February 3, 2019 – Card #18 – Renfew Community Arena, Renfew, Ontario

Shawn Daivari outlasted Blue Meanie. Meanie is very popular with the fans who are out of their seats for an early Meanie dance. Meanie maintains the advantage largely due to his size but struggles to get something going offensively other than slams and punches. Daivari comes back and works the arm and earns heat with a choke. Daivari rebounds Meanie into an impressive dropkick and then lands knees to the body for a two count. The go to the floor and Meanie shoves Dr. Mike Lano into his opponent. DDT connects in the ring and they go back to the floor. Meanie eats the ringside table. Daivari grinds away with a chinlock and then hits back to back standing dropkicks and a deathjump dropkick. The go back outside and this time Daivari goes into the table face first. Back in the ring, Meanie comes off the top with a forearm to the head. He goes back up but Daivari kicks his legs out sending him crashing to the mat. Daivari with knee drives to the body followed by WMD for a big near fall. The fans spur Meanie to a comeback including back to back neckbreakers and a DDT. Both men are missing moves. Meanie connect with back to back reverse atomic drops and then hits back to back neckbreakers for a two count. Meanie comes off the top with a crossbody block deathjump but Daivari kicks out at the last second. Outside, Daivari turns things around and sends Meanie into the post busting him open. Daivari squeezes out the blood with a chinlock. Meanie is back with another neckbreaker. Daivari rebounds Meanie into a dropkick and connects with a deathjump elbow smash. Daivari dominates working the arm and a grinding chinlock. Knee drives weaken Meanie. Meanie looks like he may come back but Daivari takes him to mat with a blatant choke that enrages the fans. Daivari mounts the corner for a deathjump cross body block for the pin.

Larry Hennig picked up a controversial win over Wild Bill White. White shows he is game and battles Hennig blow for blow even getting the advantage at times. White counters a backdrop with a piledriver before following up with a stomp to the head and shoulder breaker for a near fall. White goes for the eyes by Hennig blocks and nails a double forearm hammer that knocks sufficient wind out his opponent to score the pin. White complains that his shoulder was up at the count of three but the referee will not hear it despite similar thoughts by many at ringside.

Masked Superstar made short work of Sam Houston. Morgan Dollar will be making the three count and has strict instructions for both men. The early grinding pace favours Superstar as he works Houston on the mat. Forearm smashes lead to a sleeper and Houston is finished quickly.
Johnny Valentine destroyed “Cowboy” Scott Casey. Casey makes a tactical mistake by engaging in brawling punches and Valentine just smiles and goes to work. Casey gets overwhelmed and tossed to the floor. He regains the ring and Valentine is ready with a sleeper and then transitions to a atomic skullcrusher for the win (Snake Eyes!).

Diamond Dallas Page over Lenny Lane by disqualification. Page attempts to work the upper body but Lane uses his agility to get out of early trouble and take control. Moonsault connects and gets a near fall. Lane comes off the top with a deathjump smash. Page powers out of a grinding chinlock and connects with a discuss clothesline that nearly ends it. Page takes over and works the neck with a neckbreaker and another discuss clothesline. After a brief brawl on the floor the action returns to the ring. Lane regains control with his speed and hits three wheelbarrow facebusters stunning the fans. Lane steps up the attack with kicks and a running bulldog. Another wheelbarrow facebuster forces Page outside. Lane rolls to the floor grabs a chair and smashes it across Page’s back. The referee calls for the disqualification. Lane tosses Page into the ring and plants him with a memory lane before leaving the ring to great heat.

Nikolai Volkoff bested Terry Gordy by disqualification. Volkoff sings and the fans are all over him. Gordy is slightly quicker the Volkoff and gets the upper hand with a back suplex that shakes the ring. Gordy then plants Volkoff with a piledriver for a two and half count. A Bamm Bamm Slam follows but Vokolff just gets his shoulder up. Gordy comes off the top with a forearm to the skull and then traps Volkoff in an STF. Gordy goes back to the top but Volkoff knocks the ropes sending Gordy to the mat in a heap. Volkoff then shows off by going to the top himself but Gordy is able to recover and slam him to the mat. Gordy takes over with double knee drops and dominates the next few minutes including five lariats. Volkoff finally crumbles to the mat and Gordy wraps him up in an STF. Volkoff gets tossed into the corner but blocks a charge with double knees. Gordy recovers quickly and nails double knees after double knees after double knees after double knees after double knees. Volkoff misses a running lariat attempt and Gordy makes him pay with a back suplex. Gordy controls but misses a deathjump bomb. They are both missing moves. Volkoff misses wildly with a running lariat but his running stomp a few moves later connects. Volkoff with double thrust and a pair of throat drops on the ropes. Volkoff covers for two. Gordy is in trouble but manages to reverse a whip to the corner but Volkoff blocks the charge with double knees. Big boot to the face misses and Gordy connects with a lariat that spills Volkoff outside. Gordy comes outside as well and Volkoff posts Gordy busting him open. Backbreaker drop for a two and half count. The go to the floor again and this time Gordy grabs Volkoff and slams him through the ringside table. The referee calls for the bell and he have back to back disqualification finishes.

