Many thanks for the comments Pariah, Bookerbill, Troy and Crimson. It's been a while since my last show post (what else is new lol) but I'm happy to get back to it. The 100th edition of ASW was so much fun to put together and roll out. The look back to the first episode was something I really wanted to include and who better than Bill Apter to review it. That was pretty fun. I was shocked when Bobby Heenan went over Gorilla Monsoon in the tag match but I was happy to finally get some use out of Gorilla's wrestling card. Stay tuned for more on Gorilla as I plan to have him both wrestle and announce from now on.
Coming up next is action from Arena Mexico as Lucha MAX takes center stage in LOW...
Card #1411 - Arena Mexico - Mexico City, Mexico - Lucha MAX
01) Melina, Shotzi Blackheart & Killer Kelly defeated Ida Mae Martinez, Susan Green & Hyan
Primera Caída (1st Fall): Shotzi Blackheart pinned Hyan – Diving Senton Segunda Caída (2nd Fall): Melina pinned Ida Mae Martinez – Reverse DDT (ch)
* Empress Ring trios action opened the show as Ida Mae Martinez, Susan Green & Hyan faced Melina, Shotzi Blackheart & Killer Kelly. This was a fantastic two fall battle with both teams having good runs on offense. Blackheart took the first fall when she pinned Hyan after coming off the top rope with a Diving Senton. The well decorated Martinez, a former Empress Ring champion and four-time LOW Women’s & SHIMMER champion, attempted to rally her team in the second fall but they came up short. Melina made a slick counter on Martinez hitting a Reverse DDT (ch) for the pin.
02) Little Beaver defeated Demus
Primera Caída (1st Fall): Little Beaver pinned Demus - Boomerang Segunda Caída (2nd Fall): Little Beaver pinned Demus – Flying Cross Body Block
* With a Minis Division now open in Lucha MAX, it has given the chance for LOW’s smallest stars to have something exclusive for them. Little Beaver and Demus were looking to show the strongest fight and they did just that in a hard fought two fall encounter. Beaver got a quick win in the first fall by pinning Demus after hitting the Boomerang. Demus came back strong throwing everything but the kitchen sink at Beaver, including delivering the dreaded Martinete. Beaver somehow survived that and won it in two straight deathjump style as he pinned Demus with a Flying Cross Body Block.
03) Willie Mack, Rey Horus & Laredo Kid defeated Doctor X, Sam Adonis & Gringo Loco
Primera Caída (1st Fall): Willie Mack pinned Sam Adonis – Seated Blockbuster (ch) Segunda Caída (2nd Fall): Rey Horus pinned Sam Adonis – Pizza DDT
* Exciting trios action featured the Lucha MAX debut of Willie Mack as he teamed with Rey Horus & Laredo Kid to take on Doctor X, Gringo Loco & Sam Adonis. Da’ Mack had been competing in ECW most of last year before making the move south of the border. After a hectic first fall of action, Mack put his team up one to zero when he caught Adonis with the Seated Blockbuster (ch) for the pin. Doctor X was not very happy and got into it with Da’ Mack in between falls. The lucha libre talents of Horus and Kid iced this one in the second fall. After Kid took Adonis out with the Laredo Boom, it was Horus delivering the Pizza DDT on him for the pin and a two falls to none victory.
04) Empress Ring Tag Team Titles: Joyce Grable & Thekla defeated Fire 'N Flava to win the titles
* The 3rd Empress Ring Tag Team Champions Fire ‘N Flava, Kiera Hogan & Tasha Steelz, put the belts on the line against the tough combination of Joyce Grable & the “Toxic Spider” Thekla. The veteran Grable out of Columbus, GA, and the Austrian-based Thekla make for a unique international pairing as the defending champions found out. Fire ‘N Flava have been tough fighting champions and it showed as they battled Grable and Thekla tooth and nail. Steelz looked to have it won with The Drop on Thekla but Grable made the save. Hogan was on the defensive for a good stretch after that but came back with a superkick on Grable for a near fall.
The home stretch saw Thekla with a spear on Steelz followed by Grable with the Middle Rope Dropkick for a big near fall. Hogan made the save but Thekla took her out as Grable hit a second Middle Rope Dropkick on Steelz for the pin. History was made in Mexico City as Grable and Thekla became the new Empress Ring Tag Team Champions.
