SSW Heavyweight Championship Tournament Opening Round
Angelo "King Kong" Mosca w/Lord Zoltan vs. Koko B. Ware
Ware tried his best to use his speed and agility to stick and move, even delivering a spectacular flying dropkick, but eventually, Mosca got in close enough to get his hands on Koko. After an ugly heart punch, Mosca followed up with a Big Nasty Elbow for the 1-2-3.
Missing Link w/Lord Zoltan vs. Danny Hodge
Hodge came out on fire, using his obviously superior technical skills to keep the Link off balance. The wildness and unpredictability of the Missing Link also came into play, however. After Hodge missed a turnbuckle charge, he tumbled to the outside. Link followed and whipped Hodge into the guardrail and got a near countout win, but Hodge made it back into the ring. After several exchanges, Zoltan jumped up on the apron, distracting Hodge, who turned around right into a vicious big boot from the Link. Link made the cover for the somewhat surprising pinfall. Zoltan is elated after the win until he realizes both his men, Mosca and the Missing Link, have to face each other in round two!
Dick Hutton vs. Brent Albright
Hometown hero Dick Hutton made relatively short work of Albright, pinning him after a side salto.
"Dr. Death" Steve Williams vs. Lord Zoltan
Speaking of hometown heroes, no one received a bigger reaction than Dr. Death. The crowd exploded as he entered the arena, and Zoltan's worries about Link and Mosca squaring off seemed to be the least of his worries. Williams steamrolled right over Zoltan, mercifully pinning what was left of him after a Doctor Bomb.
SSW Heavyweight Championship Tournament Second Round
Angelo "King Kong" Mosca vs. The Missing Link
Conspicuous by his absence, Lord Zoltan seemed to need more recovery time after his beating at the hands of Dr. Death. Mosca and Link, however, went at it in a wild brawl that saw the action spill all over the ringside area. Once again, it was Mosca and his Big Nasty Elbow that came out on top, advancing to the finals.
Dick Hutton vs. "Dr. Death" Steve Williams
Both of these Oklahomans shook hands before the match, but once the bell rang, it was all business. Hutton mounted an impressive offense, but Williams' power was just too much to overcome. This time it was the Oklahoma Stampede that led to the 1-2-3, and our final is set!
Exhibition Match
The New Age Outlaws vs. The Tolos Brothers
Another wild affair, this one ended in a double DQ when all four men ignored the referee's orders and continued to brawl. After the decision, the action did not stop. Chairs got involved, and Road Dogg was put through a table. I don't think we've seen the end of this rivalry.
SSW Heavyweight Championship Tournament Final
Angelo "King Kong" Mosca w/Lord Zoltan vs. "Dr. Death" Steve Williams
Mosca and Zoltan pulled out all the stops, employing every underhanded tactic in the book, and even some new ones. The good Doctor, however, was not to be denied. After a double noggin knocker on the ring apron laid out both Mosca and Zoltan, Williams followed up with a football tackle and the Oklahoma Stampede for the decisive victory and the championship belt!
"Dr. Death" Steve Williams is the inaugural SSW Heavyweight Champion!
