In tribute to his 'Memphis Star' father, young second generation upstart Eddie Gilbert is seen working under the name of Tommy Gilbert Jr. His partner and 'guide' is veteran British star Tony Charles. They take on The Blond Bombers comprised of Larry Latham (later known as Moondog Spot) and Wayne Ferris (the future Honky Tonk Man). A nice 'before they were stars' viewing. Note the bare bones production values with a purplish background in the studio setting...a sign of the times.

"Young Tommy 'really' goes after it...boy he's in great shape...and he is eager, eager, eager....that coupled with inexperience can sometimes get you in a little bit of trouble..."

Buddy Landel broke into the business in his native Tennessee and throughout his career he would always find his greatest success in the Southern territories. In this viewing BL is seen close to his prime with about about ten years of experience behind him. The character of 'Freddie' was played by masked second gen youngster Doug Gilbert (the son of Tommy & brother of Eddie). The gimmick was based on the lead villain from the Nightmare On Elm Street films...but Freddie's run was as a baby face. An interesting viewing.
