Biggest issue for me with Gustovich is his lack of posing. He seemed to put everyone in one of two poses.

Biggest issue for me with Gustovich is his lack of posing. He seemed to put everyone in one of two poses. I can tell you that drawing human anatomy from memory can be very difficult, its the reason why a lot of artists will use some sort of reference when drawing people. You've seen those wooden dummies before I'm sure, not only are those used to teach, they are used for posing references. A lot also use photo references to help with anatomy because its very easy to get it wrong and when that happens, a drawing can end up looking off. I think that's why some of Bendis and Su's art sometimes looked slightly 'off'.

Snelly is the GOAT IMO, everyone from his days are amazing. You can actually see Bendis grow as an artist through his sets. I believe his work got better over time. Yet I agree he had some of the worst cards in the history of the COTG. (His original Pegasus upgrade immediately comes to mind) Su’s art I loved at the time. Looking back it seemed like each character had a noire, gritty vibe to them. Nothing wrong with it, but it might not be for everyone. I loved Hannibal King’s art. As for the modern sets. I have some but haven’t played any so the artists don’t come to mind immediately. what sets did Gustovich do?

Snelly is my vote for most underappreciated artist...loved his stuff. Bendis had his good and bad points but you can tell he phoned in the last stuff for 2108/9.

Since Promoter Prime has been brought up, are the old school print issues of The Promoter available at all? I'd love to get my hands on as many of them as possible. I used to have a subscription and still have a few issues but they aren't in the best condition. One of the issues I still have features Twin Blood w/ Johnny Rocket on the cover. Its a great piece of art by Jeremy Su. Get in touch with Todd - I just ordered a bunch of old-school print copies of the Promoter from him a couple weeks ago.
