Hi!
Sorry to post this HERE, but I figured I would get the fastest reply if I posted this in this section.
Although I don't have Online, I'm pretty sure when that started up, there was talk of something like an upgrade/downgrade of cards during the "transition" from year to year for playing cards that did not get a new card during the next year (the new year that a player's fed was moving into). Maybe I'm wrong about this, please correct me...
Example: Pit Viper had his 2087 card. When a player's fed moved into 2088, since there was no official card for him for 2088, Online would make a (slight or severe?) change to his playing stats, like change his Ropes or Deathjump up one or down one (depending on some factor?).
I bring this up because I was wondering if anyone has come up with a "VARYING STAT CHART"? Something like a TEMPORARY change in a wrestler's stats (one or more stats). If a wrestler is slightly downgraded (worse by one on their ROPES or RING, etc), then you could just say he was suffering from jet lag or the flu (shades of the Dream Team, as Johnny V had given as excuses). If a wrestler improved slightly, then you could say he was having a great day, or had trained extra-hard for the match.
At any rate, changes would only be temporary. You could print up several blanks of "ROPES --, TURNBUCKLE --,", etc, and just pencil in all their ratings when the match occurred, and overlay this on top of the playing card. Each match could be rolled to see if any temporary changes were to be made in the match (I haven't worked out a percentage yet, was going to ask the Community about that). Slight changes like these may not affect gameplay, OR they may swing the match one way or the other, you never know till you roll!
Also, this could be done to PERMANENTLY change cards too, at year's end, if the player wanted to. Example: I wanted to keep Sectarian around so he could team with Mandrill once Mandrill was introduced. I would have improved Sectarian to Mandrill's level (randomly or purposely, I hadn't decided at the time) so the two could be a kind of "Planet of the Apes" team. It didn't happen, but I had thought about it at least.
To get back to my original question though: Was there (or is there still) a system for Online in which playing cards are tweaked slightly during their non-card years, and if so, what does that process look like?
