Shirley Douglas Dies: Actress, Activist And Mother Of Kiefer Sutherland Was 86 Shirley Douglas, who is best known for her work as an actress as much as she is known for her activism and advocacy, died on Sunday after complications with pneumonia. She was 86. Douglas’s son, actor Kiefer Sutherland, took to Twitter to announce the unfortunate news. “Early this morning my mother, Shirley Douglas, passed away due to complications surrounding pneumonia (not related to COVID-19), Her acting career kicked off in 1950 at the Regina Little Theatre. She graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London in 1952 and worked in England before returning to Canada in 1957. She has appeared in films from acclaimed filmmakers such as Stanley Kubrick’s Lolita (1962) and David Cronenberg’s Dead Ringers (1988). Her other features included Shadow Dancing (1988), Mesmer (1994) and The Stone Angel (2007). On the TV side, she appeared in Wind at My Back (1996) and Shadow Lake (1999) a TV film for which she won a Gemini Award. She starred alongside Sutherland in a 1997 production of The Glass Menagerie at the Royal Alexandra Theatre and at the National Arts Centre. She also performed in The Vagina Monolgues in 2000. As an activist, she was part of the American Civil Rights Movement, which campaigned against the Vietnam War. She was an ally to immigrants, advocated for women and established the fundraising group “Friends of the Black Panthers”. She also was an advocate for publicly funded healthcare over privatized care in Canada. She was also named an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2003.

R.I.P. "Science of Soul" music man, Bill Randle the passing of UK soul man, Bill Randle. Known for his Science of Soul radio show, broadcast on stations throughout the Europe and USA, Bill was among the most passionate soul music lovers anywhere. His show had a huge following, as he actively interviewed soul music greats, and always had a strong playlist running. And he was a virtually omnipresent figure at every major soul music event - a tireless supporter of both classic and independent soul music. I don’t think that there is a major soul music artist of the past half century who couldn’t be seen in one of Bill’s thousands of pictures, grinning and hugging Bill, who was always decked out in his trademark Fedora hat.

Honor Blackman, James Bond's Pussy Galore, dies aged 94 Honor Blackman, the actor best known for playing the Bond girl Pussy Galore, has died aged 94. Blackman, who became a household name in the 1960s as Cathy Gale in The Avengers and had a career spanning eight decades, died of natural causes unrelated to coronavirus. Blackman’s family called her an “adored mother and grandmother” who possessed “an extraordinary combination of beauty, brains and physical prowess”. As well as her parts in The Avengers and the Bond film Goldfinger, her family highlighted Blackman’s roles as the vengeful goddess Hera in Jason and the Argonauts and as Laura West in the 1990s sitcom The Upper Hand. She appeared in theatrical productions including The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady and Cabaret. In recent years, she had toured and performed in her show Honor Blackman As Herself, in which her family said she looked back over “her astonishing life, her beginnings, her family, and her rise to stardom with her usual sense of humour and perspective”.

THE SPORTS WORLD GETTING HIT HARD THE LAST FEW DAYS Former Philadelphia Eagles star running back, return specialist Timmy Brown dies at 82 Timmy Brown, a Philadelphia Eagles great who was part of their 1960 championship team and made the team's Hall of Fame, died on Saturday at 82, the team confirmed in a tweet Tuesday. Brown, a running back and return specialist, came out of Ball State University and was drafted in the 27th round by the Green Bay Packers in 1959. He was let go after one game and picked up by the Eagles, making their active roster in 1960. He spent eight seasons with the Eagles before finishing his career with the Colts in 1968. Brown was inducted into the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame in 2015. He holds Eagles records in four categories: Most kickoff return yards, most kickoff returns for touchdowns, most kickoff returns and average yards per touch. For two consecutive seasons, 1962 and '63, he led the league in all-purpose yards. After his football career, Brown moved to California and launched an acting career, where he appeared in several TV shows and movies, including "MASH" and "Nashville.

This is sad but when it first popped up I saw "Brown" and could see it was a football player before I focused. For split second thought it was gonna be Jim.
