It is now time to start the MLW Memorial Cup!
Vegas Wrestling Federation (VWF) MLW Memorial Cup Day 1- mid morning May 25, Year 2 Downtown Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC) Las Vegas, NV (First Half of Show)
- commentators: Matt Striker and Larry Zbyszko
Match #1: Al Snow and Vampiro defeated the Miracle Violence Connection in a First Round match
- The MVC controlled most of this match but the surprising end came when Al Snow pinned "Dr. Death" Steve Williams via his SNOW PLOW.
- Striker and Zbyszko point out that one match into this 63 match tournament and we already have a major upset as a #13 seed just got past a #4 seed
- afterward, Williams and Gordy- who were clearly not on the same page going into this tournament as shown recently on EAWA- argued about their loss and early exit from the tournament
Match #2: The Funks defeated Justin Credible and Mikey Whipwreck in a First Round match
- Credible and Whipwreck out up a good effort, but the visiting Funks advanced when Terry Funk pinned Whipwreck via a PILEDRIVER.
- afterward, Credible and Whipwreck argued about their elimination loss and then Credible attacked Whipwreck from behind with his SINGAPORE CANE!
Match #3: Johnny Valentine (managed by JJ Dillon) and Ivan Koloff defeated Fit Finlay and David Taylor in a First Round match
- this match ended when Koloff pinned Taylor via RUSSIAN SICKLE
Match #4: VWF Tag Team Champions Road Warriors defeated Jake "The Milkman" Milliman and George South in a First Round match
- Milliman and South actually briefly got in some surprising offense but the Road Warriors (last year's MLW Memorial Cup winners) advanced when Road Warrior Animal pinned Milliman following the DOOMSDAY DEVICE.

Vegas Wrestling Federation (VWF) MLW Memorial Cup Day 1- mid morning May 25, Year 2 Downtown Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC) Las Vegas, NV (Second Half of Show, First Half is posted above)
Match #5: The Crusher and Jackie Fargo defeated Blackjack Mulligan and King Kong Bundy (both managed by Bobby Heenan) in a First Round match
- a good match with lots of out of the ring brawling, The Crusher and Fargo won when Fargo pinned Mulligan via a running knee to gut.
- as a result, The Crusher and Fargo advance to the 2nd round where they will take on the Road Warriors!
Match #6: Johnny Saint and Val Venis defeated Michael "P.S." Hayes and Buddy "Jack" Roberts in a First Round match
- the Freebirds were in control until, while on defense, Saint suddenly hit Hayes with THE RUSS ABBOT to win the match and score the upset!
- as a result, as Striker and Zbyszko point out, in the 2nd round it will now be a #13 seed (Al Snow/Vampiro) vs a #12 seed (Saint/Venis) which means either a #12 or a #13 seed will advance to the Sweet Sixteen and thus, if the Road Warriors get past The Crusher and Faro in the next round, Hawk and Animal perhaps seemingly have an easier path to advance to at least the Elite Eight.
Match #7: VWF Chairman of the Board "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase and Larry "The Axe" Hennig defeated the Texas Hangmen by DQ in a First Round match
- this match ended in a DQ when the Texas Hangmen got into an argument with the referee and then attacked the ref with their rope
Match #8: EAWA Tag Team Champions Vachons (managed by The Sicilian) defeated Sam Houston and "Cowboy" Scott Casey in a First Round match
- Mad Dog Vachon put away Houston after a double stomp.

- commentators: Matt Striker. Striker is doing this portion of the tournament alone for commentary as Larry Zbyszko is about to compete.
Match #1: Intercontinental Champion Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Magnum TA defeated the Body Donnas in a First Round match
- The Body Donnas looked great and came extremely close to scoring the upset here as they made a total of 8 near pinfalls. But Candido's decision to go for a deathjump against Duggan proved unwise as Duggan rolled out of the way and a few moves later Duggan pinned Candido via FLYING SPEAR. Duggan and Magnum TA escape to the next round.
Match #2: Mitusharu Misawa and Toshiaki Kawada defeated Johnny Mantell and "Mr. Electricity" Steve Regal in a First Round match
- with minimal trouble, Misawa and Kawada advanced when Misawa pinned Mantell after a roaring elbow

- Firpo got in some good offense against Hansen but Brody and Hansen won when Hansen pinned Firpo after two LARIATS.

- Zbyszko and Perez looked good but got outlasted when Douglas pinned Zbyszko via BELLY TO BELLY SUOPLEX.

- this was a 9 seed defeating an 8 seed as Stars and Stripes advanced when Del Wilkes pinned EAWA General Manager Al Poffo following the STAR SPANGLED SUPLEX.

The biggest upset so far in this tournament as the #14 seeded Bolsheviks shocked the #3 visiting Sting and Dingo Warrior when Nikolai Volkoff pinned Dingo Warrior via BACKBREAKER DROP while getting away with putting his feet on the ropes for extra leverage.

- The Horsemen scored the easy victory when Rogers quickly tapped out Richards via his finishing FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE.
Match #4: Juventuud Guerrera and Konnan defeated the East-West Connection in a First Round match
- the East-West Connection controlled most of the match but Konnan was able to fight his way out of Adonis's GOOD NIGHT IRENE and come back to win via his NIAGARA DRIVER to score the upset as Striker and Zbyszko remark that the visiting tag teams have not done very well in the First Round as so far only the Funks have managed to avoid elimination.