05) Pirata Morgan & Rey Bucanero defeated Flamita & Felino Blanco
* The popular pairing of Flamita & Felino Blanco had a tough draw facing Pirata Morgan & Rey Bucanero, members of Los Piratas. The veteran Morgan and his nephew Bucanero were not looking to play around here. Morgan took out Flamita with a power bomb early on that really shook up the young, masked man. As Morgan took out Blanco, Bucanero went to work on Flamita and scored the pin with La Magistral giving Los Piratas an impressive victory.
06) El Generico & Nightmare Warriors defeated Hernandez & Texas Hangmen (with Salina de la Renta)
Primera Caída (1st Fall): El Generico pinned Hernandez – Brainbustaaahhh!!! Segunda Caída (2nd Fall): Hernandez pinned Hallowicked – Sitout Power Bomb Tercera Caída (3rd Fall): Hallowicked pinned Psycho – Yakuza Kick
* It was trios action as El Generico and the Nightmare Warriors, Hallowicked & Frightmare, faced Hernandez and the Texas Hangmen, Killer & Psycho, of Promociones Dorado. Salina de la Renta was at ringside for her men and involved herself several times hoping to avoid a loss for Promociones Dorado. This was an intense bout featuring high energy attacks from both sides. Generico put his team up one to zero when, after a failed first attempt, he hit Brainbustaaahhh!!! on Hernandez for the pin. Hernandez would gain revenge for Promociones Dorado in the second fall when he scored the pin on Hallowicked with a Sitout Power Bomb.
The deciding fall was explosive as both teams looked to earn the victory. It could have gone either way but Hallowicked brought it home when he pinned Psycho after hitting the Yakuza Kick. Salina was not pleased with the loss by her team and ordered them to attack. It wound up with a spectacular moment as Hernandez delivered an over-the-top rope Border Toss on Frightmare sending him crashing into Hallowicked and Generico.
07) Mil Mascaras, Konnan & Sammy Guevara defeated Ricochet, Super Crazy & Daga
Primera Caída (1st Fall): Konnan pinned Daga - DDT Segunda Caída (2nd Fall): Daga pinned Konnan – El Maverick Tercera Caída (3rd Fall): Mil Mascaras over Super Crazy by submission – Octopus Hold
* A big trios match featured Mil Mascaras, Konnan & Sammy Guevara facing Ricochet, Super Crazy & Daga. Grudges were abound on both sides with Mascaras and Konnan at odds with Ricochet and Crazy while Guevara once teamed up with Daga on the rudos side. This was a real war that went to all three falls. Konnan and Daga traded falls before a thrilling third fall. It could have gone either way but in the end, it was Mascaras taking it home. After a battle that saw Crazy hit the Triple Jump Moonsault for a near fall, Mascaras won out in a counter exchange and trapped the “Insane Luchadore” in the Octopus Hold for a submission victory.
08) LOW Junior Heavyweight Title: Juventud Guerrera defeated Tiger Mask to win the title
* Tiger Mask, the 56th LOW Junior Heavyweight champion and a record nine-time holder of the gold, defended against a determined Juventud Guerrera. The match got off to an explosive start with Guerrera setting the pace. He had Tiger Mask in trouble until the champion went to work with his lightning fast kick attacks. The match spilled to the outside where they went to roughhousing but avoided a disqualification. Guerrera was now in trouble but he twice survived the Tiger Suplex, kicking out both times just before the three count. Tiger Mask got frustrated late and Guerrera rebounded before delivering a top rope 450 Splash for a snake eyes pin.
History was made at Arena Mexico as Juventud Guerrera was crowned the new LOW Junior Heavyweight champion in front of his home crowd. Lucha MAX owner Karlee Perez joined in the celebration handing Guerrera the title belt. Tiger Mask intervened and in a show of class he strapped the belt around Guerrera’s waist before shaking hands with the new champion. Guerrera soaked in the cheers of the crowd in the biggest moment thus far of his LOW career.
09) Mil Muertes (with Salina de la Renta) defeated Bandido
Primera Caída (1st Fall): Mil Muertes pinned Bandido – Backstabber (ch) Segunda Caída (2nd Fall): Mil Muertes pinned Bandido – Top Rope Flatliner
* A highly anticipated grudge match saw Bandido take on Mil Muertes of Promociones Dorado. Salina de la Renta was in the corner for Muertes and after the earlier trios match loss for Promociones Dorado she was seeking victory. Bandido proved to be a great foe for Muertes, taking the fight to the big man. He had him in trouble several times but eventually Muertes took a one to zero lead by scoring the pin with a Backstabber (ch). The action heated up in the second fall, one which saw Bandido almost counted out after taking a running power bomb over the ring barrier. De la Renta was pleased at the pure destruction Muertes was delivering, even surviving a 21 Plex, before catching Bandido with a Top Rope Flatliner for the pin. It was an impressive win for Muertes but Bandido will be looking forward to evening the score.