Marty Jannetty beat Petey Williams. Morgan Dollar calls the action. Jannetty and Williams trade moves at a quick pace. Jannetty dives onto Williams at ringside and the fans are on their feet. Both men are back inside and Williams stumbles into a cross body block from Jannetty but rolls through for a near fall. Williams controls including rolling suplexes that rock the fans. Back to back Canadian Leg Sweeps force Jannetty to take a breather. Williams comes out for a brawl at ringside. Jannetty slams Williams into what is left of the ringside table. Rocker dropper connects for a near fall. Jannetty with a suplex and drockick. Jannetty back to the top for another cross body block. 1, 2, Williams kicks out. Rocker Dropper hits but does not get the win and Jannetty tosses Williams outside. Williams tosses a chunk of the table at Jannetty and we go back to the ring. Williams with a Sharpshooter and a rope straddle dropkick. Williams with a deathjump smash. Another deathjump smash and Jannetty is in trouble. Canadian Destroyer and the fans jump out of their seat as Jannetty kicked out of the cover. Another deathjump smash. To the floor and Jannetty backdrops Williams to the concrete. Deathjump smash and superkick. Jannetty with a DDT and superkick. Cover for the three count.

Ivan Koloff pinned Blackjack Mulligan. Mulligan gains the advantage after Morgan Dollar calls for the bell grinding the upper body with an arm bar. Kolkoff gets the action outside and Mulligan eats the new ringside table. Falling face slam forces Mulligan to the floor and when he regains the ring Koloff controls with a double stomp and another falling face slam. Back outside for a crazy brawl into the fans and back. Back into the ring and Kolkoff connects with a Russian Sickle that stuns Mulligan just long enough for the three count. (Snake Eyes!).

The Valiant Brothers & Lou Albano beat Armstrongs & Brutus Beefcake. “The Bullet” dominates against Lou Albano early and when Brutus Beefcake tags in, Albano wants no part of him. Johnny Valiant attempts to get something going but is frustrated by Beefcake who connects with a flying knee smash. Brad Armstrong battles Jimmy Valiant and Valiant is able to drag Armstrong outside and whip him hard into the ring steps. “Luscious” Johnny tosses Armstrong back to the floor but Armstrong reverses a whip and sends Valiant into the ring steps. Beefcake then brawls with Valiant on the floor. Jimmy Valant is in and drops Beefcake with a foreign object busting him open. Beefcake ducks a running lariat and tags in Bob Armstrong. Valiant tags in Johnny Valiant who stops Armstrong with an arm poke. The Armstrongs tag and Brad Armstrong nails a perfect dropkick for a two count. Two handed bulldog gets another near fall. Bob Armstrong takes the match back to the floor and cracks Johnny Valiant across the back with a chair. Inside, Jimmy Valiant gets the tag and takes over against “The Bullet’ with stomps and a series of atomic drops. More brawling at ringside goes the way of Armstrong. Brad Armstrong tags in with a Russian Leg Sweep on Jimmy Valiant for a big near fall. Two handed bulldog connects for 2 ¾. Beefcake tags back in and mounts the corner but Valiant superplexes him to the mat. Now Albano wants at Beefcake but Beefcake catches him on the buckles and slams him to the mat. Flying knee smash connects but Albano reverses a whip into the corner and lands a kick before tagging out. Johnny Valiant is all over Beefcake leading to a Double Clothesline from the Valiant Brothers for a two count. Jimmy Valiant connects with a deathjump smash and then the action goes back to the floor. Beefcake is nearly counted out after Valiant chokes him out with a cord. Albano tags in to great heat with a Sicilian Slam but Beefcake kicks out of the cover. Albano attacks with chokes and a front face lock. The Valiant Brothers execute a double buckle whip on Beefcake and then connect with a SUPER ELBOW for the three count.

Commonwealth Champion Buddy Rogers dominated Jerry Lynn. Morgan Dollar is in charge of the main event and there is a good pace to the early action. Rogers seems thrown off by Lynn’s style and tactics but catches him with dropkicks and then plants him a piledriver to slow things down. Lynn takes a breather and crawls back into the ring but Rogers is ready and traps Lynn in a Figure Four Grapevine to retain the title in quick fashion.

News and Views: Nikolai Volkoff and Terry Gordy went to war tonight and the fans cannot wait until the next time the two collide . . . Impressive victory for Masked Superstar has he builds momentum heading into his showdown with Canadian Heavyweight Champion Lou Thesz . . . Larry Hennig was successful in his singles debut but the three count raised some eyebrows from the fans seated closest to the action . . Things are clearly not resolved between the sides after tonight’s six man battle between the Armstrongs and Brutus Beefcake against Lou Albano and The Valiant Brothers. . . Everyone who found their seats early were treated to a surprisingly intense opener . . . Johnny Valentine has arrived in Maple Leaf Wrestling and based on his performance tonight, he may soon be in title contention . . . In addition to be a member of a contending tag team, Ivan Koloff is making his way up the singles rankings as well with a very impressive win over Blackjack Mulligan tonight . . .

