I have been reading Firestarter (less than 80 pages to go.) It is a good book. I will see the movies (both the one from the 1980s and the remake getting released next month) at some point. If you like Firestarter and haven't read it yet, I suggest you check out The Institute... Exceptional read and some of the implied (or imagined) connections are very cool. cool, I saw Institute in the local grocery store recently. If it is there when I go back tomorrow, I might buy it (otherwise perhaps I can get it at the library down the street.)

I picked up The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon at the grocery store.
I am currently on page 84. It is good but (at least so far) not as good IMO as some of the books on the poll and/or mentioned by you guys in this thread.

Since I didn't mention this previously, I should also add that King's latest - Billy Summers - has definitely cracked my Top 10... Highly recommend this one.

Tonight I saw the new Firestarter movie. I don't think I ever saw a worse Stephen King movie than this new Firestarter. The movie had almost no suspense, the special effects were weak, and there were ALOT of changes from the book and not in a good way. The ending made no sense to me whatsoever. The book was good and I thought the original Firestarter movie with David Keith and Drew Barrymore was just OK but the new mvoie version makes the old movie version look like a masterpiece.
I give the new Firestarter an F.

If you have access to HBO,The Outsider was a really enjoyable adaptation.
It was weird to see the standard King-isms blended in with a higher budget True Detective type miniseries but it landed a lot more solid than Dr Sleep, Castle Rock or the other recent attempts

Stephen King books are my jam! Although I haven't quite read them all, I'd say I have read about 90% of what he has published... Here is my top 10 list... 1. The Dark Tower series - Not even gonna try to separate this entry into the individual books... EPIC! 2. 11/22/63 3. The Stand 4. The Shining 5. Misery 6. The Green Mile 7. IT 8. Under The Dome 9. Pet Sematary 10. Revival Honorable mentions: - The Talisman and Black House (co-written by Peter Straub) - Different Seasons (collection of four novellas, including three that were adapted into movies - Apt Pupil, Stand By Me and The Shawshank Redemption) - Mr Mercedes Pariah, I am currently reading #10 on your list Revival.

I give the new Firestarter an F. Emily and I watched Firestarter last weekend, and I told her "Zeke mentioned this was not a good movie!" After we got done, we agreed you were 100% right! Terrible, terrible, movie.

I still own my first-printing hardcover copy of "It" that my mom bought me in October of '86.
Mom, my older brother, and I used to get Stephen King books and read them and then pass them on to the next person.
She wrote an inscription in it for me since it was a reward for good grades. I'll never part with it.
It's pretty much the only thing I still have from my mom, who passed away in the summer of '04.

An excellent story, my friend... Even though Revival was recently knocked off my Top 10 courtesy of Mr King's latest novel, Billy Summers - Another that I highly recommend... It would make an awesome movie if done properly.

Terrible, terrible, movie. This is sad to hear because I was really looking forward to watching this... I was cautiously optimistic because so many of Mr King's recent adaptations for the screen have been quite entertaining.
