**First Round **
Harley Race and Curt Hennig fought to a DDQ

Tully Blanchard (with JJ Dillon) d. Magnum TA by COR. A wild brawl at ringside saw Dillon hold Magnum's leg while under the ring,preventing him from beating the 10-count.

Larry Zbyszko d. Nick Bockwinkel (with Bobby Heenan) in the match of the evening between these bitter rivals. Bockwinkel was busted open from an early flurry from the Living Legend. Bockwinkel rallied and used the FIGURE-FOUR, SLEEPER and Choke on Ropes to gain some near falls. Again the match spilled to the floor and Zbyszko hauled Bockwinkel into the ring with a backbreaker to gain the 3-count. A standing "O" honored these two combatants.

Ted Dibiase d. Randy Savage by DQ. Sherri Martel escorted Savage to ring as usual but Dibiase paid off her services for the evening. The Macho Man was livid with this transaction as the match ended with Savage slamming a steel chair on Dibiase's back!

Lou Thesz d. Buddy Rogers using the GRECO ROMAN BACKDROP to pin the Nature Boy.

Gorgeous George (w/Cherie) d. The Destroyer after tossing his old rival off the top rope and locking in the SPINNING TOE HOLD.

Vader d. Stan Hansen, DQ. These two brawlers basically cut loose and ended with Hansen shoving the referee aside during one heated exchange. Harley Race accompanied Vader at ringside now that he was eliminated from the tournament.

Abdullah The Butcher (w/ Dr. Lano) d. Bruiser Brody. Match began with a crazy brawl (what did you expect?) and ended with a Torture Rack Slam and SUDANESE MEAT CLEAVER for a disputed 3-count.



** Quarterfinals **
Tully Blanchard drew a bye due to the DDQ between Race and Hennig.

Ted Dibiase (w/ Sherri Martel) d. Larry Zbyszko, DQ. Sherri used her high heels on Larry and grabbed it from her to use on Dibiase. The referee only saw Zbyszko's actions.

Lou Thesz d. Gorgeous George (w/ Cherie). After the match spilled to ringside, Thesz welcomed George into the ring and into a pinfall with a THESZ PRESS.

Abdullah The Butcher (w/ Dr. Lano) d. Vader (w/ Harley Race). A bite to forehead weakened Vader for an extended nerve hold and then a SUDANESE MEAT CLEAVER made for a surprise 3-count over the reigning Ultimate Champion.




** Tournament Final Four: Morgan Dollar is the assigned referee for these matches. **
Tully Blanchard (w/ Dillon) d. Ted Dibiase (w/ Sherri). Referee Dollar warned both to ensure a conclusive outcome. Sherri and Dibiase did not take it seriously as their antics caught up with them: Dibiase was DQ'd for using Sherri's high heel shoe!

Lou Thesz d. Abdullah The Butcher, DQ. Morgan Dollar ejected Dr. Mike Lano stating on the house mike that he has no business here. Butcher hit a karate thrust to the throat and then used a foreign object to further assault Lou's windpipe. Dollar had enough and stopped the match. A brief intermission was called to restore order before the finals.


** Championship Final **
Lou Thesz d. Tully Blanchard. Before Blanchard left the locker room after intermission, cameras caught an exchange between Dillon and Abdullah The Butcher. Dillon handed Abby a satchel, saying "good work Butcher." Presumably a payoff for attempting to injure Thesz in the Semifinals. Morgan Dollar was nearby and caught the exchange but said nothing . . . During ring introductions though, Dollar motioned to the ring announcer and ordered JJ Dillon away from ringside. If Tully wins the tournament he will do it one-on-one! Blanchard was bent out of shape and Thesz was fired up in this short match. Once Thesz gained the advantage, he used the GRECO ROMAN BACKDROP to setup the THESZ PRESS to win the Tournament!



NOTES: Exciting tournament as Abdullah pulled the upset on Vader and Bockwinkel and Zbyzsko added another chapter to their longstanding feud. Lou Thesz did a great job in the tournament beating the odds to win: beating old rivals Buddy Rogers and Gorgeous George and then overcoming the Abdullah the Butcher and Tully Blanchard alliance in the Final Four.

