- commentators: Matt Striker and Larry Zbyszko. Striker and Zbyszko say this evening portion of Day 3 will focus on the Sweet Sixteen matches for both the MGM Grand Bracket and the Caesar's Palace Bracket.

Match #1: Sherri Martel defeated Melina in a Ladies Championship #1 Contender's Tournament Semi-Finals match

- Martel won via her TOP ROPE SPLASH.

- As a result, Martel- who has a record 3 Ladies Championships- is now just 1 win away from challenging for her 4th Ladies Championship tomorrow on Day 4.

Match #2: Jazz defeated Ida Mae Martinez in a Ladies Championship #1 Contender's Tournament Semi-Finals match

- Jazz won via her BITCH CLAMP.

- As a result, the Ladies Championship #1 Contender's Tournament Finals tomorrow will be Sherri Martel vs Jazz.

Match #3: Brass Knuckles Champion Shane Douglas (accompanied by Francine) and Diamond Dallas Page defeated the Fabulous Kangaroos (managed by "Wild" Red Berry) in a Sweet Sixteen match

- The Kangaroos were in control of this match until DDP suddenly hit Al Costello with a DIAMOND CUTTER. Costello managed to kick out but DDP immediately hit Costelo with another DIAMOND CUTTER and this time Costello did not kick out.

- As a result, since his team made the Elite Eight, Douglas will not have to defend the Brass Knuckles Championship tomorrow on Day 4.

Match #4: Road Warriors defeated Harley Race and Bruiser Brody in a Sweet Sixteen match

- The greater tag experience of the Road Warriors prevailed in this match as Road Warrior Animal pinned Brody following the DOOMSDAY DEVICE. Striker and Zbyszko comment that we are now down to just 10 tag teams left in the tournament.

- As a result, the Road Warriors advance to the Elite Eight where they will take on Douglas and DDP.

- Afterward, Smackdown General Manager Teddy Long appeared and said, despite being eliminated, both Race and Brody will be in action tomorrow on Day 4. Long says Race, since he did not take the pinfall, tomorrow will wrestle in a #1 Contenders match in the afternoon with the winner challenging Buddy Rogers for the World Championship in the evening Brody tomorrow will take on Andre the Giant in a Special Attraction match!

Match #5: Big Van Vader (managed by "Precious" Paul Ellering) and Kurt Angle defeated United States Tag Team Champions Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton and Dennis Condrey, both managed by Jim Cornette and accompanied by Mr. Hughes) in a Sweet Sixteen match

- This match ended when Angle pinned Condrey via his OLYMPIC SLAM.

- As a result, Vader and Angle advance to the Elite Eight and the Midnight Express- as current champions who did not advance to the Elite Eight- will have to defend the United States Tag Team Championship tomorrow on Day 4.

Match #6: EAWA Champion Nick Bockwinkel and Ray Stevens (both managed by Bobby Heenan) defeated VWF CHairman Bob Backlund and Frank Gotch in a Sweet Sixteen match

- In the final Sweet Sixteen match, Bockwinkel and Stevens advanced when Bockwinkel submitted Backlund via his FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK.

- Afterward, an eliminated Backlund says tomorrow he wants to challenge for the World Championship- but he also wants to earn that title shot so he is using his position as VWF CHairman to announce a #1 Contender's elimination match between himself, Gotch, and Harley Race tomorrow on Day 4 in the afternoon with the winner challenging Buddy Rogers for the World Championship in the evening portion of Day 4!

Match #7: Andre the Giant defeated Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat in a Special Attraction match

- Andre the Giant- who has already been announced as taking on Bruiser Brody in a Special attraction match tomorrow on Day 4- won via his BIG SPLASH.

- Afterward, RAW General Manager approached Steamboat and said tomorrow on Day 4 he (Steamboat) has a Special Attraction match against Barry Windham!

Match #1: Hardcore Hodge defeated Cruiserweight Champion Eddie Gilbert (accompanied by both Tommy Gilbert and Doug Gilbert,) Gorgeous George, and Koko B. Ware in a Vegas Traditional Opening 4-Way elimination match

- George took out Ware via ROLLING HIPLOCKS.

- Hodge pinned George via OKLAHOMA SIDE ROLL.

- Hodge eliminated Gilbert via Indian Deathlock.

- As a result, Hardcore Hodge regains the Cruiserweight Championship! As pointed out by Striker and Zbyszko on commentary, this is Hodge's 3rd Cruiserweight Championship which ties him with Tiger Mask for the most of all time!

Match #2: Judy Martin defeated Joyce Grable in the Vixens Championship #1 Contender's Tournament Finals

- For this match to determine her challenger this evening, Vixens Champion Fabulous Moolah provided guest color commentary.

- Grable did some damage but Martin won via her POWER BOMB.

- As a result, this evening, Martin will challenge Moolah for the Vixens Championship. Martin will be going for her first Vixens Championship.

Match #3: Sherri Martel defeated Jazz in the Ladies Championship #1 Contender's Tournament Finals

- For this match to determine her challenger this evening, Ladies Champion Mildred Burke provided guest color commentary.

- Jazz controlled most of this match but Martel after a reversal won via her TOP ROPE SPLASH.

- As a result, this evening, Martel will challenge Burke for the Ladies Championship. Martel, who already has a record 3 Ladies Championships, will be going for her 4th Ladies Championship.

Match #4: Cactus Jack defeated Dan Severn in a Special Attraction match

- In a matchup involving a contrast in styles, Severn controlled most of this match but Cactus Jack won via his DOUBLE-ARM DDT.

- Afterward, Severn kicked the ropes in frustration.
