fans Of Wyldsyde Pro Wrestling
It disappoints me to have to announce this, but due to conditions beyond my control and the control of Wyldsyde Pro Wrestling, tonight's card at Trent Arena is cancelled.
Acting on a tip, the ownership group of Wyldsyde Pro Wrestling enlisted the aid of the Ohio State Gaming Commission, along with local and regional law enforcement authorities, in conducting an investigation into, and subsequent raid of, the offices of our now former business partner, letitride.com, and found several improprieties involving the rigging of bets on Wyldsyde Pro Wrestling matches. It pains me to also have to report that some of our talent were in on it as well. We have dealt with them swiftly and severly. However, the fact that some of those talents were scheduled to compete tonight left a number of holes in the card that were just too great to fill on such short notice, so in the interest of you, the fans, we are cancelling tonight's card, but are advising you to hold onto your tickets, as they will be good for next week's card.
Myself and my right hand man, Chief Of Security Commander Sam, have both been questioned extensively, and I can assure you that neither I or Sam had anything whatsoever to do with this in any way, shape, or form. We have questioned all our student employees with their parents or legal guardians present, and they were all cleared as well. We strive to maintain the highest standards of athletic competition here in Wyldsyde Pro Wrestling and will continue to do so.
But, having said this, Wyldsyde Pro Wrestling did benefit financially from our former arrangement with letitride.com. After talking with the Ohio State Gaming Commission and the ownership group of Wyldsyde Pro Wrestling, it has been agreed that we will not only donate our cut of the winnings, but we will donate three times our cut of the winnings, a sum of over $200,000, to Fairmont High School for steadfastly standing by us through this ordeal. This way, what may be perceived as "ill-gotten gains" will be used for what we believe to be an excellent purpose, which is the betterment of the young, impressionable minds here at this fine learning institution.
For the foreseeable future, we will not be partnering with any gambling or gaming entities, our money will be made through ticket sales, our TV deal with FOX Sports, and merchandise sales. We wish to rebuild any confidence and/or trust lost through this ordeal with families that come out to see our product. First and foremost, it will be legal, and second, it will be family friendly. In that regard we are negotiating with potential new sponsors not involved in the gaming industry, and hope to have new deals signed in time for next Saturday's show.
In conclusion, Wyldsyde Pro Wrestling is not dead, or dying, it's just going in a new direction, and this Wednesday I'll be holding a press conference at Trent Arena to explain all that. Thanks for your time, and always remember, Anything Can Happen When You Walk On The Wyldsyde
