Just getting caught up on all of the action, including the switch to WCCW and the draft. Great stuff going on here and I especially loved that cage match win by Harley Race over Ted Dibiase.

Just getting caught up on all of the action, including the switch to WCCW and the draft. Great stuff going on here and I especially loved that cage match win by Harley Race over Ted Dibiase. Thanks! Having a small roster is really great at letting me extend and build up feuds to a big payoff. Thanks for reading!

PROUDLY PRESENTS CARD 1981.040 Live from WCCW Studios, Burbank, CA! Belgian Brawler d. Tom Prichard via countout after a slam on the concrete floor knocked PRITCHARD out cold.
Iron Sheik d. Missing Link via pinfall after a kick with a loaded boot in a great back and forth match.
THE VALIANT BROTHERS d. BACK ALLEY PUNKS via pinfall when Johnny Valiant hit Virgil with a TOP ROPE ELBOW.
BILL APTER'S HOT SEAT With Guests: WCCW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION KING HARLEY RACE & an update on the MIDNIGHT EXPRESS OPEN CHALLENGE!
(KING HARLEY RACE came out with THE ARMSTRONGS on either side of him.)
RACE: Apter, did you see that title bout on the last episode of MONDAY NIGHT MAYHEM? Did you see what PERFECT did?
APTER: Well, he slammed you into the ringpost and got himself disqualified.
RACE: Right! He did that to try and take me out! To try and take out the KING! You see, Perfect, for all his faults, is pretty smart. He knows he cannot beat the king. He knows he doesn't posses the talent, the brains, the charisma, the strength to put HARLEY RACE on his back. So he's trying to take me out by injuring me. By using illegal tactics to try and keep the king down. Well Perfect, I got news for you! You can't keep me down! You can't injure the KING! You can't take the KING out! But you'd better be damned sure that the KING can take YOU out PERFECT! That's why I've petitioned COMMISSIONER PATRICK to make a match for LAST NIGHT, the grandest Supercard of them all, you and me PERFECT, one more time! Of course i'll put my WCCW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP on the line against you PERFECT, and that's because I'M confident you won't be able to take it! But I'm going to give you a little help. I'm going to give you your shot! Your chance! To try and take out THE KING! Because perfect, on December 31, when you step into the ring with me, it's going to be in 15 Foot High STEEL CAGE! You'll have the cage to use to your advantage PERFECT and you'd better use it quick because, the cage is MY playground. I pioneered the cage match here in the WCCW! I won this belt, with sweat blood and tears IN THE CAGE! I defeated the IRON SHEIK to win this prize, IN A CAGE! I defeated Ted DiBiase, IN A CAGE and sent him running out of the WCCW like a baby! And I even remember, when was it? Oh yeah, WRESTLEMANIA II! I defended this belt IN A CAGE and destroyed my opponent. Who was that opponent again....oh yeah, it was YOU PERFECT! I destroyed you once and I'm gonna destroy you again! And I'm going to beat you within an inch of your life! I'm going to beat you so badly, you're going to to be laid up in the hospital for the first part of the new year, regretting the day you ever decided to mess with...THE KING!
(With that RACE and THE ARMSTRONGS left the ringside area. While this would have been a dynamite ending to the show, COMMISSIONER PATRICK came out next.)
PATRICK: Last time on MAYHEM, the MIDNIGHT EXPRESS came out here and issued an open challenge to any tag team in the LWA to a match at LAST NIGHT on December 31! I'd like to now bring out the manager of the WCCW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS, JIM CORNETTE.
(CORNETTE comes out to a chorus of boos.)
PATRICK: Now Jim, I have here the guest contract you offered up last week, and I have to tell you there has been a team that has accepted your challenge.
CORNETTE: Well of course someone accepted you moron, everyone wants a shot to step in the ring with the longest reigning tag team champions in the LWA.
PATRICK: Well I just wanted to clear up the stipulations of this match, you said last time that if this team beat the MIDNIGHT EXPRESS you will vacate the WCCW Tag Team titles and rank yourselves at the bottom of the tag rankings and work your way back up.
