Eerie...Of the 5 biggest bands of the grunge movement (Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots and Pearl Jam), 4 have now seen their frontman die way, way too early at their own hands (rumors are circulating that Cornell was found with a band around his neck) Factor in that the beginning of the grunge movement coincided with the overdose death of Andrew Wood, lead singer of Mother Love Bone, who morphed into Pearl Jam, and whom Temple of the Dog was a tribute to, and the entire history of grunge has an unshakeable black cloud forever hanging over it. Godspeed, Chris. You're musical legacy lives on not once, but twice. Rest In Peace.

Very sad news made even more so now that we know the cause of death. I was as big of a hair metal fan as you could find, as most can tell by my board name, and I resented grunge at first but over time I grew to appreciate the bands and to this day I am a huge Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and STP fan. I never really got into Nirvana but I don't dislike them or anything. Hard to believe that Eddie Vedder is now the only lead singer left from those bands. Thanks, Swarm, for posting that Hunger Strike video as Temple of the Dog deserves more recognition. Anyway, funny story is that as much as I enjoyed Soundgarden I grew to hate Spoonman because it was all that my local rock station would play. Heaven forbid we hear Outshined or Black Hole Sun, among other great songs. One of my favorite songs by them is Rusty Cage and, ironically, my favorite version of the song is actually the cover version done by Johnny Cash. Sad loss today for sure, RIP Chris Cornell you had one of the all-time greatest voices in rock history.

I have the both versions of Rusty Cage on my ipod and I swear I hit repeat over and over when that Cash track comes on. Good stuff from the Man in Black

Truly sad news... One of my absolute favorite vocalists of all-time... When I was still touring with cover bands, Outshined and Hunger Strike were two of my favorite songs to perform.

Sad news. Never a fan of Soundgarden, but as a fellow frontman and touring musician, I have to support the brotherhood. That guy had some amazing pipes too!
