Match #1: Sheepherders defeated Vachons
- as this match began, Striker and Zbyszko commented that both of these tag teams will be competing against the Midnight Bees and the Dream Team in the Vegas Traditional Opening 4 Way elimination match at this weekend's Royal Rumble.
- Sheepherders won when Luke Williams pinned Butcher Vachon after a sneaky double team.
Backstage: Melina tells the Heavenly Bodies, who she manages, that she got them booked in a preshow match at the Royal Rumble against the Boogie Woogie Man and Brian Christopher.
Match #2: Tully Blanchard and Johnny Valentine (both accompanied by Buddy Rogers- their fellow Horsemen- and manager JJ Dillon) defeated Magnum TA and Diamond Dallas Page.
- this match involved 4 of the competitors in this weekend's Royal Rumble
- the Horsemen won when Blanchard pinned Magnum TA via his SLINGSHOT SUPLEX
- afterward, an angry and still visibly battered Smackdown General Manager Angelo Poffo- who was attacked in his office by Rogers at the end of last week's Smackdown due to his refusal to book Rogers- who won last year's Royal Rumble- in this year's Royal Rumble due to Rogers instead already being booked against Ric Flair in a special attraction match at Vegasmania 2- appeared and announced Rogers will have a match after all at the Royal Rumble- against him!
Backstage: Sherri Martel, Rockin Robin, Melina, and Princess Victoria sign up to participate in this weekend's Womens Royal Rumble.
Match #3: Rock N' Roll Express defeated Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff (both managed by Shawn Daivari)
- a great match, Rock N' Roll Express won when Ricky Morton pinned Volkoff via a CROSSBODY BLOCK.
- as a result, the Rock N' Roll Express will challenge the Fantastics for the World Tag Team Championship at the Royal Rumble this weekend while the Iron Sheik and Volkoff instead will receive the final 2 Smackdown spots in the Royal Rumble!
- Zbyszko points out however that there are still 4 surprise spots in the Royal Rumble and Striker wonders aloud who could be filling those 4 spots?

- afterward Brody and Snuka got their hands raised in victory together but Striker and Zbyszko point out that this weekend they will be adversaries when Brody defends the World Championship against Snuka at the Royal Rumble.

- Houston won via a dropkick as the recent losing streak for Windham continues
Smackdown Preshow Match: Heavenly Bodies (managed by Melina) defeated Boogie Woogie Man and Brian Christopher
- Heavenly Bodies got the win when Stan Lane pinned Boogie Woogie Man via a RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP.
- As a result, the Heavenly Bodies remain undefeated under Melina even though they still have not made it to PPV.

Match #1: Dream Team defeated the Midnight Bees ("The Rocker" Marty Jannetty and Jim Brunzell,) the Vachons, and the Sheepherders in a Vegas Traditional Opening 4 Way Elimination match
- the Midnight Bees were eliminated when Mad Dog Vachon pinned Brunzell via a running knee lift with a handful of tights

Match #3: World Tag Team Champions Fantastics defeated the Rock N' Roll Express
- First Fall: Bobby Fulton pinned Ricky Morton after the ROCKET LAUNCHER. Fantastics up 1-0.
- Second Fall: Morton pinned Fulton following the DOUBLE DROPKICK. Tied 1-1.
- Third/Final Fall: Fulton pinned Robert Gibson via his FANTASTIC CRADLE. Fantastics win 2-1 to retain the World Tag Team Championship.
Match #4: Ladies Champion Trish Stratus defeated Leilani Kai
- Kai took it right at Stratus after the bell but Sratus recovered and won via STRATUSFACTION to retain the Ladies Championship.
Match #5: VWF Tag Team Champions Road Warriors defeated the Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton and Dennis Condrey, managed by Jim Cornette)
- First Fall: Road Warriors won by DQ when the action spilled out of the ring where Jim Cornette smashed Hawk with his tennis racket whch led to the Midnight Express getting DQd. Road Warriors up 1-0.
- Second Fall: Midnight Express took this very competitive fall when Condrey pinned Hawk following an elbow slingshot. Tied 1-1.
- Third/Final Fall: At one point it seemed like the Road Warriors had the Midnight Express defeated but Cornette got away with smashing Animal on the back with his tennis racket to break up the pin attempt. Nevertheless, the Road Warriors later still own this fall when Hawk pinned Condrey following the DOOMSDAY DEVICE. Road Warriors win 2-1 to retain the VWF Tag Team Championship.
- Afterward, upset at Cornette for smashing both of them with his tennis racket earlier in the match, the Road Warriors gave Cornette a DOOMSDAY DEVICE.

The Fantastics vs the Rock n Rolls must have been an amazing match.
Lelani Kai is one of my favorite women wrestlers of all time.
Warriors and Midnight went just about how you'd expect. The big question is, how many bones did Cornette break when he got hit with the DOOMSDAY DEVICE