10) Steel Cage Match: Los Ingobernables (with Scarlett Bordeaux) defeated The Kingdom
* The main event was a trios match inside of a Steel Cage as The Kingdom of Matt Taven, “Horror King’ Vinny Marseglia & TK O’Ryan faced their rivals Los Ingobernables consisting of Rush, Killer Kross & Homicide. Scarlett Bordeaux, the newly anointed manager of Los Ingobernables, joined them at ringside but didn’t factor into the outcome. This was a total war with the match decided by the first team to score a pinfall or submission. Rush, the leader of Los Ingobernables, took a beating from The Kingdom and was busted open by the end. The Kingdom came close to winning it but during a chaotic final stretch of the match it was Kross catching O’Ryan with a Half Nelson Exploder Suplex for the pin. This was a statement win for Los Ingobernables over their rivals and one that could steer them towards a shot at the LOW Trios titles currently held by Lucha MAX’s own Vampiro, Kevin Thorn & Darby Allin.

01) Mil Mascaras 02) Mil Muertes 03) Ricochet 04) Sammy Guevara 05) Konnan 06) Rey Bucanero 07) Bandido 08) Rush 09) Matt Taven 10) Daga

As we all know, Lucha MAX is one of my favorite brands beneath the LOW umbrella... And even though my Vampire brothers were absent (off defending those trios belts, no doubt) during this card, there was still no shortage of memorable action... Here's my Top 3 Countdown!
3/ The Minis make some noise with Little Beaver setting the bar with a victory over Demus... Really excited for the future of this entertaining division.
2/ Melina (my favorite woman in Legends) teams up with Shotzi and Killer Kelly (one of my favorite women in the indies) for a big winning effort to open the show... Dangerous divas indeed!
1/ JUVI! JUVI! JUVI! Back in the day, this guy was one of the main reasons that I watched WCW... And I think he could inject a new kind of brilliance into the junior heavyweight title scene... Electrifying!

Lots of fun lucha action. I really wished we could have had more wrestlers to compete against Little Beaver and Sky Low Low but always nice to see one in action. Like the grouping of Melina, Shotzi and Kelly. Looked like a fun main event and them against The Dark Trio would be a fun match.

I was a little shocked when he won but thrilled at the same time. He was definitely a standout in WCW. Dangerous Divas is a nice name for that threesome, and I'm with you on Killer Kelly. I'm hoping she will make an impact in future bouts. We don't have a lot of minis (only four by my count!) but I felt the lucha fed would be the perfect place to showcase them. Yes, your Vampire Brothers were busy elsewhere as the trios champs so that was why I didn't book them on this show.

Pariah likes that grouping as well so maybe you guys are on to something. Thanks for the comments, Troy.

Card #1412 - GM Palace - Vancouver, B.C. Canada - Pacific Coast Wrestling
* Managers Jonny Fairplay and Rock Riddle, representing Hollywood Inc., took to the ring at the start of the show. They promised a history making year for the faction which includes The Grappler and the Love Brothers. Fairplay took over and announced that their beloved benefactor, the legendary actor, comedian and Hollywood star Andy Kaufman has taken leave as he has just signed a huge multi-million dollar movie and television contract. He said that as sad as it is that Andy has gone back to Hollywood, he has given Hollywood Inc. an open checkbook meaning that they can sign anyone they want. Riddle produced a wad of cash which he waved around as Fairplay said that the newest signing to Hollywood Inc. was on his way to the ring…
01) Adam Pearce (with Jonny Fairplay) defeated George South
* Jonny Fairplay remained at ringside as “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce, the newly signed member of Hollywood Inc., made his way out to face George South of ASW. A former LOW Tex-Arkana Television champion, Pearce was impressive in his PCW debut holding South to limited offense. He finished South off with a Last Ride Lariat for a snake eyes pin.
