This episode of RAW will be followed the next night with the first episode of Smackdown featuring wrestlers selected by Smackdown in the VWF Draft!

August 6th, Year 1
- commentators: Matt Striker and Larry Zbyszko
Match #1: Boris Zhukov defeated Sam Houston
- this match marked the VWF debuts for both Houston and Zhukov
- a good match, Zhukov won via a DIVING HEAD BUTT
- afterward, Zhukov continued attacking Houston until Hacksaw Jim Duggan ran down with his 2 X 4 to make the save
DiBiase's Office: Surrounded by his Cabinet (Larry "The Axe" Hennig and the Valiants,) VWF Chairman of the Board and VWF Champion "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase is meeting with Jim Cornette and the Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey and Bobby Eaton)
- DiBiase confirms that the Midnight Express (who became the tag team #1 contenders after defeating the Fantastics at Money in the Bank) will indeed get their VWF Tag Team Championship match against the current champions the Road Warriors at Summerslam. DiBiase however also mentions that up until Summerslam he is booking some singles matches between the Midnight Express and the Road Warriors and the first of these matches takes place next week on RAW with Condrey against Road Warrior Animal.
Match #2: The Armstrongs defeated Frank Dalton and Bruiser Costa
- this match marked the VWF debut of the Armstrongs
- the Armstrongs looked impressive and made short work of Dalton and Costa. The match ended when Bob Armstrong put Costa away via his GEORGIA JAWJACKER.
- DiBiase's Office: DiBiase is with Rob Van Dam who as a result of winning the main event #1 contender's ladder match at Money in the Bank is now the #1 contender to DiBiase's VWF Championship.
- DiBiase tells his longtime enemy RVD that he will get his VWF Championship match against him at Summerslam.
- RVD asks DiBiase why he picked him (RVD) in the VWF Draft when RVD was the #1 contender and instead why not allow RVD to get drafted by Smackdown
- DiBiase says that is because he knows he can defeat RVD just like he once did at Halloween Havoc to win the EAWA Championship back in the days of Major League Wrestling (MLW.)
Match #3: Pampero Firpo (manged by Rock Riddle) defeated Ivan Koloff in a United States Championship #1 contender's match
- for this match, United States Champion Bobo Brazil provided guest color commentary
- Koloff controlled the majority of this match, but Firpo won via EL GARFIO to earn a United States Championship match against Brazil at Summerslam.

Match #4: Blackjack Mulligan defeated Rob Van Dam (accompanied by Curt Hennig) by DQ
- RVD controlled most of this match but got DQd for two straight Van Daminators.
- afterward RVD said those two Van Daminators were a message meant for DiBiase
- DiBiase and his Cabinet then appeared and said he has his own message for RVD- he (RVD) will be competing on every episode of RAW between now and Summerslam and next week his match will be him (RVD) and Curt Hennig against the Valiants!

BREAKING NEWS:
Since all the VWF Champions were drafted by the RAW brand in the VWF Draft, Smackdown General Manager Angelo Poffo is bringing back the World Championship, the Intercontinental Championship, and the World Tag Team Championship. To determine the two singles champions, an 8 man tournament will begins this week on Smackdown with the tournament finalists wrestling each other for the World Championship at Summerslam and the two Semi-Finals losers competing for the Intercontinental Championship at Summerslam!

Match #1: Bruiser Brody defeated King Kong Bundy by DQ in a World Championship Tournament first round match
- Bundy, apparently eager to assert himself as the true monster of the newly reinstated Smackdown brand, got himself DQd when he shoved the referee who was trying to regain control of the match
- as a result, Brody advances to the semi-finals
Backstage: Boogie Woogie Man says he is making his VWF debut next week on Smackdown
Match #2: Harley Race defeated Magnum TA in a World Championship Tournament first round match
- Race won via his DIVING HEADBUTT to advance to the semi-finals
In the Ring: General Manager Angelo Poffo
- Poffo says at Summerslam there will be a 3 way tag elimination match to determine the new World Tag Team Champions
- Poffo says the 3 tag teams participating in the 3 way elimination tag World Tag Team Championship match at Summerslam will be the 3 winners of these matches next week on Smackdown: Rock N Roll Express vs Sheepherders, Miracle Violence Connection vs Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff, and Fantastics vs Heavenly Bodies!