CORNETTE: Whoa, whoa whoa there PATRICK. You're only partially right! The stipulation is if they CLEANLY defeat us by pinfall or submission! We're not going to give up the belts if the match ends in a DQ or countout!
PATRICK: Okay, okay, well I'd say you're going to have your men are going to have their hands full...
CORNETTE: Yeah, yeah yeah...it doesn't matter who it is PATRICK, the MIDNIGHT EXPRESS will defeat them!
PATRICK: Well, we'll see about that, because on December 31, the MIDNIGHT EXPRESS will face in a special challenge match...
CORNETTE: Come on, PATRICK, tell us who the losers are already!
PATRICK: Okay, well the two names here on the contract are...
CORNETTE: WHO!?!
PATRICK: On special loan from the HEARTLAND WRESTLING ALLIANCE for one night only, Former WCCW CHAMPIONS...HAWK AND ANIMAL THE ROAD WARRIORS!
CORNETTE: WHAT?!?!
(The crowd goes BEZERK, but not as much as CORNETTE! He's tears off his jacket and is screaming at COMMISSIONER PATRICK who just keeps showing the contract to him. This is the scene we see as the show...)

PROUDLY PRESENTS CARD 1981.041 Live from Portland Sports Arena, Portland, OR! S. D. Jones d. Cousin Luke via pinfall after a headbutt - **
THE ARMSTRONGS d. BACK ALLEY PUNKS via submission when "Bullet" Bob Armstrong locked Virgil in a sleeper hold - *
NO DQ OR COUNTOUT Belgian Brawler d. Tom Prichard via pinfall after a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker - *1/2
THE VALIANT BROTHERS d. THE MONGOLS via DQ when Bepo Mongol started smashing Jonny Valiant with his chains - **
TEXAS DEATH MATCH Iron Sheik d. Missing Link with a pinfall after a sidewinder suplex - ***** - This was an awesome back and forth match that the ring could barely contain. The action was back and forth, but LINK could never really find a way to put the IRON SHEIK down.
CHAIN MATCH "Cowboy" Bob Orton d. The Destroyer via pinfall after a clothesline from the top rope with the chain. - **
SPECIAL TAG TEAM CHALLENGE MATCH (STIPULATIONS - If the ROAD WARRIORS defeat the MIDNIGHT EXPRESS the MIDNIGHT EXPRESS will vacate the belts and start at the bottom of the tag team roster and work their way back up!)
THE ROAD WARRIORS d. MIDNIGHT EXPRESS via pinfall when Road Warrior Animal covered Stan Lane after a devastating power slam. - ***** - HOLY COW! This matchup could ONLY be considered the MATCH OF THE YEAR! If it doesn't win it's a tragedy! In the early goings of the match, the MIDNIGHT EXPRESS dominated! THE ROAD WARRIORS looked like they'd fall to the champs. ELLERING got involved but then was knocked out. The EXPRESS were moments from winning. The tide turned though midway through the match when the action spilled outside the ring. A wild brawl erupted and the referee actually Disqualified STAN LANE for slamming ANIMAL into the ring post at ringside.
COMMISSIONER PATRICK ran down to ringside and grabbed the mic and announced that he was not going to let the EXPRESS get away with keeping their titles BY DQ, so he ordered the match to continue with NO DQ/NO COUTNOUT rules! This seemed to give the ROAD WARRIORS their second wind. The WARRIORS hit the DOOMSDAY DEVICE on STAN LANE and were about to get the pin when CORNETTE ran into the ring. He received a clothestine for his trouble and was thrown out of the ring into the waiting arms of BOBBY EATON! ANIMAL picked up LANE and gave him a tremendous BODYSLAM for good measure and that was all she wrote!
Heartland Wrestling's ROAD WARRIORS had defeated THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS and because of that, the MIDNIGHT EXPRESS are no longer WCCW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS. In fact, COMMISSIONER PATRICK took the tag belts with him from ringside! The crowd was electric for this match!
