The final episode of Smackdown before the Royal Rumble!
Vegas Wrestling Federation (VWF) Smackdown #73 January 28th, Year 2
- commentators: Matt Striker and Larry Zbyszko
Match #1: Bob Roop (accompanied by Hacksaw Jim Duggan) defeated Fit Finlay (accompanied by David Taylor)
- this match was for the Smackdown spot in the inter-brand triple threat match on the Royal Rumble Preshow in which the winner receives a shot at their brand's secondary championship
- Roop won via his SHOULDER BREAKER.
- As a result, Roop will represent Smackdown in the triple threat against RAW's Don Muraco and EAWA's Eddie Gilbert on the Royal Rumble Preshow.
Elimination Chamber: Smackdown is February 20th!
Match #2: World Tag Team Champion Robert Gibson (accompanied by World Tag Team Champion Ricky Morton) defeated Kip James (accompanied by B.G. James)
- Just 3 days before the Rock N' Roll Express defend the World Tag Team Championship against the James Gang at the Royal Rumble, Gibson won this singles match against Kip James quickly via his GIBSON LEGLOCK.
Backstage: Intercontinental Champion Buddy Rogers. Rogers says he won the Intercontinental Championship back in September which means his 6-month mark will be in March the same month as Vegasmania 3 when he can cash in his secondary championship for a World Championship match if he can retain the Intercontinental Championship through Elimination Chamber: Smackdown to complete his 6-month reign requirement. Rogers thus says the way he sees it he has 2 paths to a World Championship match at Vegasmania 3- either by winning this weekend's Royal Rumble which is a match Rogers won just two years ago or by retaining the Intercontinental Championship until March.
Match #3: Tully Blanchard (managed by JJ Dillon) defeated Jim Londos
- This was a matchup between two of the competitors in this weekend's Royal Rumble.
- This was a very good match. Blanchard got the victory but he had to do two consecutive SLINGSHOT SUPLEXES to put away Londos.
Backstage: Smackdown General Manager is asked if he knows and can reveal anything about the two mystery competitors in this weekend's Royal Rumble. Long says the only thing he has heard is that both competitors will be new wrestlers making their VWF debuts but one of them has wrestled previously in the VWF's predecessor Major League Wrestling.

Match #4: Bruiser Brody and Stan Hansen vs The Butcher and the Bear (accompanied by Killer Kowalski and Gorilla Monsoon) ended in a double DQ
- This grudge match ended in a double DQ when Monsoon- who is challenging Harley Race for the World Championship at the Royal Rumble- tripped Brody leading to Race coming out and starting a brawl with Monsoon that went into the ring leading to the referee to call for the bell to disqualify both sides.
- Teddy Long then appeared and restarted this match as now a 6 man tag!
Match #4A: The Butcher and the Bear and Gorilla Monsoon (all accompanied by Killer Kowalski) defeated World Champion Harley Race, Bruiser Brody, and Stan Hansen by DQ

Promoter's Note:
I am now up to my annual Royal Rumble show but that show will not happen until after Christmas as I am going to visit family in Europe and it is easier for me to pack my current COTG cards than all my current LOW cards.
Thanks for following my LOW fed and I look forward to getting back to it, starting with the Royal Rumble, after I return to the United States.
