Card 01 – Tru North Pro Wrestling - "Phase One" St. Anthony’s Hall, Ottawa, Ontario
“Limitless” Keith Lee defeated Ricky Starks. Despite a size disadvantage, Starks showed he came to fight and battled his much larger opponent move for move. Starks was able to use his agility to control long stretches of the action working over Lee with moonsaults, implant DDTs and sleeper holds. Lee exploded on offense at various times in the match taking a little something out of Starks each time. Lee eventually hit a SPIRTBOMB for a two count and then followed immediately with a second SPIRTBOMB for the win.
Team FIST (Suge D & Icarus) bested Rockness Monsters: This one went back and forth from the outset. Suge D found himself cut off from his corner for a long stretch but the Monsters were not able to put him away despite landing two EXPLOSIVE AMMESIA finishers. Icarus lead his team back and appeared to have the match won with a BLU-RAY to Johnny Goodtime but a timely save from Johnny Yuma kept the action going. Icarus stayed on Goodtime and landed a second BLU-RAY to get the victory.
“Speedball” Mike Bailey pinned Shane Strickland. Fans expected some fast paced hard hitting action and no one left disappointed. Strickland had a hard time catching up to Bailey who struck quickly and often with kicks and strikes. Strickland managed to kick out after an ULTIMA WEAPON but Bailey just kept coming including a pair of running corkscrew presses and eventually hit another ULTIMA WEAPON to get the three count.
Brent Banks downed Isaias Velazquez. Another encounter that moved a great pace and kept the fans on the edge of their seats. Banks began to get the upper hand leading to SLICED BREAD but could only get a two count. Velazquez just could not get anything going and Banks controlled most of the remaining action finishing off Velazquez with an ASAI DDT.
Rickey Shane Page over “Southern Psychopath” Mance Warner by disqualification. After back to back high flying encounters, the fans were primed for some brawling and these two delivered some extreme action. A pop-up headbutt bloodied Page in the opening minutes and things just became increasing more intense from that point onwards. There was more action on the floor then in the ring at points as both men used whatever they could get their hands on. Warner connected with his LARIAT twice but Page lifted the shoulder at the last second both times. Page landed a ROLLING ELBOW but he also could not get the victory. Both men were a bloody and battered mess when Warner brought ringside to their feet with a DDT off the referee. The following LARIAT resulted in a two and three quarters count before the action went to the floor where Warner showed is frustration and viciously assaulted Page with a chair. The referee had no choice but to call for the disqualification.
Super Smash Brothers downed EYFBO. Both sides were able to make several key tags early keeping the momentum going back and forth. The Smash Brothers took control when they were able to separate Angel Ortiz from his corner. “Get Over Here” and Game Over did some damage. Player Uno picked up a near fall with a GAME GENIE. EYFBO were finally able to get something going after Ortiz countered a Goomba Stomp. They focused their attack on Player Uno but he was eventually able to get the tag out to his partner. The action went back and forth. Mike Draztik connected with MDK on Player Dos for a near fall. There was a crazy exchange when it appeared Ortiz was beat but Draztik was able to land an elbow while the referee was distracted and then placed his own partner on top of Player Uno for a near fall. The finish came when Player Uno connected with back to back Bubble Bobble Busters to Draztik and scored the pin.
Tyson Dux dominated “Mr. Athletic” Jeff Cobb. Dux took control almost immediately and quickly manoeuvred his way into a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK forcing Cobb to the ropes. Dux followed with a NORTHERN LARIAT for a two count and then hit a powerbomb and second NORTHER LARIAT. Cobb barely kicked out and the fans were on fire. Dux continued to control the action in and out of the ring. Cobb managed an Athletic-Plex but before he could build any momentum, Dux avoided a charge in the corner sending Cobb crashing into the corner setting up an easy roll up for Dux for the win.
“The Cleaner” Kenny Omega downed Matt Taven. This was action packed from start to finish with both competitors hitting all their big moves. Taven struck first with a FROG SPLASH early on that picked up a two count only. Omega battled back and connected with a ONE WINGED ANGEL for a near fall and then followed up immediately with CROYT’S WRATH but could not get the win. Taven battled back and picked up a pair of near falls including one after a second FROG SPLASH. Taven then kicked out of a second ONE WINGED ANGEL and the fans lost it. Omega maintains focus, crushed Taven with second CROYT’S WRATH and gets the hard fought victory.