WCCW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP STEEL CAGE MATCH King Harley Race d. Mr. Perfect with an escape from the cage - pinfall - after a diving headbutt - ** - PERFECT didn't mount much of an offense in this match and the KING dominated him pretty soundly. After escaping the cage, RACE dragged PERFECT outside the ring and gave him not one, but TWO devastating piledrivers on the arena floor. PERFECT was taken from ringside on a stretcher and RACE followed him all the way out shouting 'I AM THE KING!'
Initial reports put PERFECT out of action for 6 cards.

PROUDLY PRESENTS Live from WCCW Studios, Burbank, CA! BILL APTER: Hello fans! Welcome to the 1981 WCCW YEAR IN REVIEW! A look back at 1981 - a year of change! What a year it was too!
- What started the year as the GSW, ended the year at the WCCW as the GOLDEN STATE WRESTLING joined the national alliance the LEGENDS WRESTLING ALLIANCE and changed it's name to WEST COAST CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING!
- Some of the wrestlers on the LWF roster at the beginning of the year were wrestling for other companies in other parts of the country by year's end! Former fed superstars such as the Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase, THE KILLER BEES, Jimmy 'Superfly' Snuka and 'Ravishing' Rick Rude left the company for other federations. Even former TAG TEMA CHAMPIONS THE ROAD WARRIORS left, but at year's end we'd see them back for one night only!
- Although many wrestlers left the federation, we saw an influx of new talent thanks to the LWA draft. New superstars like The Destroyer, THE ARMSTRONGS and THE VALIANTS have made impressive impact in their short tenure. Meanwhile newcomers like Larry 'The Axe' Hennig and THE NEW AGE OUTLAWS, despite their tremendous potential have failed to make their presence felt.
- It was also the year that saw the rise and fall of the local competing federation the XWF. Proving that it takes more that dreams to make it in the world of professional wrestling. We'll be right back with the '81 WCCW AWARDS!
-- FADE TO COMMERCIALS --
BILL APTER: Welcome back to the WCCW YEAR END AWARDS! '81 saw many excellent matches proving that when it comes to in ring competition, there are not many who can match the excitement of WCCW Superstars.
#3 - 038 - SURVIVOR SERIES '81 1981.038 from Cow Palace, San Francisco - SURVIVAL RULES MATCH - The Destroyer, Iron Sheik, and Belgian Brawler vs. Virgil, Tom Pritchard, and Dennis Condrey The group known as INVASION entered the WCCW thanks to the LWA Draft. Lead by a masked man known only as The Destroyer, INVASION promised to dominate everyone in the WCCW. Three men, Virgil and newcomers Tom Pritchard and Dennis Condrey, formed a loose team to let them know that this would be no walk in the park. What happened that night was nothing short of amazing as The Destroyer, single handedly defeated each member of the opposing team! The Destroyer defeated Dennis Condrey with a missed turnbuckle charge. The Destroyer defeated Virgil with a Double bodyslam with the help of the Iron Sheik. The Destroyer defeated Tom Pritchard with a roll through after a spectacular deathjump.
#2 - 034 - DESTRUCTION CARD #1981.034 from Cow Palace, San Francisco, CA - LWF HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP - STEEL CAGE MATCH - King Harley Race vs. Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase for the WCCW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP It was the match that would send one wrestler packing from the WCCW for good! For months WCCW CHAMPION King Harley Race and #1 Challenger Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase were at each other's throats! Their feud started in August when Race defeated DiBiase in the final match of the CALIFORNIA CLASSIC! Their feud raged on on the MONDAY NIGHT MAYHEM program with challenges and sneak attacks. At the SURVIVOR SERIES, DiBiase's team soundly defeated Race's team and a six man tag match between Race and his partners the, then, WCCW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS, THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS and DiBiase and THE ROAD WARRIORS broke down into a an all out brawl! It was settled on October 30, '81 in a fifteen foot high steel cage! In the end, King Harley Race defeated Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase with a via pinfall / escape after a piledriver. DiBiase would never again appear in the WCCW.