Up next, we head just west of Toronto for a night of action from the Georgetown Arena featuring the Canadian Title being defendant plus more intense action including the following bouts:
• Diamond Dallas Page was left laying in the middle of the ring after his match against Lenny Lane tonight and will be looking for payback when he battles Lane in a rematch next week.
• In an interesting contest with some family history, Brutus Beefcake meets Johnny Valentine one on one in the ring
• Pepperland Rockers will be back in tag team action after spending some time in singles competition as they step into the ring against another team that has not been in action for some time, Sam Houston & “Cowboy” Scott Casey
• In a preview of the upcoming Canadian Open Tag Team Title Match, current champions Original Midnight Express will battle their challengers Ivan Koloff & Nikolai Volkoff in a pair of singles matches
• The Armstrongs will be back at it again against Jimmy & Johnny Valiant as both teams are looking to prove they are the next contenders for the Canadian Open Tag Team Titles
• Blackjack Mulligan and Terry Gordy are knotted at one victory each in their previous encounters and both men are promised to lay it all on the line as they clash for a third time will pride and contender position on the line
• Jerry Lynn suffered a crushing defeat tonight and will need to regroup quickly as he will be meeting the Minnesota powerhouse Larry Hennig in singles action
• In the main event, Canadian Heavyweight Champion Lou Thesz will defend his title against Masked Superstar

February 10, 2019 – Card #19 – Georgetown Arena, Georgetown, Ontario

The Taylors defeated Lou Albano & Wild Bill White. Tugboat Taylor pushes around White with is size advantage. Albano tags in and spits on Taylor which gets the big man off his game. Chops and chokes give Albano the upper hand. Chaz Taylor tags in with a monkey flip sending Albano across the ring. A missile dropkick connects for a near fall. Albano catches Taylor on the top and tosses him to the mat. White is in with stomps and then a running power slam for a two count. A second running power slam should have finished the match but Tugboat Taylor makes the save with a big elbow smash to White. Chaztizer connects for a two count. Tugboat Taylor tags in with a back suplex but White blocks a charge to the corner with double knees. Albano trades moves with Taylor but the big man gets the upper hand including a cobra clutch suplex. Both sides make tags. Chaz Taylor picks up the pace and catches White with a dropkick. Cartwheel and superkick connects. White blocks a charge with double knees in the corner. Albano slows it down with a pair of abdominal stretches. Eye rake sets up a perfect cobra clutch suplex and Taylor bails. With Dr. Mike Lano snapping shots, Taylor punches into control. Tugboat with a cartwheel and clothesline and a cobra clutch suplex. Taylor controls in and out of the ring. Chaz Taylor is in with Air Chaz and running corner splash. Taylor keeps a quick pace and Albano is reeling until he can counter a turnbuckle headlock takeover. While tags in and works the arm but Taylor counters a dropkick with a knee to the head. Tugboat tags in and slams White onto the floor. Back inside, Tugboat hits an anchor drop for the win.

Johnny Valentine destroyed Brutus Beefcake. Valentine is not messing around and quickly counter attacks leading to a big chop to the chest and atomic skullcrusher for a near fall. Another atomic skullcrusher nearly ends it. The fans get behind Beefcake but his running elbow in the corner misses leading to Valentine unloading another chop to the chest for a two and half count. Beefcake then falls to a third atomic skullcrusher and this one is over quickly.

Diamond Dallas Page bested Lenny Lane by count-out. Page has the fans behind him as he enters ringside through the crowd. Morgan Dollar calls for the bell. Page is all over Lane and a discuss clothesline sends him to the floor. Lane grabs Dr. Mike Lano and shoves him into Page. Back inside, Lane gets a two count after a gut wrench power bomb. Back to back wheelbarrow facebusters force Page to the floor where the two brawl into the fans and back again. Lane moves to a grinding facelock and then connects with two more wheelbarrow facebusters. Lane applies a Boston Crab and Page just makes the ropes to stay alive. Lane goes back to the Boston Crab again but Page powers out and then catches Lane with a tackle to turn the momentum. Russian leg sweep and Lane bails. Outside, Page hit a Diamond Dream on the floor. Lane is out cold and is counted out of the ring.

Randy Rose w/Dennis Condrey & Jim Cornette stunned Nikolai Volkoff w/Ivan Koloff. Rose attempts a monkey flip but Volkoff is too strong. However, Rose is too quick to get caught in a headlock and punch and then catches Volkoff with a stiff clothesline that drops the Russian. The referee counts to three while Condrey holds down Volkoff’s legs to ensure the victory.

The Valiant Brothers crushed the Armstrongs. Brad Armstrong uses his speed to counter against Johnny Valiant early on but gets into trouble when Valiant gets the knees up to blocks a charge into the corner. Jimmy Valiant tags in and the Valiant Brothers double up with a double buckle whip that snaps Armstrong’s neck back. Jimmy Valiant quickly covers Armstrong for the three count (snake eyes!) using the ropes for leverage. The fans are outraged. The Valiant Brothers are not finished and continue their attack after the bell. Super Elbow crushes Brad Armstrong before Bob Armstrong can recover enough to clear the ring with punches and chops.

Larry Hennig overpowered Jerry Lynn. A couple of Minnesota boys locked up next and Lynn uses his speed to get the early advantage including countering a clothesline with one of his own after rebounding into the ropes sending both men to the mat. Lynn continues to control and whips Hennig into the corner but Hennig rebounds out with a clothesline that crushes Lynn. Hennig then drops an elbow onto Lynn and when Lynn regains his feet, Hennig takes him down with The Axe for the three count.