Harley Race v. Curt Hennig
Morgan Dollar is the man in the stripes and has strict instructions for both men. Larry Hennig, father of Curt Hennig and former tag team partner of Harley Race is seated at ringside for the match. Race opens with a swinging neckbreaker and Hennig bails for a quick word with his father. Hennig rolls back in but Race is on him. VERTICAL SUPLEX and Dollar makes a two count (R5/P2). Race continues to work the back with a backbreaker. Cover and Hennig is out at two (R5/P3). Race heads to the top and has a few words for his former partner at ringside. The delay is enough for Hennig to strike and he tosses Race to the mat. Hennig hooks Race . . . HENNIG PLEX. Race is out at one (R12/P4). Hennig decides to keep the action in the ring and connects with a standing dropkick and forearms. Hip tosses and snap mares keeps Race down. Race counters driving a knee into a fallen Hennig and then planting him with a swinging neckbreaker. Race decided against going to the top and lands a falling knee drop instead. Hennig counters a belly to belly attempt and executes a rolling neck snap. Race with a head butt and other knee. Race grabs a leg and slows the pace with an Indian Death Lock. Backbreaker and Hennig rolls to the floor. Hennig rolls back into the ring and manages to duck a running lariat attempt. Standing dropkick sends Race backwards into the corner. Hennig whips Race across and lands a kick. Hennig with a series of rolling neck snaps, forearms and dropkicks. Race falls to the floor. Hennig is out and they brawl in the face of Dr. Mike Lano is snapping pictures of each blow. Race with a backbreakers in the middle of the ring. Hennig counter a head butt and Race gets rebounded off the ropes. Hennig goes for backdrop but Race counters with a piledriver. Race plants Hennig with a VERTICAL SUPLEX for the three count (R3/P4).

Magnum T.A. v. Tully Blanchard w/J.J. Dillon
One of the hottest feuds of 1985 was reignited in the opening round of the tournament. First fly and fly and fly as they come to the middle of the ring. Morgan Dollar is just looking on and it appears he wants to see a clean winner. Knee smash from Blanchard stops the stalemate. Allen goes outside but quickly rolls back in but Blanchard uses his momentum to toss Allen back to the floor. Blanchard tries an elbow from the top but Allen counter with a bread basket blow. Allen with a running forearm and then nearly backdrops Blanchard to the moon. Blanchard goes into the ropes but hits a tackle on the rebound before landing a kick in the corner after a whip in. Blanchard sends Allen hard into the corner and follows with a clothesline. Blanchard scales the corner but Allen counters a double sledge attempt with an upper cut. Blanchard is rebounded into a back elbow and Allen follows with a running forearm. 1, 2, shoulder up (R5/P4). Allen takes the fight to the floor and Blanchard scores with a low blow to regain the advantage. Dillon slips Blanchard a foreign object . . . BLAMM! ALLEN IS DOWN! 1, 2, kick out (R7/P4). Blood is flowing into Allen’s eyes. Blanchard tosses Allen to the floor. Chair across the back! OUTRAGE! Back outside. Brawling. Blanchard with knee to the gut. Back to the floor again. Blanchard chokes out Allen with cord… HEAT!!! Back inside, chinlock squeezes out more crimson. Blanchard move to an arm bar and then mocks Allen with a belly to belly suplex. Blanchard with a piledriver. Two count only (R10/P5). Back to the floor. Blanchard stomps away. Back inside. Blanchard to the top . . . gloats to the fans . . . Allen knocks the ropes . . . Blanchard crashes to the mat! POP!!! Scorpion Death Lock . . . countered! Kick in the corner. Piledriver. Allen looks out!!! Toss to the floor. Blanchard cocky at ringside . . . Fireman’s carry from Allen . . . THROUGH THE RINGSIDE TABLE!!!! OMG. Scorpion Death Lock . . . Blanchard bails . . . selling the back. Allen is outside . . . kick below the belt . . . Blanchard applies a chinlock but Allen counters but cannot get a vertical suplex completed before Blanchard lands a punch in the face. Blanchard goes for another belly to belly . . . COUNTERED!. Allen shows him how it is done. He goes for another but Blanchard knee smash hits first. Rope burn is countered . . . press slam. OUT OF MY SEAT! Trading punches. Allen goes into the corner . . . blocks charge with knee to the chest. Dropkicks land. Backdrop sets up running forearm. Allen hooks the leg. Dillon is in . . . clothesline. ROARING. Atomic drop to Blanchard . . . 1, 2, kick out (R10/P5). Allen locks in an abdominal stretch. Jabs land. Blanchard fires back. Piledriver downs Allen. Two whips into the corner with following kicks. Dropkicks ducked! Jabs miss. Another piledriver from Blanchard. Dillon is back on this feet. Top rope sledge from Blanchard. Allen falls outside. Blanchard is out for stomps. Grinding chinlock. Belly to belly from Blanchard . . . BOOOO! Goes for a second one but it is countered. Blanchard maintains control. Top rope sledge lands. Dropkicks is ducked again. Both men on the mat sucking wind. Blanchard rebounded into a backdrop. Jabs set up a running forearm. Allen controls. Blanchard into the ropes . . . backdrop countered with piledriver. The go to the floor and tear it up. Allen gets the upper hand. Atomic drop. Blanchard into the ropes . . .double clothesline and they go both go down. Allen is up first. Dropkicks, dropkicks and more dropkicks. Allen cover. 1, 2, Dillon distracts Dollar! NOOO! Backdrop. Jabs countered. Double sledge lands. Allen bails. More fighting on the floor. Allen smashes Blanchard with a chunk of the ringside table! Dillon gets one as well POP!!!! Deathjump smash. Atomic drop. . . 1, 2, ¾ (R8/P7). Allen with an abdominal stretch. Blanchard escapes outside. Allen drops him with a chair shot of his own. Blanchard is wearing the crimson mask. Allen with an atomic drop and dropkicks. Jabs. Blanchard into the ropes. Tackle from Blanchard. Rope burn blinds Allen. Dropkick misses when Allen falls over! Running forearm spills Blanchard to the floor. Allen outside. Blanchard runs Allen into the ring post. SLINGSHOT SUPLEX . . . 1, 2, 3 (R6/P7).

