Draws

I'm attempting to begin a project that takes place in the 80's and I had a question. How do you guys handle draws? How do you handle a 10 minute draw with 2 prelim wrestlers vs. a 1 hour broadway with Flair? I would love any and all input!

One way to do it would be to say that, when each wrestler has accumulated a certain number of fatigue points without a pin or submission being registered, then the match is declared a draw. Vary the number of points based on the scheduled match length.

Rematch ? 30 mins ? 60 Mins ? Then maybe a special match ? Start of a feud - You cant beat me for the lower ranked wrestler ?

Vary the number of points based on the scheduled match length. That's an interesting way to do it and I certainly may implement it. I know I've seen people talk in the past about only allowing a particular number of moves before the draw would occur. I guess my worry with counting moves or fatigue points is that I might be pulling the plug on an epic match.

I was talking more along the lines of how do you determine when draws occur. I'm trying to implement a system that could potentially work for 10 minute time limit matches with prelim guys as well as 60 minute world title matches.

This may not help you at all, but in order to cut down on those roll-fests that aren't interesting I came up with the following method. Every time someone rolls on defense, I add up the results of 1, 2 or 3. When a wrestler hits 20 points, I add a fatigue token. Tokens get added again at 40 and 50, and if I reach 60 without a winner, the match is a draw. The last few moves become very tense with "the time is running out!" Of course it might be too long for you, requires extra "book-keeping", and was created to cut down on non-interesting matches, but maybe it can spark an idea in your head.

Draws for me are simple. When I get tired of the match, it's a draw.

I think this would work great for world title matches! I especially like how it relates to the "time ticking down" aspect of a longer match. Thank you for sharing!

I set a time limit depending on the importance of the match. If the time runs out then I do 10 more offensive moves (kind of like the final 10 seconds). If no one wins during those final 10 moves, then it's a draw.
