I have never used any of these things. Talking on the phone is hard to me, so I don't do that either. My school wants me on zoom, but so far have refused. But this may be my on Galactic con, after 30 years... This is weird of you to say for one simple reason... back in the day, you used to send me cassettes with an update of the goings on in your life/fed. I used to love getting these and would replay them several times before sending them back! Zoom is just an updated version of that my friend...

I don’t get the zoom hate unless it’s on the conversation starter side of thing since I haven’t done that yet .. I’ve used it a couple times this pandemic for virtual hangouts. You joined and that was it, you can change your backgrounds and stuff maybe that’s hard. I didn’t think there was anything wrong with it, can put up paper if you don’t want people to see your face. Has cool Brady bunch view thing which I thought was neat.
Shrugs, seemed easier than Skype.

Yep, if you don't feel comfortable on camera, dont turn the camera on and feel free to mute yourself if you need to. Believe me I will be utilizing the mute all button liberally. Honestly, I have tried a few video conference softwares and Zoom is very user fiendly, and also allows for things like breakout rooms, which will help for tournaments, etc. Going to takie some getting used to at first, but I think given the circumstances, it should work out great.

My camera will be off for sure. Mic will probably be muted at times too. Looking forward to it all anyways.

Sometimes I work on Saturdays, so seeing as how the Con opens on the 11th at 11 am for an opening cermeony so to speak, will there be a way to find out the info discussed in case I or anyone else for that matter can read over before we enter any events? Thanks, in advance.

If you can post on this discussion board, you can use Zoom.

I suggest logging on Friday night during the social time to make sure you are comfortable with the system. Its pretty easy, but I'm sure there will be a few hiccups since this is the first time for us. But I have been on a bunch of zoom meeting for Scout Leader District stuff and Cub Pack activities and for the most part it worked well for everyone. Only thing you have to be careful about sometimes is sensitive popup blockers.