Nick Bockwinkel w/Bobby “The Brain” Heenan v. Larry Zbyszko
Morgan Dollar has strict instructions for both competitors but the Brain is allowed to stay. Bockwinkel looks stellar early countering and executing a drop toe hold. Back suplex plants Zbyszko and Bockwinkel hooks the leg for a two count (R8/P3). The go to the floor and Bockwinkel runs Zbyszko’s knee off the floor. Zbyszko is nearly counted out of the ring. Bockwinkel with back to back deathjump smashes and a choke on the ropes. Bockwinkel take it back to the floor. Zbyszko lands a spin kick. Back inside, Bockwinkel has his face smashed off the buckle. Bockwinkel blocks a knee smash and plants Zbyszko again with a back suplex. Bockwinkel covers and gets the three count (R4/P5).

“Macho Man” Randy Savage v. Ted DIBiase
DiBiase gets into the face of Morgan Dollar and it looks to some at ringside like a transaction may have occurred. DiBiase gets control and a gut wrench suplex gets a one count (R12/P1). DiBiase with power slam and falling fist drop. DiBiase is feeling good with another fist drop and whip into the corner followed by a kick. Savage gets rebounded off he ropes and DiBiase ducks down for backdrop . . . Inside cradle. Two count (R3/P1). Savage to the top . . . FLYING ELBOW SMASH . . . 1, 2, kick out (R9/P5). DiBiase is tossed to the floor. Savage is out after him but DiBiase bounces Savage off the ringside table. Powerslam and Savage bails. DiBiase pursues his opponent but Savage grabs him and runs him into the ring post. Savage with a deathjump smash. Savage back to the top . . . FLYING ELBOW SMASH . . . 1, 2, kick out (R10/P6). Savage takes the fight back to the floor. He grabs the ring bell . . . DING!!! DiBiase goes down hard! Flying axe-handle to the floor. Vaulting neck snap and a bloody DiBiase falls to the floor. Savage takes it back to the floor once again. DiBiase grabs a chair but his wild swing is way wide. Savage grabs the chair away and decks DiBiase! Morgan Dollar calls for the bell and disqualifies Savage! Dollar is lucky to get out of ringside alive!

