Match #1: Magnum TA defeated Barbarian
- As this match was starting, Striker and Zbyszko on commentary said that both of these competitors along with Gorgeous George and Ivan Koloff are in the Vegas Traditional Opening 4-Way elimination match at Vegasmania Backlash: Smackdown.
- Magnum TA won via a running forearm.
Backstage: World Tag Team Champions Rock N' Roll Express- who have made it to but lost in the Finals both years of the MLW Memorial Cup- say they will once again be competing in the MLW Memorial Cup!
Match #2: George Hackenschmidt (managed by JJ Dillon) defeated Koko B. Ware
- Hackenschmnidt won easily via his RUSSIAN BEAR HUG.
- Afterward, Hackenschmidt refused to relinquish his finishing hold as Ware screamed in pain until Harley Race ran in to make the save. Race then said he still needs a match for Vegasmania Backlash: Smackdown and challenges Hackenschmit to a match at the PPV this weekend!
Backstage: Smackdown General Manager Teddy Long introduces Smackdown's singles Draft pick for tonight- VWF Chairman Bob Backlund!
- Backlund explains he is going to make Smackdown the main brand he wrestles on instead of EAWA and he is seeking to earn a title shot to become World Champion. Backlund also says as part of the process to enter the World Championship picture, he is going to wrestle Jim Londos this weekend at Vegasmania Backlash: Smackdown!
Match #3: James Gang defeated Armstrongs
- James Gang won this match when B.G. James pinned Bob Armstrong via PUMP HANDLE SLAM.
- Afterward, Long said it now time to announce tonight's Smackdown tag team Draft pick as they will be taking on the James Gang this weekend at Vegamsmania Backlash: Smackdown! Long then introduces from RAW the Road Warriors!
- Long explains the Road Warriors were already signed to take on Blackjack Mulligan and King Kong Bundy at Vegasmania Backlash: RAW and that match will still happen but after that the Road Warriors will be exclusive to Smackdown.
- Striker and Zbyszko then point out that the Year 3 Draft is now over but there is still expected to be some trades, free agent signings, and temporary roster releases next week after Vegasmania Backlash.
MLW Memorial Cup
The MLW Memorial Cup is returning on Memorial Day Weekend! 64 tag teams participating in a 4-day tournament along with non-tournament matches including some Special Appearances!

Match #4: World Champion Buddy Rogers (managed by JJ Dillon) and United States Champion Don Muraco (managed by Mr. Fuji) defeated Bruiser Brody and Frank Gotch
- This match pitted Rogers and Muraco- who worked well together as they were once both fellow Horsemen during the MLW era- against their respective Vegasmania Backlash: Smackdown challengers Brody and Gotch.
- This match ended when Rogers pinned Gotch via a jumping knee smash while getting away with a handful of Gotch's tights for extra leverage as the referee made the 3 count.