02) Jazz defeated Edith Surreal
* The technically sound Edith Surreal took on former two-time Empress Ring Champion Jazz. Joey Marella was the official in charge of what turned into a hard fought bout. Surreal really impressed by taking the fight to Jazz on the floor, something which few are able to do against the New Orleans native. Jazz survived Venus De Milo and picked up a few near falls on Surreal late. It was another battle on the outside, this time with Jazz taking control, that ended it. Jazz took advantage of a weakened Surreal and trapped her in the STF scoring a submission victory.
03) Brutus Beefcake (with Jimmy Hart) defeated Brickhouse Brown
* Two men making their debuts in PCW squared off as the popular Brickhouse Brown took on Brutus Beefcake, the newest addition to the First Family run by manager Jimmy Hart. This was a real battle of attrition with veteran referee Dick Woehrle as the official in charge. Brown gave Beefcake and Hart some anxious moments, coming within a hair of scoring a pin at one point. Beefcake turned the tide late and after a flurry of moves he executed a Scoop Up Body Slam and press to score the pin.
04) Love Brothers (with Rock Riddle) defeated Midnight Heat (with Guy Tweakacetti)
* The crowd was split as two hated tag teams squared off. The Midnight Heat, “Rockin” Ricky Gibson & “Precious” Eddie Pearl with manager “The Party Captain” Guy Tweakacetti, took on the Love Brothers, “Rotten” Reginald Love & “Horrible” Hartford Love, of Hollywood Inc. represented by manager Rock Riddle. Referee James Beard had his hands full with this bunch in what was a wild bout. The crowd seemed to back Midnight Heat in the home stretch, hoping for them to upset the Love Brothers. It was not to be, however, as Reginald caught Pearl with the Atomic Drop to score the pin.
05) LOW Tex-Arkana Television Title: Manny Fernandez defeated Magnum T.A. to win the title
* It was a huge opportunity for the “Raging Bull” Manny Fernandez as he faced the 43rd LOW Tex-Arkana Television champion Magnum T.A. for the title. LOW senior referee Morgan Dollar was on the call for the all-important championship match coming just days after Magnum came up short in his bid to win the LOW World Heavyweight title from “Macho Man” Randy Savage on the 100th episode of LOW All-Star Wrestling. Interestingly enough, Savage was in the building for his own title defense against Adrian Adonis in a No DQ match later on the card.
Much like the Midnight Heat-Love Brothers match, the crowd was split in their support of both men. This was a great bout in that both men laid it all on the line in an attempt to possess the championship. The peak moment came late when Magnum hit the Belly to Belly Suplex but somehow Fernandez kicked out just before the three count. Magnum poured it on after that but a defensive counter by Fernandez led to a Gut Wrench Suplex into a float over resulting in a stunning snake eyes pin. “The Bull” had captured his first championship in LOW as Dollar raised his arm in victory crowning him the 44th holder of the LOW Tex-Arkana Television title.
06) Rob Van Dam vs. Don Leo Jonathan was a DDQ
* Next up was a unique matchup as the high-flying Rob Van Dam faced the “Mormon Giant” Don Leo Jonathan, known for both his great size and agility. Dick Woehrle was the referee in charge and the early action was great with both men trading offense. Jonathan scored a near fall after an atomic drop but that was as close as either man came to winning it. They wound up battling outside the ring where Woehrle, unable to gain control, called for the bell. The match was declared a double disqualification.
07) Jeff Cobb defeated Mark Henry
* One of the most highly anticipated bouts of the night pitted “Mr. Athletic” Jeff Cobb against the “World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry. This battle of powerhouses saw referee James Beard in charge and featured some intense, physical action. The undefeated Henry was looking for a statement win against Cobb who had a solid run in the recent running of the PWI Invitational Cup Tournament. Henry shocked all when he kicked out of the Tour of the Islands, coming back with some high powered offense of his own.
The finish saw Cobb catch Henry with a pumphandle fallaway slam resulting in a snake eyes pin. Henry was not pleased claiming his shoulder was up and he pounced on Cobb afterward. A sea of officials and security had to pull Henry off of Cobb who was left lying. LOW Commissioner Teddy Long later announced that a rematch between the two men will take place on the next edition of LOW All-Star Wrestling (Card #1420).
