Ring of Honor issued the following press release regarding Television champion Shane Taylor, whose title matchup at the upcoming Death Before Dishonor pay per view is currently pending to occur. The statement addresses a potential contract buyout of Taylor’s contract, with ongoing negotiations being made so his defense against Tracy Williams and Flip Gordon can take place. Check it out below.
Ring of Honor Wrestling and Shane Taylor have agreed to terms on a buyout of his contract, effective immediately.
ROH is currently in negotiations with Taylor for him to make his advertised defense of the ROH World Television Title at the Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view on Sept. 27 in Las Vegas against Flip Gordon and Tracy Williams in a Triple Threat Match.

This is either a really terrible look for the company because a champion wanted out of his contract or this is a really stupid work. ROH in 2019, man.

This really looks like a work. I don't care for these fake real angles. Even just saying that sounds stupid...

Do they know what buyout of his contract means? It means they buy him out and he leaves not makes another title defense.

Do they know what buyout of his contract means? It means they buy him out and he leaves not makes another title defense. A buyout would mean that they don't want him in the company anymore. Is there some real or storyline reason this might be the case? I haven't heard a thing. Alternatively, if HE or a competing wrestling company are buying out his contract, it means he wants to go somewhere else. Regardless, the story is written pretty terribly.

Dumb.
Why is Taylor TV champ anyway? ROH needs a fresh perspective with a new creative direction.

I'm ambivalent as to Shane Taylor's place in the company but there is no doubt that they are long overdue for a new booking team. Delirious has been booker for ten years now. NO ONE is consistently creative for that length of time. From what I understand Joey Matthews and maybe others have had input as of late but the result is the same. The need for creative turnover should be blatantly obvious to anyone who has been following ROH for any length of time. I just don't understand how Sinclair hasn't figured this out yet.

Well, Bully Ray and Joey Matthews are apparently the guys calling most of the shots now and Delirious is in an advisory role.

It means they buy him out and he leaves not makes another title defense. yeah, it turns out this is apparently a storyline as Taylor not only made his next title defense but retained last night too here in Las Vegas. One of the wrestlers accompanying Taylor to the ring as part of Shane Taylor Promotions was Chris Bey.

Shane Taylor cut a promo on TV recently where he mentioned that ROH was always promoting other wrestling company's shows, and maybe he should start his own company. I didn't think much about it at the time, but I guess they were planting the seeds for Shane Taylor Promotions. He cut another promo on TV about Tracy Williams. He said something about Tracy's buddies all leaving him to go elsewhere. Then he said to Tracy, "I guess you didn't EVOLVE fast enough. Did you CATCH that POINT?"
