Vegas Wrestling Federation (VWF) MLW Memorial Cup Day 2- evening May 26, Year 2 Downtown Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC) Las Vegas, NV (Second Half of Show, First Half is posted above)
Match #5: Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton and Stan Lane, managed by Melina) defeated The Great Kabuki and Great Muta in a Second Round match
- A really good match seemingly won by Kabuki and Muta when Muta hit a MOONSAULT on Eaton. But Melina jumped on the apron and distracted the referee to prevent him from making the 3 count and thus allowing Eaton and Lane to illegally double team Muta and hit him with the VEG-O-MATIC and allowing Eaton to get the pinfall victory as the Midnight Express escaped to the Sweet Sixteen.
Match #6: VWF Champion Randy Savage and Lou Thesz defeated the Armstrongs in a Second Round match
- in this final Second Round match, Savage and Thesz won this match with minimal trouble as Thesz pinned Brad Armstrong via his THESZ PRESS.
- as a result, Striker and Zbyszko point out that all 4 #1 seeds are still alive going into the Sweet Sixteen and the other 12 remaining teams include 3 #2 seeds, 1 #3 seed., 3 #4 seeds, 2 #6 seeds, 1 #7 seed, 1 #11 seed, and 1 #12 seed.
Match #7: Bob Backlund defeated Hulk Hogan in a Special Attraction match
- to close out Day 2, Backlund made Hogan submit to his CROSSFACE CHICKEN WING.
- afterward, Backlund (who was a Ganeral Manager back in the MLW days) said he misses his time in MLW and would be interested in seeking some type of executive position in the VWF where he would only wrestle on special occasions like this weekend. Backlund's announcement brought out VWF Chairman of the Board "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase and his henchman Larry "The Axe" Hennig. DiBiase said Backlund could have an executive job in the VWF if he agrees to join his (DiBiase's) Cabinet. Backlund turns down that offer because he does not agree with DiBiase's character. DiBiase then makes a signal and the Valiants (part of DiBiase's Cabinet and they got eliminated earlier today) jumped Backlund from behind as DiBiase laughs and says on Day 4- the day after tomorrow- Backlund's Special Appearance match will be a 1 on 2 handicap match against the Valiants and then after Day 4 Backlund will be gone from the VWF when his Special Appearances contract expires when the MLW Memorial Cup ends.
End of Show. End of Day 2. Day 3 posted tomorrow.
