Robert Hunter, Grateful Dead's poetic lyricist, dead at 78 Robert Hunter, the man behind the poetic and mystical words for many of the Grateful Dead's finest songs, has died at age 78. Hunter died Monday at his Northern California home with his wife, Maureen, at his side, former Grateful Dead publicist Dennis McNally told The Associated Press on Tuesday. The family did not release a cause of death.

Jimmy Nelson, last of TV’s golden era ventriloquists, whose characters Farfel and Danny O’Day were the face of Nestlés Quik, has died The man behind Nestlés Quick’s image in the 1950s and 1960s and who made the company’s jingle popular has died. Ventriloquist Jimmy Nelson died Sept. 24 at the age of 90 in Florida from complications following a stroke, Nelson was the last of the golden era of ventriloquists that included Edgar Bergen, Shari Lewis, Paul Winchell and Senor Wences. His career spanned more than 70 years, but he is most famous to TV viewers in the 1950s and 1960s for appearing with his characters Danny O’Day and a floppy-eared dog named Farfel for commercials and promotions for Nestlés Quick. According to an obituary provided by his family, Nelson made more than 120 commercials for Nestlé. The commercials ended with Danny O’Day singing, “N-E-S-T-L-E-S, Nestlés makes the very best,” followed by Farfel’s low growl of “Chocolate.”

Ex-MMA fighter Katy Collins dead at 32 after brain aneurysm Former mixed martial arts fighter Katy Collins has died at the age of 32 after suffering a brain aneurysm, her coach said on Wednesday. The mother of two sons fought for several MMA promotions, including Bellator and Invicta, over her three-year career, which ended in June 2018. Nicknamed “The Red Dragon,” Collins racked up dozens of fights on the amateur circuit before amassing a 7-5 record in professional cage fighting.

Robert Garrison, Tommy from Karate Kid Has Died at Age 59 Robert Garrison, best known for his role of Tommy in the early installments of “The Karate Kid,” died on Friday after a battle with kidney and liver problems, Fox News can confirm. A rep for Garrison called the actor "an ambassador to The Karate Kid legacy" in a statement to Fox News on Friday.

Superstore and Twin Peaks Actor Linda Porter Dies at 86 Industry veteran Linda Porter — an actor over 70 credits to her name — has passed away. She was 86. Porter is likely best known to fans for appearing on NBC's Superstore as Myrtle Vartanian, a recurring guest star. In total, she appeared in 35 episodes as the Cloud 9 employee. According to a report from Deadline, she had not filmed any scenes for the fifth season of the acclaimed show, which debuted its fifth season Thursday night. Prior to the NBC sitcom, Porter also recurred on David Lynch's recent Twin Peaks revival. Other television credits include 2 Broke Girls, Childrens Hospital, Bunheads, The Mindy Project, and The Middle. On the silver screen, Porter appeared in Dude Where's My Car?, Pee-Wee's Big Holiday, and Twins amongst others.

'BELLY' ACTOR LOUIE RANKIN DIES IN CAR CRASH Grammy-award winning artist Louie Rankin -- famous for his role as Ox in the movie "Belly" -- died in a car crash in Canada ... TMZ has confirmed. Details are scarce, but Louie died Monday in a fatal wreck in Ontario, Canada ... the crash reportedly involved a transport truck and another vehicle. Louie starred alongside Nas and DMX in the 1998 crime drama "Belly" ... and his character, Ox, was a Jamaican kingpin. Nas and Louie became close friends during filming, and the pair reunited years later for a cameo in a DJ Khaled music video for his song, "Nas Album Done." His other acting credits include 2002's "Shottas" and 2014's "We Run These Streets." Born and raised in Jamaica, Louie was also a Jamaican dancehall and reggae artist ... and he released a huge single in 1992 called "Typewriter," which won a Grammy. Louie often referred to himself in his lyrics as the "Original Don Dada."

'MUFFS' SINGER KIM SHATTUCK DEAD AT 56 Kim Shattuck -- the lead singer and bassist for The Muffs -- is dead after a two-year battle with ALS. Kim's death comes just two weeks before The Muffs were set to release their first album in five years, "No Holiday." Kim and Melanie Vammen were band members in The Pandoras back in the 1980s, and in 1991 the women decided to form their own punk band and called it The Muffs. Shattuck's most famous song ... a Muffs cover of Kim Wilde's "Kids in America" ... was famously featured on the soundtrack for the 1995 hit movie, "Clueless."
