A terrible tragedy. I have to agree with Gunslinger that I think many of us here thought about our own Vegas when this story broke. Glad to know you are ok, Vegas, and my thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of the deceased.

In the aftermath of this local tragedy, at work in the past 24 hours we unfortunately had a situation where a student (not one of mine- either current or former) last night posted a widely circulated threat on social media that they were going to shoot up the school I work at today. Especially since the threat was made in the same city just about 72 hours after the worst mass shooting in US History at a site (Mandalay Bay casino) that you can see in the distance from campus, parents understandably did not want to send their children to school today and there was a huge absentee rate. Even one of my AP classes where I normally have almost 100% attendance barely had 50% attendance today due to the threat that targeted my school. And with everyone in the wonderful city that you call home. thanks, this week has been insane with the worst shooting incident in US History followed by the shooting threat at my workplace I posted the link for earlier that led to a student currently under arrest with bail set for $25,000. I plan to sleep for about 12 hours tonight as I have only averaged about 4 hours/night the past 4 nights. |

Such a senseless tragedy to happen in such a great city. There are, sadly, some really sick people in this world. Grateful that Zeke and my other friends in Vegas were safe. Gave blood last week, donated some money to the Las Vegas Victims fund and wrote all my representatives, including the White House. We've got to figure this problem out.

an extremely scary update for me:
the news says the killer two weekends ago booked (and arrived at) a hotel room overlooking the Downtown Live Events Center for the local alternative music radio station's annual festival.
Now I would never go to that Life is Beautiful festival as I can not stand the stuff they play- but the following weekend I am at that exact same venue (with my friend Ofi) for a different show two days before the shooting at the other venue across from Mandalay Bay (and the killer a week earlier had scouted out the venue I was at.)
It is scary that the killer just a week earlier scouted the venue I was attending since I was there just two days before he attacked the other venue.