Pepperland Rockers over “Cowboy” Scott Casey & Sam Houston. Morgan Dollar calls for the bell after both sides exchange handshakes. Houston uses his speed to get the advantage on Blue Meanie getting the action to the mat with an arm drag and twist. Casey keeps the pressure on Meanie including a backbreaker and power slam. Jannetty tags in against Houston but cannot get anything going. Meanie is back in and finally gets some momentum against Houston leading to a crowd pleasing People’s Leg Drop. Houston is looking for the tag but Jannetty is all over him with dropkicks and hip tosses. Houston bails and Jannetty follows to the floor where both men get tangled up in Dr. Mike Lano. Houston gets the advantage and tags out. Casey with a series of backbreakers and then goes to work on the arm. Jannetty counters and tags in Meanie who scores with a body slam and deathjump smash. Another body slam gets a two count. Another body slam is followed by a deathjump smash and short arm clotheslines. Meanie goes back to the top and connects with a deathjump crossbody block but Casey kicks out at the last second. Top rope fist drop connects and Casey is in big trouble. Jannetty comes off the top with his own cross body block deathjump and this time gets the three count.

Ivan Koloff w/Nikolai Volkoff destroyed Dennis Condrey w/Jim Cornette & Randy Rose. Condrey opens with a quick jab but Koloff easily shakes it off and soon nails a rope straddle followed by a Russian Hammer that knocks Condrey to the mat. Condrey regains his feet just in time to eat a Russian Sickle for the three count while Volkoff stairs down both Cornette and Rose on the floor preventing them from making the save.

Blackjack Mulligan downed Terry Gordy by disqualification. The battle of the big man has a quick pace early on but Gordy stops Mulligan cold with a piledriver to counter a backdrop. Gordy follows with a power bomb that shakes the arena and scores two. Gordy then slows it down with a grinding STF before unleashing back to back to back to back suplexes that bring the fans out of their seats. Mulligan kicks out of he cover. They brawl on the floor and Gordy maintain the advantage. Elbow hammer and snap mare back in the ring. Gordy launches Mulligan into the buckles but Mulligan ducks out of the corner sending Gordy crashing into the buckles. Mulligan covers for one. Mulligan connects with forearm off the top and pair of back elbow rams. Gordy gets rebounded into a big boot and we go back to the floor. Outside, Mulligan eats the ring post and is busted open. Gordy comes off the top with an elbow to the top of the head. Mulligan bails. Gordy follows and powerbombs Mulligan through a ringside table! The fans are electric. Dollar calls for the bell and disqualifies Gordy. Mulligan is a broken bloody mess in a heap of table. Gordy is not finished. Tosses Mulligan back in and plants him in the middle of the ring with a piledriver. Mulligan needs medical attention.

Canadian Heavyweight Champion Lou Thesz pinned Masked Superstar. Superstar connects with an early punch to the ribs that catches the champion off guard but Thesz proves he has some tricks as well when he catches Superstar in a small package for a near fall seconds later. Superstar gets tossed to the floor but regains the ring quickly. Thesz Press gets a two count. Thesz tosses Superstar back to the floor again and the when the action returns to the ring, he ties up his challenger with a stepover toehold facelock that forces Superstar to grab the ropes. Thesz moves to a double wristlock before whipping Superstar into the corner. Superstar rebounds out with a wicked clothesline and then applies his Cobra Hold. Thesz escapes but Superstar goes back to his finisher immediately. Again Thesz escapes. Superstar applies a third Cobra Hold forces Thesz to go for the ropes. Superstar comes off the tope with a clubbing forearm but his kick to the knee misses. Thesz with a dropkick that spills Superstar to the floor where he trips over Dr. Mike Lano. The fans are all over Superstar who stumbles back into the ring and into a Thesz Press giving Thesz the victory.

News and Views: The table has been set for what should be an interesting battle for the Canadian Open Tag Team Titles next week with the champions Original Midnight Express and their challenges Ivan Koloff & Nikolai Volkoff spitting their singles encounters tonight . . . Brad Armstrong was treated by medical staff after the post match beat down from the Valiant Brothers tonight. He appears to have suffered extensive sternum bruising (1 card injury) but is not expected to miss any time from the ring . . . Johnny Valentine looked impressive once again tonight . . . Father and son team Tugboat Taylor and Chaz Taylor picked up a win in their debut . . . Diamond Dallas Page was able to gain a measure of payback against Lenny Lane in Georgetown but the issues between the two are not resolved so we can look forward to more action between these two down the road . . . Blackjack Mulligan was assessed and cleared by medical staff after the violent conclusion to his match with Terry Gordy. Gordy sustained only minor strains to the neck (one card injury) and should consider himself fortunate . . .

Up next, the competitors of Maple Leaf Wrestling head north for a show from the township of Minden Hills featuring a wild tag team main event.
• In a battle of light heavyweights, Sam Houston will be back in singles action to take on Shawn Daivari
• The bad blood between Brutus Beefcake & Lou Albano continues to simmer and next week they will clash in a special match under lumberjack rules. Each man will be accompanied by four other wrestlers who ensure that the action stays in the ring
• Pepperland Rockers will be back in action as they look to regain their contenders form when the face the newest team in the territory Chaz & Tugboat Taylor in what should be a fun fast paced encounter certain to entertain
• Johnny Valentine looks to continue his impressive record when he meats the equally tough Larry Hennig in singles competition
• Masked Superstar battled hard tonight but came up short in his quest to capture championship gold. He will be back in action next week against the popular Petey Williams
• The Armstrongs will be looking for some payback after the post match attack on Brad Armstrong tonight as they join forces with Diamond Dallas Page to battle the Valiant Brothers and Lenny Lane in six- man action
• In a special attraction, Malia Hosaka will take on Madison Rayne
• In an all heel main event, Canadian Open Tag Team Champions Original Midnight Express will defend their titles against Ivan Koloff and Nikolai Volkoff

February 17, 2019 – Card #20 – Community Centre, Minden Hills, Ontario

Blackjack Mulligan (Inj 1) crushed Wild Bill White. White is able to keep away from his larger foe and avoids a charge into the corner leading to a near fall with a roll up. Mulligan regains his feet but White catches him with a Russian Leg Sweep and then follows up with stomps but Mulligan has had enough, crushes White with a lariat and hooks the leg for the three count. Mulligan then gets on the mic and challenges Terry Gordy to a match next week in Ottawa.

