Hello. There are some sets that are not available suck as WAR GAMES 2093. We have to order them and they come as a PDF. How do we turn that PDF into something tangible and playable? Will Staples print out the PDF on cardstock and print the cards and handbook? How does this work? Thanks.

stevie- I just actually asked this question to Todd a few days ago. They're still working on getting War Games 2093 up online. It isn't available at all at the moment. I imagine once it is online you'd just get it printed out on cardstock at a Staples or something.

Having a 3rd party print and cut the stock for you is probably the most convenient, however, sometimes they make a big deal about the game being copyrighted and will refuse to actually print and cut the sheets for you, meaning you'll have to do it yourself. I've learned how to do it myself. It isn't difficult to print out your own cards if you have a good printer and card stock.

The PDF's are super convenient and as I've said, if you have a good printer and quality card stock, your home printed sets will come out looking just as good as the official stuff, though I still prefer getting physical cards directly from FED HQ. In the end, beggars can't be choosers, so when it comes to out of print stuff, I'll happily take the PDF alternatives.

I've been trying to archive all of my sets. After losing all my stuff I've become keenly aware of how easy it can be to lose everything, so I'm motivated to back everything up digitally just in case. I can't afford to buy everything a 3rd time. lol

Let me take you all back to December 1991. Now, I've probably told this story a few times on various COTG boards, but it never gets old, LOL.
I had been playing the original set for a year. Then, I somehow found a COTG envelope because my mom didn't hide it well enough, haha. From watching my mom steam open my dad's mail on the stove (their marriage wasn't the best at that point and she must have been paranoid about something) and taking notes, I then steamed open the sacred COTG envelope, got everything out, walked to the library, and copied EVERYTHING. I just stapled the card front and backs together. After playing Invasion 2088 for 3 weeks, I then I put on an Oscar-worthy performance on Christmas morning. Mom was none the wiser.
However, karma hit me bad a month later when my dad got ticked at the mess in the basement and threw out all my cards (except 2088, ironically). Of course, I turned it into a storyline, LOL.
What I'm getting at here is that it's not the "style" we get the card info; it's the info itself. I played a WGX fed and never had physical cards (I just played CACs on COTG Online). But hey, whatever works for you. My favorite part of this game and community is that everyone does it their own way. Happy rolling/clicking/whatever!

I don't remember reading this on Chris' old Board, but that's a GREAT story! Nice life hack you learned on the steaming open letters, haha! Yeah, I used to make copies so I could keep my originals in mint condition! Then, if I wore out a copy, I could always make a fresh one! The copy place I used to go to in town was always great at lining up the copies (front and back) so they'd come out as perfect as possible! Not like Kinko's that wouldn't care at all, and would charge you for mistakes and not print up TV scripts either! (So glad they aren't around anymore up here!) So yeah, I'd love to see that Oscar-worthy performance! I'm sure it'd get quite a few laughs from everyone here, haha!