#1 - 041 - LAST NIGHT '81 CARD 1981.041 from Portland Sports Arena, Portland, OR - SPECIAL TAG TEAM CHALLENGE MATCH - MIDNIGHT EXPRESS vs. THE ROAD WARRIORS Reigning Champions THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS complained of a lack of challenge amongst the tag team ranks of the WCCW so they make an open challenge to ANY team in the LWA saying that if they lost they'd vacate the belts and start back at the bottom rung of the tag team ranks and work their way back up. Well, their challenge was answered by former TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS THE ROAD WARRIORS! In the end, Road Warrior Animal defeated Stan Lane with a pinfall after a devastating power slam.
-- FADE TO COMMERCIALS --
BILL APTER: Hello fans and welcome back to the WCCW AWARDS! The WCCW certainly has no lack of tag teams willing to thrill the fans! There is always plenty of Tag Team action on ever WCCW card and there is a whole roster full of teams eager to make their mark. However there can be only one team to get the WCCW TAG TEAM OF THE YEAR award fro 1981!
HONORABLE MENTION - THE VALIANT BROTHERS Though they are new to the WCCW, they have made an impact as the team to watch. With decisive victories over THE MONGOLS, THE BACK ALLEY PUNKS and an impressive showing against TAG CHAMPIONS THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS, THE VALIANT BROTHERS have shown that they are here to wrestle! With the recent TAG TEAM TITLE shake up, many believe that it's Jimmy and Johnny's time to shine!
WCCW TAG TEAM OF THE YEAR - '81 - THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS Love them or hate them, you cannot deny that the team of Stan Lane and Bobby Eaton dominated in '81! They won the WCCW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS in May and held them straight through the end of the year. They racked up and impressive 11-1 record for the year defending their belts against any challenge they came across. In the end, this would be their undoing as it was an open challenge that lead to their only loss and the loss of their titles. Many are speculating on just how long it'll take for the EXPRESS to be back on top. Stay tuned fans! We'll be back with more!
-- FADE TO COMMERCIALS --
BILL APTER: The WCCW has it's share of wily managers! Men and women who will do whatever it takes (and sometimes cheat) to climb to the top of the heap in the WCCW!
HONORABLE MENTION - Bobby "The Brain" Heenan Many say it was Bobby "The Brain" Heenan who lead King Harley Race to the WCCW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP. It was while under Heenan's tutelage, Race was able to pick up that belt. Many also say it was Heenan who was the mastermind behind the infamous Heenan Family attack of Ted DiBiase on HOT SEAT in September. But when November came and the LWF became the WCCW and joined the LWA, Heenan was drafted elsewhere. Race later would say he was the one responsible for all his glory, and he's certainly proven that in the end of the year. Others speculate that it's only a matter of time until The King looses his crown now that Heenan is elsewhere.
WCCW MANAGER OF THE YEAR - 1981 - Jim Cornette Jim Cornette has a big mouth. He's known for making outrageous claims about the wrestlers under his banner. In '81, he, for the most part, was able to back up each one of those claims. He lead the MIDNIGHT EXPRESS to the WCCW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP and then lead them to the most impressive record the WCCW has seen, 11-1. He may have overstepped his confidence when he issued the open challenge that lead to his team vacating the belts, but knowing Cornette, he'll be back in '82 louder and wilder than ever! Okay fans, after the next break, we'll announce the WCCW WRESTLER OF THE YEAR!
-- FADE TO COMMERCIALS --
BILL APTER: Well, fans, this is it. This is the honor that every wrestler in the WCCW aspires to, the WCCW WRESTLER OF THE YEAR! There are so many men who poured their blood, sweat and tears into their craft this year, but in the end, only one can stand atop the heap.
HONORABLE MENTION - Mr. Perfect It takes a man to challenge for the WCCW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP and it takes a man to challenge for that belt twice in one year inside the confines of the STEEL CAGE! Though Mr. Perfect was unsuccessful in his quest for the belt, he was always willing to put his body on the line to try and achieve that goal. There's no doubt that this determination will continue into '82.
I would also like to briefly mention a rookie who's shown incredible promise since his debut in the WCCW. Currently ending the year with a perfect undefeated streak, The Belgian Brawler Dupae Rupa seems to be the brightest star amongst the young talent in the WCCW and perhaps the entire LWA. I'm sure everyone will be watching closely as this young man heads into the new year.
