Vegas Wrestling Federation (VWF) MLW Memorial Cup Day 1- early afternoon May 27, Year 2 Downtown Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC) Las Vegas, NV (First Half)
- commentators: Matt Striker and Larry Zbyszko. Striker and Zbyszko say the early afternoon portion of Day 1 of the MLW Memorial Cup will feature all 8 of the First Round matches in the Planet Hollywood Bracket.
Match #1: Gorgeous George and Vampiro defeated the Islanders in a First Round match
-Ths Ialanders became the first of the four outside tag teams making a special attraction presence in the tournament to become eliminated as George and Vampiro scored the upset when Vampiro pinned Haku after a top rope spin.
Match #2: Austin Idol and Exotic Adrian Street defeated Tully Blanchard and Johnny Valentine (managed by JJ Dillon) in a First Round match
- A major upset as Idol and Street scored a First Round knockout of two former Worl Champions and a winner (Blanchard) of last year's MLW Memorial Cup when Idol submitted Blanchard via LAS VEGAS LEGLOCK.
Match #3: Stars and Stripes defeated the Dream Team (managed by Johnny V) in a First Round match
- A good match, Stars and Stripes advanced when Del Wilkes pinned Brutus Beefcake after an atomic drop.
Match #4: VWF Tag Team Champion British Bulldogs (managed by Captain Lou Albano) defeated BWO (Stevie Richard and Blue Meanie, accompanied by Super Nova) in a First Round match
- The BWO gave the Bulldogs much more problems than most would expect and came close to scoring a major First Round upset over a #1 seed. But the British Bulldogs advanced when Davey Boy Smith pinned Blue Meanie after TOWER OF LONDON.
Match #5: World Champion Buddy Rogers and George Hackenschmidt (managed by JJ Dillon) defeated "Mr. Electricity' Steve Regal and Sam Houston in a First Round match.
- An easy victory for the Horsemen as Rogers made Regal submit to his FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE.

Match #6: Adrian Adonis and "Dirty" Dick Hutton (both managed by Jimmy Hart) defeated the Armstrongs
- Another seeding upset occurs as Hutton put away Bob Armstrong via ABDOMINAL STRETCH after Jimmy Hart got away with smashing Armstrong with his megaphone.
Match #7: Lou Thesz and Barry Windham defeated Magnum TA and Ranger Ross in a First Round match
- Thesz and Windham dominated this match and advanced when Windham pinned Ross via his LARIAT,
Match #8: Briscos defeated Texas Hangmen in a First Round match
- Briscos worked over the Texas Hangmen and advanced when Jack Brisco submitted Killer via his FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK.
- As a result, Thesz/Windham will take on the Briscos in a big Second Round tag team matchup.
Match #9: Sgt. Slaughter defeated Rickey "The Dragon" Steamboat in a Special Attraction match
- Slaughter won via his COBRA CLUTCH.

- Costa surprised everyone by scoring two quick pin attempts on Road Warrior Animal. However, a quickly recovered and angry Road Warrior Animal pinned Costa after a POWER SLAM.
Match #2: Killer Bees defeated Sheepherders in a First Round match
- Jim Brunzell pinned Luke Williams via KILLER DROPKICK.
- As a result, the Killer Bees will take on the Road Warriors in the Second Round.
Match #3: Sandman and Hardcore Hodge defeated the Natural Disasters in a First Round match
- Sandman and Hodge scored the First Round upset when Sandman pinned Earthquake via SINGAPORE CANE.
Match #4: Harley Race and Bruiser Brody defeated Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Koko B. Ware in a First Round match
- Brody pinned Duggan via a JUMPING KNEE DROP.
- As a result, Brody and Race will next take on Sandman and Hodge in the Second Round.

Match #5: Brass Knuckles Champion Shane Douglas (accompanied by Francine) and Diamond Dallas Page defeated The Gilberts (Cruiserweight Champion Eddie Gilbert and Tommy Gilbert, accompanied by Doug Gilbert) in a First Round match
- For this match, using the Gilberts Rule, the Gilberts chose Eddie and Tommy to represent them in this match.
- A good First Round match, Douglas and DDP won when Douglas pinned Tommy Gilbert via BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX.
- As a result, as a current champion who did not advance to the Elite Eight, Eddie Gilbert will have to defend the Cruiserweight Championship on Day Four.
Match #6: The Crusher and Jackie Fargo defeated the Bolsheviks in a First Round match
- The Crusher put away Boris Zhukov via CRUSHER BOLO.
- In the Ring: United States Champion Don Muraco (with Mr. Fuji) and Bob Roop.
- Muraco and Roop say they are ready for their First Round match but wonder aloud what happened to their opponents the Quebecers.
- Backstage footage is then shown of The Quebecers lying on the floor as the apparent victims of a backstage attack.
- Muraco and Roop react in shock and say it appears the Quebecers will have to forfeit and instruct the referee to start making the 10 count.
- As he starts to make the 10 count, the referee gets interrupted by RAW General Manager Joe Blanchard. Blanchard says the Quebecers were a RAW tag team and, since they are now unable to compete in this tournament, they will be replaced by a RAW tag team and in fact the newest RAW tag team who just signed VWF contracts- the Fabulous Kangaroos! Former World Tag Team Champions and former MLW Tag Team Champions, accompanied by their manager "Wild" Red Berry, the Fabulous Kangaroos appear waving to and throwing boomerangs into the crowd as Muraco and Roop react in shock and anger.
Match #7: Fabulous Kangaroos (managed by "Wild" Red Berry) defeated United States Champion Don Muraco (managed by Mr. Fuji) and Bob Roop in a First Round match
- Making their surprise VWF debut, Fabulous Kangaroos controlled most of this match and won when Al Costello pinned Muraco via a sleeperhold.
- As a result, as a current champion who did not advance to the Elite Eight, Muraco will have to defend the United States Championship on Day Four.
Match #8: EAWA Tag Team Champions Rob Van Dam and Curt Hennig defeated Thunderbolt Patterson and Val Venis in a First Round match
- Hennig pinned Venis via HENNIG PLEX.
- As a result, RVD and Hennig will take on the Kangaroos in the Second Round.

Pleased that RVD & Hennig are through to the next round... But, they've got a really tough draw in the Kangaroos... Thoroughly enjoying the tournament so far!
