Beat the Bug Showdown: Legends Hardcore Tournament 04.04.2020 from Chicago, IL
Rob Van Dam vs. Justin Credible Rob Van Dam defeated Justin Credible with a leg drop across the guardrail at 13:13 Match Rating: 3.00 Match Notes: Well, Justin Credible made RVD work for it, but Van Dam didn't seem to mind the chance to show off every move in his arsenal. Though even he was frustrated after a VAN TERMINATOR didn't put him away. It did, however, bust Credible wide open.
RVD followed it up with some high-flying action and showed no mercy by hitting a Van Daminator on the bloodied Credible.
Finally, he dragged him outside and hit a big leg drop on the guardrail. At this point, like an animal toying with its prey he finished it with a cover for the 1, 2, 3.
Sandman vs. Shane Douglas Sandman defeated Shane Douglas with a SINGAPORE CANE at 11:54 Match Rating: 3.50 Match Notes: Great brawl. Douglas brought the fight early and scored a near fall off the ropes but Sandman would battle back when the fight went outside, of course.
He kept the fight on the outside for quite a bit of the bout and scored a near fall with the WHITE RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP.
Eventually Sandman brought out the Singapore Cane and used to beat Douglas down multiple times before finally scoring the win.
Killer Kowalski vs. Bull Curry Killer Kowalski defeated Bull Curry with a jumping knee drop at 11:39 Match Rating: 3.50 Match Notes: Really good old school brawl between these two competitors.
They went back and forth early on, but Curry suffered a bite from Kowalski that gave the Killer the opening he needed.
Curry absorbed a lot of punishment and the match spilled outside multiple times, but Kowalski kept control and finished Curry off with a Bombs Away followed by another jumping knee drop for the 1, 2, 3.
Ox Baker vs. Mad Dog Vachon Mad Dog Vachon defeated Ox Baker with a PILEDRIVER at 29:51 Match Rating: 4.75 Match Notes: This is an early candidate for match of the tournament. It had everything you could want from these two and more. They went back and forth for a spell until Vachon took over and worked Baker over big time.
Baker would bounce back, however, and Vachon could only seize his moment when the action spilled outside. He busted Baker wide open with a shot to the head from a turnbuckle wrench and they used anything and everything at their disposal to punish one another.
Baker, somehow came back and it looked like he might put Vachon away. He even hit the HEART PUNCH, but Vachon kicked out!
Vachon was soon split open and wearing the crimson mask after a chair shot. Both men bleeding profusely went back and forth until Vachon escaped a bear hug and rolled outside. He clobbered the bloody Baker with the ring bell, rolled him inside and hit his PILEDRIVER finisher with mere seconds to spare in the time limit! 1, 2, 3!
Great, great match, Epitomizing this tournament. Will Vachon have the stamina to keep up in the next round?
Rob Van Dam vs. Sandman Sandman defeated Rob Van Dam with a SINGAPORE CANE at 8:43 Match Rating: 3.50 Match Notes: Solid brawl that spent more time outside the ring than in it and that ended up favoring the Sandman.
RVD started off big even scoring a near fall after a split-legged moonsault. He grabbed a chair and hit his first of two Van Daminators!
Action spilled outside and RVD hit a big plancha and then busted Sandman open with another Van Daminator!
In spite of all this, it didn't take Sandman long to rally and as RVD set up a table for his own use, Sandman grabbed him and suplexed him through it!
Sandman was bleeding but it only seemed to fuel his fire. He pummeled RVD with the SINGAPORE CANE and scored a near fall, but took thing back outside and threw everything but the kitchen sink at Van Dam.
Sandman was having a ball and shared a beer with a fan and then clocked RVD with the cane again and again and again.
One last stiff shot to the head with the SINGAPORE CANE inside scored the 1, 2, 3!
Killer Kowalski vs. Mad Dog Vachon Mad Dog Vachon defeated Killer Kowalski with a PILEDRIVER at 15:02 Match Rating: 4.25 Match Notes: Mad Dog Vachon is on a tear and has participated in the two best matches of the night so far.
They jockeyed for position early and Kowalski's strength seemed to win out, but Vachon kept battling back.
Eventually Vachon hit a Mad Dog Pounce and that helped to the change the complexion of the match. Of course this wasn't before Kowalski slapped on his FACE CLAW and reopened the cut from earlier. Vachon paid him back by biting Kowalski viciously and opening him up too!
Vachon kept the pressure on and thought Kowalski attempted to get something going, Vachon had an answer for everything.
The hardcore brutality ended when Vachon hit the PILEDRIVER for the 1, 2, 3!
Sandman/Vachon in the finals!
Sandman vs. Mad Dog Vachon Sandman defeated Mad Dog Vachon with a WHITE RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP at 14:12 Match Rating: 4.00 Match Notes: These two wasted little time in opening up the cuts from earlier matches and as a result this one was an ugly bloodbath. But it was a hell of a hardcore war and Vachon continued to be the tournament's MVP with stellar performances.
He came so close but Sandman was able to dish out a huge amount of punishment that Vachon, in site of a valorous comeback, was never able to fully recover from.
Both men, bleeding buckets, brawled around the ringside area. Fans were behind Vachon as he hit a big Mad Dog Pounce but Sandman slipped outside and dragged Vachon out and DDT'd him on a chair!
Back in he laid into him with some stomps, a Rolling Rock, and then Sandman finished him off to win the tournament with a WHITE RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP!
The Sandman celebrates with some beers in the ring and is you Beat the Bug Showdown: Legends Hardcore Tournament winner!
Overall Card Rating: 3.79 Match of the Night: Mad Dog Vachon vs Ox Baker

Another tournament by Chad & Cory, another terrible final match! I was really disappointed in Douglas' match, as well as Mad Dog's. This final match was a little more competitive than our men's and women's tournaments but not by much! I was surprised by how much RVD dominated Kowalski.
