This weekend will be the tournament to crown the first ever NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion. Here are the first round matchups:

NWA Wrestling: 1/4/2019
live from Philadelphia, PA
Before the show there is a press conference with NWA World Heavyweight Champion Lou Thesz and Dan Severn. Thesz once again states that he's going to be a fighting champion and it's an honor to take on such a decorated fighting champion like Dan Severn. Severn states that he's been the man for a long time in the MMA world and now it's time to step up and take over in the wrestling world. He says that at Clash of the Champions that he's going to show Lou Thesz why he is the toughest man in the world today.
Magnum TA d. Bill White w/ the Belly To Belly Suplex
The Fantastics d. Texas Hangmen w/ the Rocket Launcher
Road Warriors and Paul Ellering are with Bob Caudle backstage. Ellering warns Bruiser Brody and Stan Hansen that they are messing with forces that they can't possibly hope to defeat inside of a steel cage. He calls the Road Warriors forces of destruction who don't know the bounds of mere mortals. Hawk speaks up and says that gallons of blood are going to be spilled inside of the steel cage. This is going to be a massacre that wrestling fans have never seen before. He tells wrestling fans to leave their children at home because this match isn't going to be for the weak of heart or stomach. Animal says that they are going to capture the NWA World Tag Team Titles.
Randy Savage d. The Grappler w/ a neckbreaker clothesline
Randy Savage stops in with Bob Caudle after his victory. Randy Savage says that it's great to be wrestling in the NWA again. He's going to be watching that World Title match with Dan Severn and Lou Thesz. He mentions that Lou Thesz beat him in the semi-finals of the World Title tournament and he wants a rematch with the belt on the line. Savage promises that he will be the NWA World Heavyweight Champion very soon.
Barry Windham d. Gorgeous George by DQ
Midnight Express d. 2 Cold Scorpio and Marcus Alexander Bagwell w/ the Alabama Jam
The Fantastics come down to the ring. Tommy Rogers gets on the mic and challenges the Midnight Express to a match at Clash of the Champions. Jim Cornette accepts the challenge.
Main Event:
Johnny Valentine d. John Pesek w/ the Atomic Skullcrusher
Harley Race attacks after the match. He blindsides Valentine and hits the Piledriver before he can react. Race acts like he's about to leave but rethinks it and hits a second Piledriver before leaving.

Buddy Rogers was spotted in the crowd and interviewed by Bob Caudle. He calls the loss to Ilio Dipaolo a fluke. He says that he's going to prove that it was a fluke at Clash of the Champions. He plans to move on to bigger and better things like earning a title shot. He doesn't want to get bogged down with mid-range talent like Dipaolo.
Final:
Jushin Liger d. Tiger Mask w/ the Fisherman's Buster to become the 1st NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion
Adrian Street sucker punches Jushin Liger as he's leaving to the back. He applies the London Leglock until security manages to pull him off.

Wow...two dqs in the semifinals...Hodge especially get dqed. Congrats to Liger.

Yeah, I was bummed out by both of those endings. Both matches were really good. Street had Tiger Mask on the ropes before getting DQed.
