- commentators: Matt Striker and Larry Zbyszko. Striker and Zbyszko say this Evening Session of Day 1 features the First Round matches of the Caesar's Palace Bracket.
Match #1: United States Tag Team Champions Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton and Dennis Condrey, accompanied by Mr. Hughes and Jim Cornette) defeated Masked Superstar and Jerry Lynn in a First Round match
- The Midnight Express came extremely close to suffering a major First Round defeat but they avoided the historic upset when Eaton put away Lynn after MIDNIGHT MASSACRE.
Match #2: Blackjack Mulligan and King Kong Bundy defeated the Long Riders in a First Round match
- The Long Riders had Bundy in trouble but the end came when Mulligan took out "Wild" Bill Irwin via his BLACKJACK CLAW.
Match #3: Big Van Vader (managed by "Precious" Paul Ellering) and Kurt Angle defeated Stan Hansen and Ox Baker in a First Round match
- Vader pinned Hansen via RELEASED POWERBOMB.
Match #4: Harlem Heat defeated Alexis Smirnoff and Butcher Vachon in a First Round match
- Stevie Ray put away Vachon following TOWERING INFERNO.
Match #5: The Stranglers defeated the James Gang in a First Round match
- "Strangler" Evan Lewis submitted Kip James via STRANGLEHOLD.

Match #6: VWF Champion Nick Bockwinkel and Ray Stevens (managed by Bobby Heenan) defeated "Mr. Electricity" Steve Regal and Sam Houston in a First Round match
- An easy First Round victory for Bockwinkel and Stevens as Bockwinkel took out Houston via his BOCKWINKEL SLEEPER.
Match #7: VWF Chairman Bob Backlund and Frank Gotch defeated the Moondogs in a First Round match
- The Moondogs surprised Backlund and Gotch by giving them more problems than most expected but Backlund and Gotch advanced when Gotch submitted Moondog Rex via a guillotine choke.
Match #8: Ted DiBiase and "Dr. Death" Steve Williams defeated Hillbilly Jim and George "The Animal" Steele in a First Round match
- To close out the First Round, DiBiase and Williams advanced when Williams pinned Steele via his OKLAHOMA STAMPEDE.
Match #9: Andre the Giant defeated Cactus Jack in a Special Attraction match
- Andre the Giant won via a headbutt when Cactus Jack got distracted by the sudden appearance at ringside by Dan Severn.
- Afterward, Severn said he wants to challenge Cactus Jack to a Special Attraction match later in this tournament!

I would be kinda surprised if Backlund & Gotch don't take the lower half of this bracket... Seeing them face off against Angle & Vader would be nothing short of EPIC!

Going to have to go with Toni Rose against Trish. She’s doing really well in my federation. Nora Greenwald is my pick over Judy Martin. Leilani Kai over Shade and Joyce Grable over Rockin Robin are my picks for the Vixen’s Championship # 1 Contender’s Tournament First Round Matches. For the Paris Bracket Second Round I am going for - Rock n’ Roll Express, Hollywood Blondes, The Fabulous Ones and Savage and Piper. Should be a good show. It’s a pretty stacked card. Good stuff.  |