Petey Williams stunned Masked Superstar. Morgan Dollar has strict instructions for both men before the bell. Superstar overpowers early but Williams breaks out with his speed connecting with a spinwheel kick and then goes to work including O Canada! and a pair of Canadian Leg Sweeps that score a two count. Williams moves to a sharpshooter which forces Superstar to the ropes but Williams drags his opponent back to the middle of the ring for another Sharpshooter and gets the shocking submission victory.

Brutus Beefcake pinned Lou Albano in a Lumberjack Match. Albano comes to the ring with the Valiant Brothers and current Canadian Tag Team Champions Original Midnight Express as his lumberjacks while Beefcake come out with Bob & Brad Armstrong. Beefcake then introduces his final two lumberjacks… Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express. It is mayhem on the floor as the lumberjack brawl but int her ring Beefcake dominates punches and elbows. A clothesline connects and knocks the winds out of Albano and allows Beefcake to get the quick victory.

Pepperland Rockers defeated The Taylors. Handshakes all around before the bell. Chaz Taylor controls against Marty Jannetty including a running corner splash and enzuigiri. Tugboat looks huge in the ring against Jannetty. Blue Meanie is a little closer in size and gets the advantage planting Taylor with a DDT and connecting with a splash from the top of the buckles. Meanie comes off the top with two more splashes and then Jannetty is back in with running knee lift. Chaz Taylor gets a much needed tag and goes move for move with Jannetty. Taylor counters a suplex and takes the action to the mat with a turnbuckle headlock takeover. Missile dropkick catches Jannetty flush. Tugboat is in and scores with an arm wringer and backdrop twice. Meanie tags in but Taylor is too powerful downing Meanie with a tackle and then an arm wringer and backdrop. Shoulder breaker and forearms land. Powerslam shakes the ring and gets a two count. Backbreaker crushes Meanie and Taylor later plants Meanie with a cobra clutch suplex. Air Chaz connect and is followed by a Chaztizer. Jannetty makes the pin save. Enzuigiri connects and Meanie falls to the floor. Taylor is out after him and Meanie smashes Taylor in the head with Dr. Mike Lano’s camera! The fans are not happy with Meanie. Back inside, DDT sets up a Meaniesault. Jannnetty blocks the save but Taylor kicks out. Meanie with a short arm clothesline and then he whips a bloody Taylor into the corner. Both men collide and fall to the mat. People’s Leg Drop gets heat! Taylor manages to get a tag to his father. Taylor with forearm smashes. He mounts the corner and flies but Meanie rolls clear. Taylor crashes to the mat and Meanie covers him for the win. Jannetty has questions for his partner’s actions and Meanie responds with a DDT the leaves Jannetty stunned in the middle of the ring.

Lenny Lane & Valiant Brothers downed Diamond Dallas Page & The Armstrongs. Morgan Dollar has been assigned to keep order in this six-man war. “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant gets the best of Bob Armstrong early on. He breaks out a foreign object and busts Armstrong open. Johnny Valiant keeps the pressure on with running stomps. The Valiant crush a bloodied Armstrong with a double clothesline but Brad Armstrong and Diamond Dallas Page jump in for the save. Page comes off the top onto Johnny Valiant’s head. Lane is in for an exchange with Page that has the fans rocking. Page gets sent into the ropes and on the rebound counters a backdrop with an inside cradle for a two count. They go to the floor and Page eats the ringside table. Back in side, gut wrench power bomb to page. A second one shakes the ring. Jimmy Valiant is in and Page goes into the ropes, ducks under and rebounds with a tackle. Brad Armstrong (inj 1) is in but Valiant counters a charge to the corner with knees. “Luscious” Johnny Valiant tags in but is sent into the corner by Armstrong who follows up with charge but Valiant counters with a clothesline. Double clothesline from the Valiant Brothers. The pin save is blocked but Armstrong kicks out. The Valiant Brother follow up with a super elbow and get the win.

Terry Gordy dominated Ron Hutchison. The fans are behind Hutchison who works the arm but Gordy’s size gets him out of trouble. A back suplex plants Hutchison and a Bamm Bamm Slam gets a two count. A power bomb follows and Gordy has barely broken a sweat as the referee makes the three count. After the match, Gordy grabs the mic and responds to Blackjack Mulligan’s challenge saying that they do not have to wait until next week if Mulligan will get his butt out here right now. Mulligan charges the ring and two men brawl around ringside until officials arrive for a pull apart.

Sam Houston over Shawn Daivari. Morgan Dollar calls for the bell and Houston is able to use his height and reach to maintain the advantage early on. Lot of working the upper body and arm. Houston with a standing toehold and then connects with his finisher, the bulldog, but can only get a two count. Second bulldog lands but Daivari kicks out at the last second. Houston hits it a third time but Daivari drapes his foot onto the ropes to just stay alive. Houston is frustration and goes back to a standing toe hold and midsection kicks. Daivari finally counters successfully and manages to whip Houston into the corner. Daivari charges and they crack heads. Houston is up first and as Daivari regains his feet, Houston is ready with another bulldog and this time gets the win.