08) Fred Blassie, Pampero Firpo, Nikolai Volkoff & Iron Sheik defeated Pepper Gomez, Dutch Savage & The Fantastics
* A star-packed atomicos match was up next as Pepper Gomez, Dutch Savage, & The Fantastics, Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers, faced the “King of Men” Fred Blassie, “Wild Bull of the Pampas” Pampero Firpo, Nikolai Volkoff & Iron Sheik. It was chaos from the opening bell with both teams going all out to achieve victory. The teamwork of The Fantastics nearly got the job done as they set up Gomez executing the Mexican Cradle on the Sheik for a near fall. Savage and Firpo had some tense exchanges against each other as did Gomez and Blassie. It was the latter two who figured into the finish when Blassie recovered first on a double clothesline out of the corner. With the others battling it out, Blassie caught a stunned Gomez with the Southern Neckbreaker for a snake eyes pin. A post-match skirmish broke out which had to be broken up by officials and security for the second consecutive match.
09) LOW World Heavyweight Title - No DQ Match: Randy Savage© defeated Adrian Adonis (with Jimmy Hart) to retain the title
* A rare No DQ Match for the LOW World Heavyweight title took place as the 48th champion “Macho Man” Randy Savage faced the “Golden Boy” Adrian Adonis. Adonis, with manager Jimmy Hart in his corner, looked bound and determined to take the belt following a recent disqualification win over Savage. Referee Joey Marella had the assignment for this one with LOW senior referee Morgan Dollar deferring to the young official. Savage was relentless early as he had Adonis in trouble, including hitting the Flying Elbow Smash prompting a distraction by Hart. He also hit the flying axe-handle to the floor and now Adonis was a bloody mess.
Adonis somehow mustered up a counter-attack despite the blood loss as a frantic Hart shouted instructions through his megaphone. Adonis scored a huge near fall with a bulldog headlock and then used Goodnight Irene several times. Savage somehow survived that but now found himself busted open as well. He hit another Flying Elbow Smash but again Hart interfered. This time it backfired, however, as Hart accidentally hit Adonis with the megaphone. Craziness ensued and Hart got involved again but again it backfired. This time he tossed a chain in but Savage caught it and struck Adonis with the Foreign Object to score the pin. It was a successful version seven title defense for Savage in a double-juice battle against the former LOW International Heavyweight champion.
10) Steel Cage Match: The Quebecers defeated Playboy Buddy Rose & Doug Somers (with Jimmy Hart)
* This was it, the final showdown between The Quebecers, Jacques Rougeau & Pierre Carl Oullett, and Playboy Buddy Rose & “Pretty Boy” Doug Somers and it took place inside of a Steel Cage. Manager Jimmy Hart of the First Family was at ringside for Rose and Somers but the presence of referee Dick Woehrle and the cage itself prevented him from getting involved. The fact that the match took place in Canada was a huge advantage for The Quebecers, having both home field and the full support of the crowd. It was a fitting farewell for The Quebecers in PCW.
This was a war from bell-to-bell and by the end of it Somers was busted open and bleeding badly. Rose and Somers held their own, though, and to their credit twice survived the Tower of Quebec from The Quebecers. They had The Quebecers in some trouble early including Somers scoring a two count on Oullett after a backbreaker (ch). The Quebecers began firing back with some great double-team attacks, including the Boston Crab leg drop combo, and that helped lead them to victory. The third time proved to be the charm as another Tower of Quebec was delivered on the bloody Somers with Jacques scoring the pin.
Hart was in despair at ringside as he assisted Rose in pulling Somers out of the cage. Rougeau, meanwhile, grabbed the mic and thanked the fans of Vancouver for supporting them. He also thanked all of PCW and said that their decision to leave is tough but they are looking forward to a new journey with Grand Prix Wrestling in Canada. The crowd cheered that and Jacques finished it up with a final jab at Hart, “Hey Jimmy, I guess this wasn’t the greatest day of your life!”
PCW Top 10 Singles Rankings:
01) Adrian Adonis 02) Dutch Savage 03) Fred Blassie 04) Jeff Cobb 05) Pepper Gomez 06) Don Leo Jonathan 07) Mark Henry 08) Pampero Firpo 09) Rob Van Dam 10) The Spoiler

This was a top notch card from start to finish, my friend... So, as you might imagine, the Top 3 Countdown was a little difficult to narrow down... Regardless, here we go!
3/ Jeff Cobb displays his athletic prowess, breaking the undefeated streak of Mark Henry... Of course, the WSM delivered some payback after the bell... But, the fans get a rematch out of the deal... Bonus!
2/ Macho Man retains the title by fending off Adonis in a blood drenched contest that was definitely main event worthy... Which brings us to...
1/ My Quebecers blow off their long standing feud with Jimmy Hart and his associates in truly glorious fashion before they head to Grand Prix Wrestling... Vive le Quebec!