Lou Thesz vs. Buddy Rogers
Thesz gets the jump and sends Nature Boy into the ropes. Backdrop countered with a piledriver. Pin using the ropes gets Rogers nowhere with Morgan Dollar. Thesz gets whipped hard into the corner but counters a clothesline with one of his own. Both men go down. Rogers with an elbow drop and forearms. Another whip into the corner . . . reversed. Rogers hits the corner hard but ducks out of the charge from Thesz. Rogers rolls up Thesz for a one count (R10/P2). Rogers misses an elbow drop and Thesz rebounds Rogers into a tackle. Thesz with kicks to the knee and powerslam. Rogers fires back with forearms and punches. Jumping knee smash to the leg sends Thesz to the floor to walk it off. Atomic drop to the knee does more damage. Rogers follows with dropkicks and hooks the leg for two (R5/P3). Rogers with a deathjump smash to the leg. Pin using the ropes . . . Dollar is not buying it. They counter back and forth. Thesz send Rogers into the ropes . . . tackle from the Nature Boy. Thesz lands a tackle of his own and spills Rogers to the floor with dropkicks. Rogers regains the ring and Thesz is ready with a GRECO-ROMAN BACKDROP for a one count only (R9/P3). Double wrist lock sets up a THESZ PRESS for a one count (R10/P4). Double wrist lock into a stepover toehold facelock. Into the corner, Rogers reverses and charges but Thez counters with a knee to the chest. Thesz controls including a double leg pickup into a slam. Rogers counters and plants Thesz with a piledriver out of nowhere. 1, 2, kick out (R8/P3). Rogers is after the leg with a jumping smash. A brawl on the floor ends with chop block from Rogers… HEAT! Rogers twice attempts a pin using the ropes but Dollar sees the infraction. Another jumping knee smash lands to Thesz’s knee. Dropkicks spills Thesz outside. Rogers rolls up Thesz . . 1, foot on the ropes, 2, ¾ (R5/P4). More brawling on the floor. Thesz avoids an elbow drop. Back to back airplane spins sends both men crashing to the mat. Rogers stumbles to his feet and right into a THESZ PRESS . . .1, KICK OUT! OMG (R12/P5). Thesz presses the attack. Stepover toehold facelock. Dropkicks connect and send Rogers to the floor. Rogers crawls back in and Thesz hits a GRECO-ROMAN BACKDROP for the victory (R3/P6).

Gorgeous George w/Cherie Dupré v. The Destroyer
George is tossing out pins and the fans are tossing them back in. Folding his robe and the fans want to kill George. Morgan Dollar sends Dupré to the back . . . ROARING! Destroyer with slams and leg scissors. Backbreaker lands and Destroyer presses for two and half (R4/P3). Bow and Arrow ties up George and Destroyer presses with an airplane spin. Whip to the corner is reverses. Destroyer easily gets clear of a charging George who crashes hard into the corner. Roll up for one (R10/P4). Bow and arrow punishes. Destroyer to the top . . . misses! George with his own airplane spin. ROLLING HIPLOCKS for a pin attempt (R10/P2). Figure four leglock from George. Destroyer bails to take a breather. Back in the ring, George with ROLLING HIP LOCKS for a two count (R7/P3). George back to the figure four. Destroyer escapes a Gorgeous Grip rolling to the floor. George follows but Destroyer bounces George’s face off the ringside table. “My Face, My Face!!” Kick to the knee from Destroyer. George counters a side to side headlock and sends Destroyer into the corner. Clothesline connects. Destroyer tosses George to the floor. Back inside, SPINNING TOEHOLD. Destroyer struggles . . . makes the ropes! To the floor . . . George grabs a chair . . . smash to the knee! HEAT!!! ROLLING HIP LOCKS . . . 1, 2, 3 (R3/P5).
Big Van Vader v. Stan Hansen
These two tore it up as part of my annual 64 tournament and the fans were hoping for more intense action in this rematch. Back and forth early. Hansen with a big elbow drop. Hansen with a snapmare into a sleeperhold. Vader powers up and sends Hansen into the corner. Hansen with countering knee to the chest. Hansen back to the snap mare and sleeperhold. Vader powers back to his feet and Hansen send him into the ropes . . . backdrop countered with a piledriver. Hansen is tossed to the floor. Vader with a slam onto the concrete. 6, 7, 8 . . . back into the ring. VADER BOMB for two (R9/P4). RELEASED VADER BOMB . . .1, 2, 3 (R2/P6).

Bruiser Brody v. Abdullah The Butcher
Fans are heading for the hills as Brody swings his chain on the way to the ring. Brody manages to send Butcher wobbling into the ropes for a tackle and then lands a kick in the corner. One-handed body slam. Brody covers . . . Morgan Dollar counts to two (R3/P2). Big boot to the face. Cover for two (R5/P3). Brody tosses Butcher to the floor but stays in the ring himself . . . HUSS! HUSS! Brody tosses Butcher to the floor again. Butcher trips over Dr. Mike Lano! Brody lays in the stomps. Brody with a piledriver. OMG! One-handed body slam. Butcher rolls outside. Brawling. Fans are bailing from their seats. Back to the ring. Butcher lands an elbow off the second rope. Karate thrust to the throat. Brody with a headbutt. Nerve hold forces Brody to the outside. Butcher smashes Brody with a chair! BOOO! Another elbow from the second rope and again! Karate thrust to the throat. Butcher hooks the leg . . . 1, 2, shoulder up (R6/P5). More brawling on the floor. SUDANESE MEAT CLEAVER. 1, 2, 3 (R8/P8)

