The two remaining tag team spots in the 64 tag team MLW Memorial Cup Tournament will be filled by 2 outside Special Attraction teams:
Fabulous Freebirds (Michael P.S. Hayes and Buddy "Jack" Roberts)
and
The Great Kabuki with The Great Muta
Note: The previously announced Special Attraction tag team of Bob Backlund and Pedro Morales will no longer be competing in the tournament but both Backlund and Morales are still signed for the MLW Memorial Cup where they will be competing in non-tournament Special Attraction matches throughout the 4 day weekend!

- The Conways' impressive recent winning streak (included victories over the Quebecers and the James Gang) ended here when Luke Williams pinned Tiger Conway Jr. after a DOUBLE GUTBUSTER.

Match #3: Intercontinental Champion Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Magnum TA defeated World Tag Team Champions Rock N' Roll Express in a non-title match
- as this match was starting, Striker and Zbyszko commented that they have been informed that the Rock N' Roll Express, who last year advanced to the finals of the MLW Memorial Cup before losing to the Road Warriors, will receive one of the 4 #1 seeds in this year's tournament.
- Duggan and Magnum TA got an impressive non-title victory over the current World Tag Team Champions when Magnum TA pinned Robert Gobson via a BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX.
In the Ring: Smackdown General Manager Teddy Long. Long says that one of the Special attraction matches he has signed for next week's Smackdown- taking place the night before Day 1 of the MLW Memorial Cup- is Bob Backlund and Pedro Morales vs the Wild Samoans!
Match #4: Bruiser Brody and Stan Hansen defeated Buddy Rogers and Tully Blanchard (both accompanied by JJ Dillon)
- Brody and Hansen won when Hansen pinned Blanchard via a LARIAT.
- afterward, World Champion Harley Race appeared and informed Brody and Hansen that Long told him next week on Smackdown it will be Brody/Hansen vs Race/Vader (Race's MLW Memorial Cup tag partner!)

- commentators: Matt Striker and Larry Zbyszko who begin the show by saying that tonight fans will see both major Special Attraction matches involving some of the guest tag team participating in this weekend's MLW Memorial Cup and MLW Memorial Cup Showcase matches!
Match #1: The Von Erichs (Kevin and Kerry, accompanied by David) defeated the Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton, Stan Lane, managed by Melina) in a Special Attraction match
- this match pitted the #3 seed of Bracket B (Von Erichs) against the #5 seed of Bracket A (Midnight Express)
- the Von Erichs got the victory when Kerry Von Erich submitted Stan Lane via a sleeper
- afterward, the Von Erichs say they will be appearing tomorrow night on EAWA to take on the Freebirds in a 6 man tornado match!
Backstage: RAW General Manager Joe Blanchard is with the MLW Memorial Cup entries of Johnny Saint/Val Venis, Nick Bockwinkel/Ray Stevens, Gorgeously Exotic, and Stars and Stripes who represent Brackets A, B, C, and D respectively. Blanchard tells them this is the schedule for Friday's 1st Round matchups: Bracket A in the late morning, Bracket B in the early afternoon, Bracket C in the late afternoon, Brakcet D in the evening.

- Kabuki and Muta won when The Great Kabuki pinned Misawa after a deathjump
