First round matches took place on shows in Canada, the U.S., Mexico, and Puerto Rico. The quarterfinals, semifinals and final will be held at WWC Summer Madness.

It was a great tournament and the final was an all-time classic. Nick Bockwinkel withstood the incredible assault of the Sheik to win the North American title. Bockwinkel had 8 coins and the Sheik has 7 coins.
