Hello all,
I am a very long time player, but for various reasons, I don't post my fed results on the board. (I read and enjoy a number of them, however!) But every so often, something happens that I just feel the need to share...
So, in my NWA fed, Harley Race was my World Champ, and was generally a heel. The Sandman is a popular face and has a loose alliance with Steve Corino and Mikey Whipwreck, and the three of them have been feuding with the Triple-Threat of Shane Douglas, Chris Candido, and Justin Credible.
Well, Sandman won the U.S. Title, and had a good run of defenses; enough to earn a World Title shot against Race. But in the card right before that match, Sandman lost the U.S. Title to Ox Baker. I opted to still give Sandman the shot at the big belt, and he won it with the Singapore Cane!
In the match to that point, Race hadn't done anything "heelish"... Not even thrown Sandman out of the ring, and so, I figured that the crowd would have been confused as to why Sandman would have done that... A rematch was immediately set, and it also ended in a Singapore Cane shot.
Not to mention that the pin roll was doubles. So, I rolled on the feud chart, and it said that two of Sandman's allies came out to attack Race. I couldn't imagine that being Whipwreck and Corino, based on the way they had been portrayed in my fed, and so I figured it needed to be Candido and Credible.
They brutalized Harley; injuring him for 5 cards, and all three were suspended for 4. The Title was stripped from Sandman and a tournament will be held to crown a new champ. In addition, No one knows where Douglas stands with all of this... Is he still with the Triple-Threat, and they are now the "Quadruple-Threat", or did Candido and Credible join up with Sandman against Shane's wishes? So far Shane isn't talking.
I love stuff like this that takes things down a path that I was not considering in the least. I never expected Sandman to win even the U.S. Title, not to mention the world title from Race. These are the things that have kept me playing FG since 1989.