WCCW WRESTLER OF THE YEAR - King Harley Race Since May of '81, the WCCW has been ruled by King Harley Race. After winning the WCCW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP in a steel cage against the Iron Sheik at CIVIL WAR, Race has been unbeatable as champion. He has an amazing record of 8-0. Despite the loss of his manager, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan in the draft, Race has been able to defeat opponent after opponent this year. Now surrounding himself with the KING'S COURT, there appears to be no end in sight to his reign. Race is undefeated as Champion. The King Harley Race is, simply, the King!
-- FADE TO COMMERCIAL --
BILL APTER: During the past hour we've taken a look back at the WCCW in '81. We've seen the matches, the managers, the tag teams and the wrestlers who helped make the WCCW the very best in professional wrestling. But now it's time to look forward to '82! It's time for every wrestler on the roster to set their sights on appearing on this show next year! And it all starts next Monday night back here for MONDAY NIGHT MAYHEM! Thank you for watching fans! We'll see you then!

PROUDLY PRESENTS CARD 1982.042 Live from WCCW Studios, Burbank, CA! FADE IN
We see COMMISSION PATRICK in the middle of the ring at the WCCW Studios.
PATRICK: Welcome to MONDAY NIGHT MAYHEM!
CROWD cheers!
PATRICK: Well it's a whole new year and things are already explosive here in the WCCW! I've got so much to get through tonight. First of all, I need to address the WCCW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP situation! As you saw at LAST NIGHT, the MIDNIGHT EXPRESS are no longer the WCCW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS!
CROWD cheers!
PATRICK: Now, the EXPRESS and JIM CORNETTE will be guests on BILL APTER'S HOT SEAT later tonight, so I'm sure you'll be hearing from them about this, but it's up to me to decide what should be done to decide the new WCCW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS. On January 31, the WCCW will head up to Washington for a Pay Per View Event LIVE from the Seattle Center Arena in Seattle Washington! On that night the WCCW will present FINAL DECISION! One of the highlights of that event will be a four team Tag Team tournament to decide the new WCCW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS. The participants will be the top 4 Tag Teams according to the Championship Committee before the event! The committee will be watching the matches involving Tag Teams tonight and next week to make their decision. And, the MIDNIGHT EXPRESS will be eligible for the tournament. On January 31, we will have new WCCW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS!
CROWD cheers.
PATRICK: Now we need to discuss the upcoming LWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Tournament that's taking place on February at MADISON SQUARE GARDEN. Each federation in the LWA gets to send two representatives to New York for the tournament. The WCCW Championship Committee has decided that the WCCW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION "KING" HARLEY RACE will get the first slot in the tournament.
CROWD boos.
PATRICK: To fill the other slot we'll have a unique match at FINAL DECISION! The top 10 WCCW singles wrestlers will participate in the first ever SOLE SURVIVOR MATCH! The way this match works is the 10 men will battle in an OVER THE TOP BATTLE ROYAL until there are just two men left in the ring. At that moment the match will stop and a 15 foot high STEEL CAGE will be lowered around the ring and the two surviving men will square off in a STEEL CAGE MATCH until there is a SOLE SURVIVOR. That SOLE SURVIVOR will then go on to MADISON SQUARE GARDEN to wrestle for the LWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP!
CROWD goes nuts.
PATRICK: Well, I've talked your ear off long enough and we have a ton of action to get through tonight, so let's get it started!
CROWD cheers.
The Destroyer defeated Cousin Luke via pinfall after BOMBS AWAY - ***1/2 - Cousin Luke mounted NO offense in this extremely one sided affair.
THE VALIANT BROTHERS d. THE ARMSTRONGS via pinfall when Johnny Valiant slammed "Bullet" Bob Armstrong with a vicious SPINNING NECK BREAKER - ***1/2
NON TITLE MATCH King Harley Race defeated Belgian Brawler via pinfall after a back suplex - * - RACE destroyed the BELGIAN BRAWLER in this lightning quick match.
BILL APTER'S HOT SEAT SPECIAL GUESTS: THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS w/ Jim Cornette
THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS came to the set with Jim Cornette.