Madison Rayne bested Malia Hosaka. Hosaka works the arm early but Rayne counters a backdrop with a piledriver. Diving spear connects and a deathjump cross body block gets a two count. Rayne Drop and Northern Lights Suplex force Hosaka to the floor. Back in the ring, Rayne Check ends it.

Johnny Valentine downed Larry Hennig by disqualification. Even the lock up is intense and a struggle between these two tough competitors. Valentine gets in a knee lift and a forearm hammer for a one count. The go to the floor for a wild exchange of blows. Hennig shoves Dr. Mike Lano into Valentine to get the upper hand. Hennig lands a clubbing blow from the top and then connects with The Axe for a near fall. Elbow drop connects and Valentine takes a breather on the floor. Hennig comes out after him and cracks Valentine across the back with a chair for the disqualification. Valentine manages to recover and comes after Hennig for a post match brawl until officials arrive to pull the two men apart.

Canadian Open Tag Team Champions Original Midnight Express w/Jim Cornette retained against Ivan Koloff and Nikolai Voloff. Morgan Dollar will make the decisions in the ring and we are underway with Dennis Condrey batting Volkoff. Express combine for an assisted abdominal stretch and then Condrey lands an elbow from the top and backbreaker for a one count. Rose keeps the pressure on with an impressive suplex and then a splash from the top. Clothesline catches Volkoff and the Express execute a double goozle for a near fall while Koloff’s pin attempt is blocked. Express crush Volkoff with a rocket launcher. Koloff jumps in and attacks both Condrey and Rose laying them out. Volkoff tags out officially and is a machine beating the life out of Rose in and out of the ring. Rose is finally able to avoid a rope straddle and gets the much needed tag. Condrey is soon overpowered as well and Koloff connects with a leg drop for a near fall. An attack on the floor leaves Condrey a bloody mess and leads to a double stomp for Koloff. Rose is able to get into the action after Condrey blocks a double thrust but Rose misses a splash from the top. Condrey is back in but it is too soon. Double thrust connects and sets up a Russian Sickle but Rose makes the pin save. Another Russian Sickle connects but again Rose makes the save. Double stomp is on target but a rope straddle misses. Rose with a jumping knee drop and Koloff bails. Rose smashes Koloff with a chair and he is now busted open. Dollar is looking for a clear winner in this one. Rose Bomb is on target for two. Express hit the Human Cough Drop and get the win.

News and Views: The intensity between Terry Gordy & Blackjack Mulligan continues to grow each time they are across the ring from each other . . . It appears we have seen the last of the Pepperland Rockers . . . The Rock ‘N’ Roll Express make their debut tonight as lumberjacks for Brutus Beefcake but the team’s real focus was on current Canadian Open Tag Team Champions Original Midnight Express . . . The Valiant Brothers really looked impressive tonight and appear to be heading to the top of the tag team rankings . . . Huge win for Petey Williams tonight over the former number one contender Masked Superstar . . . There appears to be some friction brewing between Johnny Valentine & Larry Hennig . . .

Up next, Maple Leaf Wrestling returns to Canada’s Capital City of Ottawa for a stacked card at the Civic Centre.
• In a battle of light heavyweights, Sam Houston will be action against Lenny Lane
• Tonight may has seen the last of the Pepperland Rockers team but that does not mean we have seen the last of Blue Meanie & Marty Jannetty as the former partners will now do battle in singles action
• Heavyweight Tugboat Taylor takes a break from teaming with his son to challenge the always dangerous Masked Superstar
• The match between Johnny Valentine & Larry Hennig left the fans wanting more and the promotors have signed an immediate rematch between the two as both men look to move up the rankings
• Blackjack Mulligan might be still shaking the splinters out of his trunks from the last time he battled Terry Gordy but that does not mean he is not looking forward to their next fight. If tonight’s pull apart was any indication, the action will be intense when Mulligan and Gordy battle one on one in the Nation’s Capital.
• How about some high impact tag team action featuring four of the top teams in the territory? How about the in ring debut of the Rock’n’Roll Express at the same time? The Express will join forces with Bob & Brad Armstrong to take on the side of The Valiant Brothers & Canadian Open Tag Team Champions Original Midnight Express in eight man action
• Buddy Rogers will put his Commonwealth Title on the line against Diamond Dallas Page. Page will be bringing the power of positivity mixed with a little BANG as well but will it be enough to unseat the champion in his second opportunity at the title?
• Do you like violence and the potential for blood, then we have the match for you . . . inside a Steel Cage! There were will be lumberjacks at ringside and no interference at all when Brutus Beefcake battles Lou Albano in the conclusion to their feud in a steel cage match

I thoroughly enjoyed the last two shows, especially the Midnight Express beating the mighty Russian pairing of Ivan Koloff & Nikolai Volkoff to retain the belts. With the Rock n' Roll Express coming in, the Midnight's retaining sets up a potential epic tag team title series in MLW. I'm looking forward to that big eight-man tag in Ottawa. Also I'm loving the Blackjack Mulligan vs. Terry Gordy rivalry not to mention what could be a brewing rivalry between Larry Hennig and Johnny Valentine, The Axe vs. The Elbow!

