Ok I need your help. I have been a GWF promoter for years but have never really gotten past 2089. I have the following sets:
Classics: 2074,79,84,86 Regular Sets: 2087,88,89
Now this is where you guys come in. I am looking at a few sets out there and wonder your thoughts and perhaps you can explain some things for me.
1. There are some Classics sets I have yet to get. I am wondering your thoughts on what set is the best; Classics 3000, Dimension X Classics, GWF Birthday Bash or Son of Bash? I have seen the characters from the website and noticed some of the guys are the same but are the cards?
2. Invasion 2090 to help me read the storyline and add onto my already historic fed that I have from 2074 to 2089.
3. EARLY CLASSICS OF THE 2070's and 2080's. These would let me fill in some gaps in my Classics fed or allow me to restart Classics to get a more accurate history.
4. COTG: GENESIS Graphic Novel. I love reading books and a Jack Hood card is a bonus. Heard he is messy and I like those kind of characters to add a feel to the game.
5. Get a whole whooping collection of SE cards. It would help in the GWF: Broken Galaxy federation I am part of since Time lines dont matter.
I think these are some viable options. Let me know what you guys think. I am in a dilemma. Thanks

I would suggest getting Early Classics, Genesis and Invasion 2090 as it would help tie up the eras that you are into now. The other classics and Bashes aren't as meaningful until you have read the GWF sets from that era. For SE cards I would suggest the CAC winners as they can mostly fit into any era (they are Kati, Comedy, Tragedy, Halcon Oro, Varsity, Sabre).

the Bash ones usually are the same if the names are familiar. They were mostly alternate drawings. I'd get Early Classics and perhaps COTG Genesis and work my way up from there.

I'd either go with the Early Classics or Invasion. The Bash and other classics can wait until later.

IMO, Early Classics and the Genesis novel are the way to go. Restart 2074 and enjoy!

One more I forgot to ask about was Promoter Madness. Would they work well with the older cards or are they more written for new beginnings?
Also thank you for your input really means a lot to me.

They follow more current rules but balance-wise, they'd fit right in.

What about their storylines? Would I be lost since I havent done New Beginnings?

I'd really wait until New Beginnings to play the GWFZ, its geared more towards that time period and even mentions connections to wrestlers on the current GWF roster. IMO, it should be held back until at least 2120 or so.

You can't go wrong with Invasion 2090. The continuity aspect is compelling as you get to work through some major upgrades for some of the stars you've previously established. Cory did a nice overview of the set here. Early Classics is also a must...and not only for the history/nostalgia element of it. The dynamics and creative options for Promoters booking through the 13 Year Golden Period will be expanding radically in the not too distant future. Check out Mike M's very detailed rundown of EC for some solid info.