APTER: Jim Cornette, these past few days must have been rough for you and your men. To lose your belts in such a manner as you did. Losing to a team that's not even in the WCCW.
CORNETTE: Apter, would you shut your trap for a minute? Let me set the record straight here, the MIDNIGHT EXPRESS won that match! The ref rang the bell and began to award us the match because the ROAD-KILL WARRIORS cheated! They didn't play by the rules. Then what happens? COMMISSIONER PATRICK comes out and restarts the match. It's all so clear now, obviously THE ROAD WARRIORS paid off PATRICK to ensure the win! You know, love us or hate us, you can't deny the MIDNIGHT EXPRESS are the most dominant tag team in the WCCW. We were TAG TEAM OF THE YEAR. We were in the MATCH OF THE YEAR. This little set back, and that's all it is is a set back, will me nothing by February 1st. Because the MIDNIGHT EXPRESS is going to FINAL DECISION. We're going to be in the TOURNAMENT and we're going to win back the WCCW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP! And that's something you can take to the bank! With that CORNETTE and the MIDNIGHT EXPRESS left the set and we... FADE TO BLACKOriginally published at LOWPromoter.com on July 15, 2020. PROUDLY PRESENTS CARD 1982.043 Live from WCCW Studios, Burbank, CA! S. D. Jones defeated Iron Sheik with a DQ when IRON SHEIK hit S.D. with a chair outside the ring. - *1//2 - This was a great back and forth match that actually saw S.D. JONES come close to taking out the IRON SHIEK several times. "Cowboy" Bob Orton defeated Dennis Condrey with a kick to the head that lead to a pinfall. - SQUASHMIDNIGHT EXPRESS d. BACK ALLEY PUNKS when Stan Lane defeated Brutus Beefcake with a countout after a slam outside the ring. - **1/2RETURN FOR REVENGE MATCH Missing Link and NEW AGE OUTLAWS d. Larry "The Axe" Hennig and THE MONGOLS when "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn defeated Larry "The Axe" Hennig with a DQ due to a vicious triple team by THE AXE and THE MONGOLS. - **1/2 - This match was a melee from the opening bell and it settled nothing. These men will step into the ring again for sure. BILL APTER'S HOT SEAT With Special Guest - WCCW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION King Harley Race and The Destroyer
The Hot Seat started with King Harley Race coming out to brag about his representing the WCCW in the LWA Championship tournament. Halfway through his rant, the Hot Seat's other guest, THE DESTROYER stormed the set.DESTROYER: Blah, blah, blah blah. Could you shut up for just a half a second? This is the problem with Americans. All talk, no action. Race, I won't deny you've been a fighting champion. You've fought defended this belt in match after match and several times in the confines of a 15 foot high steel cage. But you know what you ain't done Race? You know what you ain't done? You ain't fought me! You ain't ever stepped into the ring with The Destroyer.
RACE: You're right, I 'ain't' stepped into the ring with you because you're below me. You aren't worth my time. I only deal with men who will provide me with a challenge.
DESTROYER: A challenge huh? Well, since I ain't like you, all talk, no action, I'll give you a challenge. How about this? You man up to get in the ring with me and I'll do this...
(In one swift motion DESTROYER reared back and cold cocked RACE with a huge right hand! RACE flew back across the set and nearly wound up on his ass. He caught himself on the desk and straightened up. He charged back up to DESTROYER and got right in his face.)
RACE: Well, you got my attention now boy! You want a match, you got it! But if you want it, it'll be at FINAL DECISION. And if you're losing to me that night, you're ain't going to be in the SOLE SURVIVOR match which means you give up all chances to go to the LWA Tournament.
DESTROYER: I could care less about the LWA. I didn't come to the WCCW to use it as a springboard to the LWA. I came here to dominate the WCCW and putting that belt around my waist is how I'll do that. At FINAL DECISION, your reign as King comes to an end!
RACE: Destroyer, you have no idea what you're stepping into the ring with. FINAL DECISION is going to be your destruction.
DESTROYER: We shall see, but I think one more thing needs to be added to the match.
RACE: Listen punk, I'm the champ, I decide if anything should be added to the match.
