Huh!?
I haven't watched it yet but read about it.
So the WWE took the shine off a monster heel, that has buried top guys, to give the belt to a 53 year old that can hardly wrestle anymore? Because he pops big ratings? So time to wheel out Hulk? It seems like Vince is back to Monday night wars loosing time and flailing? But why? Ratings pressure? I hope it's not that the dev league is getting beat on Wednesdays.

Trying to sell Wrestlemania to ESPN Plus. Goldberg has more main stream cache.
Plus they dont want Roman booed when he wins the title at Wrestlemania. If he beats the Fiend he gets booed. If he beats Goldberg fans will be relieved and cheer.

Drew isn’t a WM main eventer (doesn’t mean he can’t be but he’s not one yet - not a true Superstar) and neither is Wyatt. They needed a true main event and Goldberg vs Cena or Reigns gives them that.
With that said, WM is still shaping up to be a marathon with SIX women’s matches rumored to be occur. That’s just the women’s matches...so we’re looking at another 8 hour event here...a 3 minute squash main event w Goldberg winning or losing is probably the best way to close the show anyways, and not some 30 minute “classic”.

because the WWE is in such bad shape that its top guys other than Roman are either 50+ whose top run was in the 90s or spend their few appearances bouncing around before running 5 minutes or less matches.

At some point you gotta blame the wrestlers tho. It’s not Goldberg’s fault nobody else can get over the way he and Brock are over (real stars). Really there’s no excuse when these guys have every opportunity in the world to get over and can’t. Today’s wrestlers have way more resources than yesterday’s stars ever had - endless TV time, social media, internet dirt sheets with stories about them everyday - and still nothing. We were told Cody, Kenny Omega and Moxley were all huge stars and they can barely get 800,000 people to watch them. It’s easy to blame WWE and not the wrestlers themselves. Another theory I have is that WWE will keep Matt Hardy by offering him a broken feud w the Fiend and a match at WM. Just my own thought. |

What really sucks is I want to argue with Swarm but honestly there all valid points. I hate this as much as the next guy but what's gonna get casual people to buy Wrestlemania. Fiend vs Reigns OR Goldberg vs fast and furious Cena?

I was glad to see Miz & Morrson get the tag titles for Smackdown and hope they wrestle The Usos at WM.
