I have very sad news to report. The game's original producer, Bob Hoffa, passed away on December 31 due to complications after heart surgery.
As long-time game fans know, Bob was instrumental in helping produce Champions of the Galaxy from the very beginning right up to the present. He was a great friend and loyal member of our game community, attending GalactiCon many times and being a big supporter of game fans. His passing is very sad news to me and my family.
I'll have more to say later, but for now please send your condolences to his wife, Linda Hoffa, at:
3977 Clague Road N. Olmsted, OH 44070

Here is Bob's obituary notice: www.legacy.com/Cleveland/DeathNotices.asp?Page=Lifestory&PersonId=122136157Bob's wife Linda just reminded me how fond Bob was of his work for Champions of the Galaxy. She would like the card art for his Machine Gun Hoffa card sent to her as an email attachment. She wants to include this image among his remembrances at the funeral on Monday. If anyone has a copy of this card art and can send as an attachment please send to: rbhoff@aol.com Thanks for your help.

A COTG legend if there ever was one.
I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Mr. Hoffa and he was a nice man and true professional.
My condolences to the Hoffa family.

Indeed he was. I met him a couple of times when I went out for G-Con as well. My condolences to his family.

This is very sad news indeed. My deepest condolences to his wife and family. Bob was one of the truly unique individuals in the COTG universe. He was a jack of all trades for COTG, did the printing for my Tex Remington and El Pantera Negro bootlegs, and printed some of our nGo work. He was a great guy, and someone I always looked forward to seeing.
Bob was a key part of the "nGo invasion" at G-Con. We had produced game cards along with a slip of paper noting the final card had been delayed and would be sent to anyone who purchased the set. Then Bob "turned" on Tom, joined the nGo, and said "My name is Mr. Hoffa, and here's my card." Of course, his "card" was really the last game card in the set, which we then handed out to everyone. One of my favorite G-Con memories.
I'm not sure where the original nGo artwork is for the "Mr. Hoffa" gangster card. Bob kept most of the artwork for our sets, and I don't remember ever getting it back. Honestly, I don't recall if he did the printing on that set. I'm sure someone could scan the card and e-mail it to Linda.

Hanging out with Bob and enjoying whiskey & shrimp is a great G-Con memory. Of course, so is the "turn" that Tim described. One of my favorite parts of the convention was listening to Bob's stories, a very cool guy.
I'm pretty sure I have the original Mr. Hoffa artwork. I'll go through my files and email it to his wife.

If anyone can send a scan of the Bob Hoffa card art to Linda she'll be thrilled. Thanks. And I love hearing the Bob stories. I've written more about Bob at my column: www.filsingergames.com/cotg/tomsblog.php

A very sad day for the COTG community. I had to chance to meet Bob at a few Galacticons and work with him in printing a few sets over the past couple years. He was always happy to help and a true professional.
I have a copy of the Machine Gun Hoffa card and will be emailing a scan to Linda.
