Time to start ending Day 4!
Vegas Wrestling Federation (VWF) MLW Memorial Cup Day 4- evening May 28, Year 2 Downtown Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC) Las Vegas, NV (First Third of Show)
- commentators: Matt Striker and Larry Zbyszko who say this evening's show will be divided into thirds with each segment highlighted by one of the 3 remaining tournament matches.
Match #1: Toshiaki Kawada defeated Mitsuharu Misawa in a Special Attraction match
- This match went back and forth until it ended with a victory for Kawada when he pinned Misawa following 2 consecutive HIGH ANGLE POWERBOMBS.
Match #2: Ladies Champion Sherri Martel defeated Mildred Burke
- Burke was in control for most of this match and several times almost put Martel away. Martel however made a key reversal and then went for a spinning toehold. Burke would not tap but Martel then hit her TOP ROPE SPLASH and got the pinfall victory to retain the Ladies Championship.
Match #3: Killer Kowalski (accompanied by Abdullah the Butcher) defeated Intercontinental Champion Hacksaw Jim Duggan
- Kowalski dominated this match and tapped out Duggan via his KOWALSKI CLAW.
- As a result, Kowalski is the new Intercontinental Champion which is his first championship he has ever won during his time in MLW/VWF.
Match #4: World Tag Team Champions Rock N' Roll Express defeated the Funks in a Final Four match
- Ricky Morton pinned Terry Funk following DOUBLE DROPKICK.
- As a result, the Rock N' Roll Express have advanced to the MLW Memorial Cup Finals for the 2nd straight year. Striker and Zbyszko wonder aloud whether this time- unlike last year when the Rock N' Roll Express lost to the Road Warriors in the Finals- if the Rock N' Roll Express can win the MLW Memorial Cup this year?
End of First Third. Second Third posted next.

I always underestimate Rock n Roll. Just voted for the Funks to take the tournament before checking this. Very cool tournament so far man.

Yeah, I started to do a poll for the Final Four that I was going to let go for about 24 hours, but then I decided to keep on playing a few more matches tonight.

Vegas Wrestling Federation (VWF) MLW Memorial Cup Day 4- evening May 28, Year 2 Downtown Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC) Las Vegas, NV (Second Third of Show, First Third is posted above)
Match #5: East-West Connection defeated Chris Adams and Gino Hernandez in a Special Attraction non-tournament match
- "Gentleman" Chris Adams and "The Handsome Half-Breed" Gino Hernandez turned out to be the surprise mystery tag team opponent of the East-West Connection.
- this match ended when Adrian Adonis put away Hernandez via GOODNIGHT IRENE
Match #6: Bob Backlund defeated the Valiants (accompanied by VWF Chairman of the Board "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase and Larry "The Axe" Hennig) in a handicap match
- Backlund overcame the 2 on 1 advantage of the Valiants and won by pinning Jimmy Valiant via a ROLLING BACKBRIDGE.
- Afterward an angry DiBiase and Hennig jumped and double teamed Backlund. DiBiase told Backlund if he (Backlund) wants an executive job in the VWF then he (Backlund) will have to go through him (DiBiase!)
Match #7: Ray Stevens, King King Bundy, and Blackjack Mulligan (all managed by Bobby Henan) defeated the Von Erichs by DQ
- this was a non-tournament Von Erich Family vs Heenan Family matchup
The end of this match came when Kerry Von Erich went for his IRON CLAW on Mulligan but Heenan pushed Mulligan out of the way and Kerry accidentally instead placed the referee (who was standing behind Mulligan) in the IRON CLAW leading to the referee immediately DQing the Von Erichs.
Match #8: Buddy Rogers and Tully Blanchard (both managed by JJ Dillon) defeated the Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton and Stan Lane, both managed by Melina) by DQ
- This was a good match until the ending. The end came when Dillon outside of the ring was hitting on Melina who slapped him. Dillon started yelling at Melina and advanced toward her until Eaton and Lane left the ring and smashed Dillon with steel chairs. Leaving the ring to come to Dillon's help, Rogers and Blanchard then also got hit with steel chairs by Eaton and Lane and the referee DQd the Midnight Express.
- As a result, the MLW Memorial Cup Finals will be fought between two Smackdown tag teams- the World Tag Team Champions Rock N' Roll Express vs Buddy Rogers and Tully Blanchard!
- Afterward, Smackdown General Manager Teddy Long appeared and said, after DQs ended the last 2 matches, he is going to make sure the Finals have a clear winner and make the finals no DQ!
End of Second Third. Final Third posted next.

The non-tournament matches really add something to the overall event. Reminds me of the BOLA where the eliminated participants show up and rock the fans.
The finals are a classic match up for sure. Straight out of early eights NWA with Rogers playing Flair's role as the Nature Boy.

Vegas Wrestling Federation (VWF) MLW Memorial Cup Day 4- evening May 28, Year 2 Downtown Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC) Las Vegas, NV (Final Third of Show, First Third and Second Third are both posted above)
Match #9: Michael Hayes and Buddy Roberts defeated the MVC in a Special Attraction non-tournament match
- Hayes pinned Steve "Dr. Death" Williams via a BULLDOG.
- afterward, Gordy again expressed frustration with Williams as the two of them were upset in the first round of the MLW Memorial Cup and then Gordy joined his former Freebirds teammates in attacking Williams as it appears the MVC are no longer a tag team.
Match #10: Hulk Hogan defeated Sting in a Special Attraction match
- Hogan won this match after a LEG DROP
Match #11: VWF Champion Randy Savage defeated Nick Bockwinkel (managed by Bobby Heenan)
- an incredible match and a likely MOTY candidate, Bockwinkel came extremely close to winning the VWF Championship but Savage managed to get the win via his FLYING ELBOW SMASH.
- As a result, Savage retained the VWF Championship.
Match #12: Buddy Rogers and Tully Blanchard (both managed by JJ Dillon) defeated the World Tag Team Champions Rock N' Roll Express in the MLW Memorial Cup Finals in a no DQ match
- this match ended when Blanchard, taking advantage of the no DQ rules announced earlier by Teddy Long, deliberately used a foreign object to pin Robert Gibson.
- As a result, Rogers and Blanchard win the MLW Memorial Cup.
End of Show. End of the annual MLW Memorial Cup.

Bravo! Bravo! (Gives standing ovation)
The tournament was a spectacle of awesomeness! I didnt comment on every round but I was there every step of the way... I agree that adding non-tournament matches to the card added an unique flavor that is similar to BOLA...
I am happy with the winners of the tourney and was crossing my fingers for them to win (not a big fan of the RnR Express for some reason...not sure why but dont care for them)... what's your thoughts on the winners?
I have the Bunkhouse Tournament coming in about ten or so cards and hope that it is nearly as exciting as some of this tournaments match ups.
Great series sir!
