The first episode of EAWA following this past weekend's Money in the Bank: EAWA!
Vegas Wrestling Federation (VWF)
EAWA #17
July 25th, Year 2
- commentators: Matt Striker and Larry Zbyszko
In the Ring: EAWA General Manager Angelo Poffo who says this week;s show will start by introducing the new Brass Knuckles Champion Sandman.
- Sandman appears with the Brass Knuckles Championship (his 1st such reign) that he won this past weekend at Money in the Bank: EAWA. Sandman pointed at the commentary table and said he is going to sit there and drink an Alaskan beer while watching this next match to determine his first challenger.
Match #1: Iron Sheik (managed by Shawn Daivari) defeated Rob Van Dam in a Brass Knuckles Championship #1 Contender's match
- Iron Sheik earned this match due to winning the Vegas Traditional Opening 4 Way elimination match at Money in the Bank: EAWA and RVD earned this match by defeating Vampiro at Money in the Bank: EAWA.
- A competitive match, Iron Sheik won via his CAMEL CLUTCH after Daivari got away with spraying some type of mist in the face of RVD.
- As a result, the Iron Sheik will get a chance to become the first-ever 3 time Brass Knuckles Champion when he challenges Sandman next week on EAWA.
Backstage: Justin Credible attacks his enemy Mikey Whipwreck and then tells him he was not surprised that Whipwreck could not get the job done this past weekend in the EAWA Money in the Bank match as it was a fluke Whipwreck made it into the match in the first place. Credible tells a downed Whipwreck he will see him in the ring next week on EAWA for the extreme elimination match to determine the 3rd and final EAWA spot in the Sumerslam Scramble and this time he will make sure Whipwreck does not luck into another victory like he did in the extreme elimination match to win the final spot in the EAWA Money in the Bank match.
Match #2: The Crusher and Jackie Fargo defeated the Texas Hangmen
- This was a very one-sided match which ended when The Crusher pinned Killer via his CRUSHER BOLO.
- As The Crusher and Fargo get their hands raised in victory, Striker and Zbyszko remark that The Crusher and Fargo- who also defeated The Pitbulls at Money in the Bank: EAWA- might soon be in line for a chance to regain the EAWA Tag Team Championship from the Vachons.
Backstage: An angry Steve "Dr. Death" Williams approaches Poffo and complains about interference from his enemy Terry Gordy- who was not even in the match- costing him the chance to win the EAWA Money in the Bank match this past weekend. Poffo tells Williams he will get a chane at both revenge and a chance to still earn an EAWA Championship match as he is scheduling a #1 Contender's match between him (Williams) and Gordy for next week on EAWA!
Match #3: Ox Baker defeated Shane Douglas (accompanied by Francine) in a Summerslam Scramble Qualifying match
- Douglas was in control for most of this match until Baker countered and 2 moves later hit his dreaded HEART PUNCH for the somewhat surprising victory.
- As a result, Ox Baker has won the 1st of 3 EAWA spots in the Summerslam Scramble!
Backstage: Poffo tells Al Snow that both he and Vampiro (who Snow manages) will be in next week's extreme elimination match for the final EAWA spot in the Summerslam Scramble.
Match #4: Curt Hennig defeated Jerry Lynn in a Summerslam Scramble Qualifying match
- A great main event with an evenly traded offense between Hennig and Lynn who constantly traded offensive control back and forth. Lynn came close several times to getting the victory but Hennig won via his HENNIG PLEX.
- As a result, Ox Baker has won the 2nd of 3 EAWA spots in the Summerslam Scramble!
In the Ring: VWF Chairman of the Board "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase and his Cabinet (Larry "The Axe" Hennig and the Valiants)
- DiBiase calls Bob Backlund (who defeated DiBiase at Money in the Bank: EAWA to win an executive job in the VWF) down to the ring.
- Backlund arrives to the ring where DiBiase says he does not want to honor his promise to give Backlund an executive job despite that being the stipulation in their PPV match this past weekend that Backlund won. Instead, DiBiase challenges Backlund to another match- this time at Summerslam with the winner walking out with control of the entire VWF- but if Backlund loses then he (Backlund) is gone from the VWF!! Backlund agrees to this match vs DiBiase at Summerslam!