- Blanchard won after 2 consecutive SLINGSHOT SUPLEXES after getting away with hitting Snuka with a foreign object

Match #4: Diamond Dallas Page defeated Buddy Rogers in a World Championship first round match
- Rogers controlled most of this match but DDP prevailed when he suddenly countered a move by Rogers with the DIAMOND CUTTER to get the win from out of nowhere.
- Striker and Zbyszko comment that this is a major loss for Rogers because by not even advancing to the semi-finals it means he will not be either the new World Championship (he was the last World Champion when Major League Wrestling ended) or the new Intercontinental Champion (which will be decided between a match at Summerslam between the two losers in the semi-finals of this tournament) and in fact currently does not even have a match at all on Summerslam.
- as Johnny Valentine appeared on the top of the stage looking at Rogers and shaking his head in disappointment, tonight's show comes to an end.

I thoroughly enjoyed both Raw and Smackdown and I love that you are introducing separate titles for the blue brand. DDP over Buddy Rogers was a huge win for Diamond Dallas. Round two with DDP, Tully Blanchard, Harley Race and Bruiser Brody is going to be awesome. I can't wait to see who becomes the first World Heavyweight champion. Angelo Poffo as the GM is a nice touch. Great to see "The Miser" in that role of making big decisions. Summerslam is already looking great with those first three matches announced.

Match #1: Barry Windham and Greg Valentine won a battle royal to determine RAW's 2 spots in the Vegas traditional opening 4 way elimination match at Summerslam

- Zhukov, who had issues with Duggan last week on RAW when Duggan ran into the ring with his 2 X 4 to break up Zhukov's post match attack on Sam Houston, got a quick elimination on Duggan after choking Duggan with the Soviet flag before throwing him over the top rope
- the match came down to Windham and both members of the Dream Team who, with two winning spots available in this battle royal, sought to eliminate Windham and claim both spots in the opening match of Summerslam for themselves. Windham however was able to fight off Valentine and Beefcake and eliminate Beefcake to end the battle royal with him (Windham) and Valentine as the winners
the office of VWF Chairman of the Board and VWF Champion "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase: DiBiase (backed by his Cabinet- Larry "The Axe" Hennig and the Valiants) is meeting with "Macho Man" Randy Savage
- Savage tells DiBiase he does not understand why DiBiase did not allow him to be drafted by Angel Poffo to Smackdown since he is holding the Money in the Bank briefcase and teases he might cash in the briefcase against DiBiase at Summerslam. DiBiase tells Savage he doubts he will be cashing in anything at Summerslam since he will be probably be too exhausted as he (DiBiase) is putting Savage in a match at Summerslam against Lou Thesz!
Match #2: Dennis Condrey (accompanied by Bobby Eaton and Jim Cornette) defeated Road Warrior Animal (accompanied by Road Warrior Hawk)
- two weeks before the Midnight Express challenge the Road Warriors for the VWF Tag Team Championship at Summerslam, Condrey got a singles victory over Animal via a gut wrench suplex as Eaton and Condrey both got away with holding down Animal's legs as the referee made the 3 count
Backstage: Rock Riddle on his way to the ring says he set up his match tonight against United States Champion Bobo Brazil so that he can learn first hand about Brazil's weaknesses and pass them on to Pampero Firpo to help Firpo defeat Brazil for the United States Championship at Summerslam.
Match #3: United States Champion Bobo Brazil defeated Rock Riddle (accompanied by Pampero Firpo) in a non-title match
- Brazil got a very quick victory over Riddle via a grinding hammerlock, but afterward Brazil got attacked by Firpo who gave Brazil EL GARFIO

The VWF never fails to disappoint and crazy enough Ted Dibiase had us fans in mind when he booked RVD vs. Randy Savage for next week on Raw. Ok maybe that's a stretch but I want to thank Dibiase anyway for setting up an awesome match. I liked the added heat for the U.S. title match at Summerslam with Pampero Firpo locking the El Garfio on Bobo Brazil. Despite the interference, Dennis Condrey over Road Warrior Animal is a shocker. Good also to see Barry Windham and Greg Valentine claim spots in the elimination bout at Summerslam.
