Royal Rumble presented by VWF's RAW and Smackdown brands January 28, Year 2 T-Mobile Arena Las Vegas, NV (Third Fourth of Show, First Fourth and Second Fourth are both posted above)
Match #6: Buddy Rogers (managed by JJ Dillon) defeated Smackdown General Manager Angelo Poffo by DQ
in this grudge match, set up by Poffo after Rogers attacked him in his office on Smackdown for not placing him in the Royal Rumble, Poffo twice resisted Rogers's potent finisher the FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE and gave Rogers more resistance than Rogers apparently expected. The end came wen the action spilled out of the ring where Dillon grabbed a steel chair but Poffo grabbed the chair from Dillon and in a moment of lost self-control smashed it against the forehead of Rogers to draw the DQ.
Backstage: As Bobby Eaton and Stan Lane carry a beat up Jim Cornette in the back, they are approached by the Heavenly Bodies- as Striker and Zbyszko comment this co-branded event the Royal Rumble is the first meeting in the VWF between these two tag teams as the Midnight Express are on RAW and the Heavenly Bodies are on Smackdown. The Heavenly Bodies brag to Eaton and Condrey how they, unlike Eaton and Condrey, won their match tonight. Stan Lane then tells Eaton he (Eaton) has not had the same level of success he had teaming with him (Lane) in MLW where they won 4 World Tag Team Championship and 3 US Tag Team Championships. Condrey then responds to Lane that at least he and Eaton made tonight's PPV unlike Lane and Tom Prichard. Eaton and Condrey then continue carrying Cornette's battered body toward the medic's office.
Backstage: On his way to the ring for the next match, VWF Champion Randy Savage checks in on Poffo. Poffo says he is OK and that he just lost his composure against Rogers. Savage tells Poffo he is glad he is fine but that he (Poffo) made a mistake last Summer by not drafting him (Savage) and drafting Rogers instead.
Match #7: VWF Champion Randy Savage defeated RAW General Manager Joe Blanchard in a non-title match
- As a result of being a Survivor Series survivor, Blanchard earned a match against the VWF Champion but, since Savage was also a Survivor Series survivor, Blanchard first had to defeat Savage in a non-title match before earning a VWF Championship match.
- Savage won via his FLYING ELBOW SMASH to deny Blanchard a possible VWF Championship match. As a result, as Striker and Zbyszko point out- the last two Survivor Series survivors are Stan Hansen and Blackjack Mulligan both of whom could receive a second possible title opportunity if either one wins tonight's Royal Rumble.
Match #8: World Champion Bruiser Brody defeated Jimmy Snuka
- as this match began, Striker and Zbyszko pointed out that this is the 2nd time that Brody and Snuka, friends and tag team partners, have fought for the World Championship. In their previous such encounter, Brody won the World Championship from Snuka who was looking to return the favor tonight.
- Snuka gave his friend Brody lots of trouble in this match including two SUPERFLY LEAPS that Brody had to kick out of, but Brody retained when he got a pinfall via a one-hand body slam
- afterward, Brody was congratulated by Snuka and also Stan Hansen who was making his first VWF in-ring appearance with his long time rival Brody since- as Striker and Zbyszko point out- Hansen is on RAW and Brody is on Smackdown.
End of Third Fourth. Final Fourth- the Royal Rumble match- is up next!

Big win by DDP. While I wouldn't be high on his chances, it's still a great victory.

Like the strong debut for Abdullah. Can't wait to see how he does! And I like Zbyszko leaving the commentators' table to enter the match. Interested to see how DDP does from here. Another great card, Zeke!
