Man this sucks. I was looking forward to a Las Vegas/Tampa Bay final. Of course the Bolts would end up winning. They now just get to beat up on the Stars.

I really like the newly-announced VGK alternate jersey which is appropriately colored gold: I may have to get one.

I'm hoping he can do the same with my Red Wings and return them to greatness. My understanding is we have 20 draft picks in next two years so he should be able to work his magic.

As had been rumored, VGK signed their biggest free agent Robin Lehner to a 5 year contract extension this morning:

Seems the Knights picked up the best remaining free agent available by signing Alex Pietrangelo.

That is why VGK traded Paul Statsny back to Winnipeg and traded Nate Schmidt to Vancouver to clear salaray cap space for Pietrangelo. But interestingly VGK says they are not going to trade Fleury despite him now being a backup goalie making $7 million/year.

It’s more of the issue that no one wants Fleury at $7 mil/year and they couldn’t find a pair of teams willing to split the cap hit VGK will have a great goalie tandem in Lehner and Fleury next year and there have been more expensive goalie combinations on the same team in the past. I think VGK made a great move in signing Pietrangelo as a defender to place in front of Lehner and Fleury.

I’m not saying it isn’t smart to have two goalies of Fleury and Lehner’s caliber on the team, but if they had been able to move Fleury out then some of the other recent salary dumps wouldn’t have happened in my opinion. I can also see Fleury being moved at the deadline or before the Seattle expansion to a team that doesn’t want to risk losing either of their goaltenders to the Kraken.