ROUND TWO

Harley Race v. Tully Blanchard w/J.J. Dillon
Dhillon and Blanchard corner Morgan Dollar in the corner and the official appears shaken by the encounter. Blanchard grabs the hair and takedowns Race. Top rope sledge lands and Race bails. Race regains the ring but Blanchard tosses him back to the floor. Blanchard follows but Race grabs him and bounces his face off the ringside table. Back suplex plants Blanchard but he manages to reverse a whip into the corner. Blanchard follows him in and Race gets up the knee. Blanchard reverses a second whip and catches Race in the corner. Both men counter each other. Race with a headbutt. Falling knee misses. Top rope sledge and Race bails. Dr. Mike Lano moves in for a close up Harley Race and his flashbulb explodes into the face of Race! OMG! Dillon tosses Race back into the ring and Blanchard covers. 1, 2, kick out (R6/P3). Blanchard tosses Race back to the floor. Blanchard comes up behind a still blinded Race and grabs him but Race is able to shove Blanchard off and into the ring post! Dollar wipes out the eyes of Race as a now groggy and bloodied Blanchard rolls back under the ropes. Race with a PILEDRIVER. 1, 2, Dillon distracts Dollar!!! HEAT!!!! Back suplex lands. Race sends Blanchard into the corner. Race charges but Blanchard moves aside. Blanchard rolls up Race for two (R6/P4). Dillon passes Blanchard a taped object. . . RACE GOES DOWN! Bockwinkel tosses DiBiase back to the floor. Bockwinkel comes off the top onto the leg. FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. DiBiase makes the ropes (R6/P3). Bockwinkel back to the leg with a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. DiBiase manages to roll to the ropes again (R6/P4). Choke on the ropes. DiBiase rolls to the floor. Back to the ring. DiBiase attempts a superplex but Bockwinkel kicks him off. The come to the ring for the lock up and exchange whips into the corner reversals ending up with George hitting the buckles and Thesz following with a clothesline. Thesz works over George with side headlocks and a double leg pickup to slam. Dropkicks down George. George attempts his own dropkick but Thesz knocks him aside. Rolling short-arm scissors. George just makes the ropes (R9/P6). Stepover toehold facelock and George escapes to the floor. Thesz follows but George shoves Dr. Mike Lano into Thesz! Back in the ring, George grabs a leg for a figure four leglock. Airplane spin downs Thesz but George also stumbles and falls to the mat . . .ROARING. Both regain their feet and Thesz is sent off into the ropes . . .backdrop countered with a piledriver. George regains his feet but Thesz connects with a THESZ PRESS. Dollar drops . . .1, 2, 3/kick out (R9/P9). There is confusion. Thesz is announced as the winner and George is livid.

Big Van Vader v. Abdullah The Butcher
Vader overpowers from the bell. Scorpion Death Lock. Power body slam . . . ring shakes!!! Cover for one (R9/P1). Butcher counters and tries a shoulder block . . . VADER EATS IT. Front slam from Vader . . . two count (R5/P2). Vader with a suplex! Vader slows it with a front chancery. Butcher back to his feet. Vader with hammering forearm assault and front slam. 1, 2, kick out (R4/P3). Suplex again . . . WOW! Butcher rolls out and back in. Bone-crushing splash. Another one for good measure. Front slam. Butcher is tossed to the floor. Vader is out side. Fans are braced to book . . . Butcher bounces Vader’s face off the ringbell. Vader drops an elbow off the second rope. Vader to the floor. Vader drags out Butcher . . . into the post. Butcher is busted wide open. RELEASE POWER BOMB . . . OMG!!!! 1, 2, 3 (R5/P6).

Morgan Dollar as stern instructions for both corners causing the fans to see a potential disqualification finish given the amount of heat seekers at ringside. Blanchard works the arm but when he goes for the eyes Bockwinkel grabs an arm bar. Bockwinkel controls and moves to the lower body. Back suplex and Bockwinkel covers for a one count (R11/P3). Bockwinkel opts not to take it to the floor and lands another back suplex and another . . . cover for two (R8/P3). Bockwinkel with a butt drop to the leg and another pair of back suplexes. Vader corners Morgan Dollar and gets into a heated exchange. Dollar is not pleased and fired up. Vader with a power slam and then hammering forearm smashes.