February 24, 2019 – Card #21 – Civic Centre, Ottawa, Ontario

Masked Superstar bested Tugboat Taylor. Taylor control and arm wringer and back drop times two is impressive. Power slam downs Destroyer and a brawl on the floor follows. Forearms land and they go to the floor again. Superstar eats the table. Anchor Drop connects and Morgan Dollar counts to two. Taylor attempts a Cobra Clutch Suplex but it is blocked. Sleeper from Superstar leads to a Swinging Neckbreaker for a two count. Superstar connects with his finisher and gets the three count.

Lenny Lane defeated Sam Houston by count-out. Great pace to start this one. Houston controls early but Lane comes back with back to back running bulldogs. Lane takes the fight to the floor. Lane comes off the top with an elbow. Houston back with an arm drag and twist. Lane is tied up with a standing toehold and then a bulldog connects for a three count. Houston goes to the top and leaps but Lane ducks away. Lane covers for two. Lane controls with a grinding chinlock and wheelbarrow facebuster. Houston bails and Lane hits a chair shot across the back and Houston cannot recover before the ten count.

Marty Jannetty beat Blue Meanie. Jannetty whips Meanie into the corner but Meanie catches Jannetty with a clothesline. Meanie goes to the top but Jannetty tosses him to the mat. Superkick connect to the chin and atomic drop follows. Jannetty with a DDT and gets the three count.

Blackjack Mulligan pinned Terry Gordy. Gordy gets into the face of Morgan Dollar before the bell. Mulligan gets the upper hand and catches Gordy with a lariat the scores a one count. Mulligan then moves to a Blackjack Claw immediately and Gordy’s shoulder drops to the mat. Dollar makes what appears to be a quick three count to give Mulligan the controversial victory.

Commonwealth Champion Buddy Rogers retained via count-out against Diamond Dallas Page. Rogers gains the upper hand after Morgan Dollar calls for the bell. The fight goes to the floor and Rogers earns great heat with a chop block. Page is hobbling but makes the ropes to escape a Figure Four Grapevine. Rogers with an atomic drop knee to knee for a two count. Page hammers back with punches and a discus clothesline. Page hits the Diamond Cutter for a big pop and a two count. Page is a second Diamond Cutter for a two and three quarters match. Page bails and Rogers follows but Rogers gets the best of the brawl. Rogers with a roll up with ropes for leverage for a two and half count and more heat. Page works the neck. Russian Leg Sweep for a two count. Page with another Diamond Cutter for a huge near fall. Page and Rogers go back and forth. They brawl in and out of the ring. Page whips Rogers to the corner and charges in but Rogers backdrops Page to the floor. Page twists his knee on impact and is down in a heap. Page cannot regain his feet and is counted out of the ring.

The Destroyer downed Ron Hutchison. The Destroyer was making his return to Maple Leaf Wrestling after a lucrative tour of Japan. It was all Destroyer early including some grinding action on the mat while Destroyer bad mouthed not only his opponent but the fans as well. Destroyer kept on Hutchinson including vicious forearm and a grinding leg scissors. Destroyer crushed Hutchison in the corner with a clothesline and followed with a Bombs Away. Destroyer punished with more forearms but Hutchison scored with a Kiwi Roll that shocked Destroyer followed by an Olympic Roll Up. While neither hold put Destroyer down long enough for even a one count it did get the fans back into the action. Destroyer countered a snap make attempt into a backbreaker for a two count and followed with a Bombs Away and a knee drop from the second rope. A bow and arrow forced Hutchison to the floor. The fans encouraged Hutchison who crawls back under the ropes but Destroyer this another Bombs Away. Backbreaker from Destroyer followed by an airplane spin to get the three count.

Petey Williams survived Ivan Koloff by disqualification. They crack heads in the corner early on and both men end up on the mat. Koloff recovers first and tosses Williams to the floor. Koloff goes to work with double thrusts and a leg drop. A clothesline in the corner knocks the wind from Williams and Koloff follows with a Russian Sickle but can only get a two count. The fans are chanting for Williams. Koloff is clearly frustrated and takes the fight to the floor where he chokes out Williams with his chain earning great heat and a disqualification in the process.

