The final episode of EAWA before Summerslam Week!
Vegas Wrestling Federation (VWF)
EAWA #19
August 8th, Year 2
In the Ring: Bob Backlund. Backlund says VWF Chairman of the Board "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase needs to take one last look around the VWF because after he (Backlund) defeats DiBiase at Summerslam it will be himself and not DiBiase controlling the VWF as per their agreed-upon match stipulation.
- Accompanied by his Cabinet (Larry "The Axe" Hennig and the Valiants,) DiBiase appears and says it is actually Backlund who should take one last long look around the VWF because if Backlund had read the fine print on page 3 it clearly says Backlund must leave the VWF is he is defeated by DiBiase at Summerslam!
- Thus, as Striker and Zbyszko point out, this match between Backlund and DiBiase at Summerslam is not just for DiBiase's control of the VWF but also to determine if Backlund ha any type of future in the VWF!
Match #1: Brass Knuckles Champion Sandman defeated Shawn Daivari (accompanied by the Iron Sheik) in a non-title match
- Just 1 week before he defends the Brass Knuckles Championship against the Iron Sheik- who is looking for his record 4th reign as Brass Knuckles Champion- at Summerslam Dark EAWA, Sandman made short work of Daivari who he put away via a smash with his SINGAPORE CANE.
- Afterward, Sandman told the Iron Sheik their match for the Brass Knuckles Championship next week will be a Singapore Cane match!
Backstage: Mikey Whipwreck is told by EWA General Manager Angelo Poffo that, next week on Summerslam Dark EAWA, Whipwreck will take on his enemy Justin Credible in a last man standing match!
Match #2: The Pitbulls defeated the Texas Hangmen
- this match was for the EAWA spot in the multi-brand Vegas Traditional Opening 4 Way elimination tag match at Summerslam.
- The Texas Hangmen had control early but the Pitbulls won when Pitbull #2 pinned Killer via SUPER BOMB performed in tandem with Pitbull #1.
- As a result, The Pitbulls win the final spot in the multi-brand Vegas Traditional Opening 4 Way tag elimination match at Summerslam that also includes RAW's Midnight Express and Smackdown's James Gang and Sheepherders with the winning tag team getting a tag team championship match the following week.
Backstage: Poffo tells The Crusher and Jackie Fargo that, due to their impressive recent winning streak, they will get a chance to regain the EAWA Tag Team Championship from the Vachons next week at Summerslam Dark EAWA.
Match #3: Curt Hennig defeated Ox Baker and Shane Douglas (accompanied by Francine)
- This match involved the 3 EAWA wrestlers in the 9 man Summmerslam Scramble at Summerslam in which the winner receives a title shot the following week on their brand's TV show.
- A good match, Hennig won when he pinned Baker following a running knee lift.
Backstage: Poffo tells Rob Van Dam that next week on Summerslam Dark EAWA he will take on both Vampiro and Konnan in a triple threat match!
Match #4: EAWA Champion Big Van Vader and "Precious" Paul Ellering defeated the Miracle Violence Connection
- Due to interrupting last week's #1 Contender's match between Williams and Gordy to determine his challenger at Summerslam, in addition to now having to defend against both Williams and Gordy in a triple threat at Summerslam, Vader was also punished by Poffo by having to team with his manager Ellering against both Williams and Gordy.
- However, Williams and Gordy could not overcome their chemistry issues to be an effective tag team in this match. For example, at one point when the referee had his back turned, Gordy clapped his own hands together to make it sound like he tagged in Williams but Williams refused to go along with it. When the referee turned around and saw both Gordy and Williams standing on the apron, he asked Williams to enter the ring but Willaims said "No, he didn't tag me, no." Gordy was then forced to reenter the ring.
- The chemistry dysfunction between Williams and Gordy ultimately led to Vader and Ellering getting the victory when Vader pinned Gordy via a POWER BOMB.
