When certain wrestlers are allowed to make a (Situational Choice) it is usually accompanied by a move and a number. Am I allowed to still perform the move and ignore the (Ch) or is the move merely a prerequisite to making the choice? In other words, is the Situation Choice optional?

Technically, according to the rules, the (Ch) is part of the advanced rules, and so, if you are using those, (As most do), then you are supposed to pick one of the 2 choices on the chart... The move on the card in front of the (Ch) is for those using the basic ruleset. However, as Tom has said since day one... "It's up to you, promoter!"

Just remember, not using the choices does alter the abilities of each performer. So at some point once you're comfortable with the game, progressing to advanced rules will help show the differentiation in strengths among the wrestlers.

The problem with using the original move as an option is moves like "powerbomb - 3 (ch G)." In that instance, no one would ever choose either choice because the powerbomb - 3 is guaranteed to work every time (or if you're facing the rare guy with a comeback on L3D, it's still a higher percentage shot).

I have always played with the choice rule, but have just replaced the standard move on the choice chart with the move on the card's name. This way, the choice is between a move specific to the wrestler instead of generic. I just don't see the reason to take the wrestler's move away and replace it with a generic spear for example...

I intermix it....if it's Legends I typically use the move on the card (I know some people liking Frank Gotch moonsaulting, but it doesn't work for me) but in GWF, I interchange to increase the moves a wrestler uses.