Johnny Valentine defeated Larry Hennig. Hennig and Valentine waste no time trading blows after Morgan Dollar calls for the bell. The go to the floor after an elbow drop from Hennig for a wild brawl. The go back outside again after another elbow drop from Hennig. Body slam from Hennig is followed up with a double forearm hammer for a two count. Back to the floor and Hennig eats the ringside table. Shoulder block from Hennig sends Valentine to the mat. Chops and slams follow. Valentine with a backdrop and then works the arm. Hennig gets to his feet and sends Valentine into the corner but Valentine gets the knees up to block the charge. Valentine keeps going back to the arm and Hennig keeps powering back with slams and forearms. Headlock leads to a back elbow and body slam for Hennig getting a two count. Tombstone piledriver is countered and Valentine sends Hennig hard into the corner and follows in. The crack skulls and both me fall to the mat. Valentine recovers first. Atomic Skullcrusher for a two count. Kick to the is followed by a knee from the second rope. Valentine moves to a sleeper and Hennig makes the ropes. Atomic Skullcrusher gets a 2 ¾ count. Another Atomic Skullcrusher lands but Hennig gets the shoulder up at the last second. Again Valentine lands his finisher but Hennig gets his foot on the ropes before Dollar can hit the mat three times. Valentine goes back to the arm and Hennig finds his comeback strength with a series of chops, slams and forearms. Valentine counters a running lariat and lands his own series of chops. The battle goes to the floor and back inside. Valentine goes back to the sleeper and then gets his own chops in. Hennig counters a reverse toe hold and fires away with chops and a body slam for a one count. Shoulder block and elbow drop land. Valentine bails and Hennig follows for a brawl on the floor that goes to Valentine. Valentine goes to the top but Hennig slams him to the mat. Hennig comes off the top with a forearm to the top of the head. The Axe connects but Valentine gets his shoulder up. The fans are exploding. Hennig goes back to the top. Cross body deathjump flattens Valentine for another two and three quarters count. Hennig with a shoulder block. Valentine is sent into the corner hard but ducks a charges and spills Hennig to the floor in a heap. Valentine comes out to dish out more punishment on the floor. Sleeper slows the pace. Hennig is sent crashing to the mat with a backdrop. Valentine moves from the arm to a reverse toehold. Valentine goes to the top and lands the point of his elbow onto the top of Hennig skull. He lands a second blow from the top. Hennig is staggering. Valentine catches him a sleeper but Hennig just makes the ropes (Box Cars!). Hennig is sent into the ropes and both men go for a clothesline and crash to the mat. The fans are out of their seats. They are up at the same time but Valentine has the positional advantage and locks in another sleeper. This time, Hennig has no counter and Valentine gets the win.

Canadian Open Tag Team Champions Original Midnight Express & Valiant Brothers over Bob Armstrong, Brad Armstrong & Rock ‘n’ Roll Express. Morgan Dollar gets back to back assignments for the second time tonight. Bob Armstrong counters the attack of Randy Rose and lights him up with a series of chops. The two brawl on the floor and back into the ring. Brad Armstrong is in with a Russian Leg Sweep for a near fall on Rose. Robert Gibson comes of the top with a double sledge before Ricky Morton does the same. “Bullet” Bob Armstrong is in and takes the fight back outside. A slam to the concrete leads to a near count out. Gibson misses a moonsault and Rose is able to get out of the action. Dennis Condrey is in with a tombstone piledriver to Gibson for a two count. The Express combine for a Rocket Launcher but Morton makes the save for his partner. Johnny Valiant slams Gibson’s face into the mat and roughs him up on the floor. Swinging Neckbreaker gets a near fall on Gibson. Jimmy Valiant tags in and blasts Gibson with a foreign object to the throat. The fans are livid. The Valiant then team up for a double buckle whip and Valiant covers Gibson for the three count.

Brutus Beefcake destroyed Lou Albano in a Steel Cage Match. This one nearly ended early when Beefcake caught Albano with a suplex for a near fall. It is all Beefcake as the fan cheer each blow and pop for two big wind-up punches. Albano staggers into a sleeper and that is it.  No hair cut after the bell, but the fans go home happy in any event.

News and Views: What an epic encounter between Larry Hennig & Johnny Valentine as Valentine digs deep and remains undefeated . . . Diamond Dallas Page comes up short tonight in his second opportunity at the Commonwealth Championship thanks in part to some questionable tactics by Champion Buddy Rogers. Page suffered a mild knee strain in the contest and is not expected to miss any time from ring. There are many who feel Page really tested Rogers tonight and should be in line for a rematch in the near future . . . Big win tonight for Brutus Beefcake in the main event . . . The Destroyer makes his return to the territory in dominating fashion . . . Marty Jannetty gets some redemption tonight against his former partner Blue Meanie picking a clean victory . . . Canadian Open Tag Team Champions Original Midnight Express just keep finding ways to win. Their next challenge will come from the team of “Handsome” Jimmy Valiant and “Luscious” Johnny Valiant . . . Fans were really disappointed with the Terry Gordy Blackjack Mulligan match tonight both for fast it was over and for what appeared to be fast count from Morgan Dollar. No doubt Gordy will be wanting another opportunity at the big Texan down the road . . . Ivan Koloff might be the most hated competitor in the territory right now . . .

Up next, the action returns to the City of Hamilton for a show at the North Wentworth Community Arena featuring the Canadian Heavyweight Title being put on the line.
• Johnny Valentine & Larry Hennig tore down the house tonight and the fans in Hamilton are hoping for the same intensity with the two clash for the third time in singles action.
• Jimmy and Johnny Valiant have Marty Jannetty will be back in action when he faces Masked Superstar in battle of contrasting styles
• After the controversial finish to their match tonight, Sam Houston has challenged Lenny Lane to face him once again and that match will take place next week
• The father and son team of Tugboat and Chaz Taylor will have a lot on the line when they battle the current top contenders for the Canadian Open Tag Team Championship, the Valiant Brothers. A victory over the top contenders would certainly move them closer to their own title opportunity.
• Diamond Dallas Page was not pleased with the way things turned out tonight in his match against Commonwealth Champion Buddy Rogers. However, he will get an opportunity to make things right in Hamilton when he faces Buddy Rogers in a special non-title attraction. There will be no count-outs however because the match will be contested under Lumberjack rules!
• Petey Williams has managed to show brilliance at times and score some key victories and he will be looking for more of the same when he battles The Destroyer one on one
• The battle between Blackjack Mulligan and Terry Gordy will continue in Hamilton as the two big men will clash in singles action that should deliver both in violence and intensity
• In the main event, Canadian Heavyweight Champion Lou Thesz will defend against the Russian Bear Ivan Koloff