DESTROYER: You're right. You're the champ. You should call the shots. I was just thinking that it'd be awfully easy for you to 'escape' dropping that belt to me by getting yourself DQ'd or counted out.
RACE: If you're such a student of my previous matches you should know that's not my style. So just to put your mind at ease I'll agree to a NO DQ/NO COUNTOUT match. What do you think of that Junior.
DESTROYER: I think that's great. Shake on it?
(RACE got right up in THE DESTROYER'S face and extended his palm. THE DESTROYER extended his and shook on it. The CROWD was going nuts. The two stood face to face as we...) WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH - MIDNIGHT EXPRESS d. THE MONGOLS when Stan Lane defeated Geeto Mongol with a side leg sweep that took Geeto out and gave the EXPRESS the pinfall victory - **1/2 - They said they were going to do it and they did! The MIDNIGHT EXPRESS has reclaimed the WCCW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP! As the two men and their manager celebrated in the ring, JIM CORNETTE grabbed the microphone.
CORNETTE: Tonight's win should put the rest of the WCCW, hell the rest of the LWA that the MIDNIGHT EXPRESS is the team to beat! Our victory here tonight should not have been a surprise to anyone! But listen up WCCW, there WILL be a surprise later tonight, but for now, you need to shower respect on Sweet Stan Lane and Beautiful Bobby Eaton....THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS! Your new WCCW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS! Oh and ROAD WARRIORS, we want a rematch! You name the time, you name the place, we'll be there! We're not going to let you continue to think you got the best of us!

(TOM PRICHARD made his way to the ring and grabbed the mic.)
PRICHARD: Wooo! What a night! What a night! You know, who would have thought that at the start of tonight's show I would be standing here, just seconds away from advancing to New York to wrestle for the LWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT belt! All I needed was a little determination and smarts, which I showed in that battle royal earlier. However, I do know that it's not just determination and smarts that will take me to New York and the LWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP. I'll need a little guidance! That's why I'm pleased to announce my new manager, the manager of champions, JIM CORNETTE!
(The CROWD booed loudly as a laughing JIM CORNETTE ran to ringside. He climbed into the ring and took the mic from PRICHARD.)
CORNETTE: Well, well, well, SURPRISE! You see as the manager of the WCCW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS, I figured it was time to expand my horizons. Find a promising young singles star who's career I could mold into championship material! After watching TOM PRICHARD tonight in the battle royal, I've found my guy! Tom Prichard, welcome to CAMP CORNETTE!
(The two shook hands and hugged, laughing.)
CORNETTE: Albano, bring your reject out here so we can get this over with! We've got a plane to New York to catch!

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP NO DQ/NO COUNTOUT MATCH The Destroyer defeated King Harley Race with a pinfall after a beat down while the ref was knocked out. - *** - Match Notes: At the end of the match, the ref got squashed in the corner turnbuckle and was knocked out. RACE covered DESTROYER for way longer than a three count would have taken, but the ref was prone. Suddenly the IRON SHEIK ran to ringside and attacked RACE from behind. SHEIK and DESTROYER then delivered a shocking DOUBLE NECKBREAKER on RACE and as DESTROYER covered RACE, the IRON SHIEK revived the ref who ran over and counted out the one - two - three! THE DESTROYER was now the new WCCW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION, bringing and end to the KING'S reign. After the match, RACE was out cold and DESTROYER and SHIEK made to attack him again when the rest of the KING'S COURT (Larry Hennig & THE ARMSTRONGS) came to ringside to chase them off!
The sight of the KING'S COURT helping the KING back to the locker room was the image we were left with as we...

S.D. JONES: Well, well, well...Did you happen to watch the LWA SUPERCARD back on the 10th?! Did you happen to see me accept the BIG MAN CHALLENGE and destroy that overweight pig, King Kong Bundy? Whoo I tell you that means only one thing, I am the new Big Man in the world of Professional Wrestling! In fact, tonight I will continue my new reign of dominance by destroying Cowboy Bob Orton! So Orton, get out here and get yourself a taste of the K. O. Shuffle!

BILL APTER'S HOT SEAT With Special Guests - New WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION THE DESTROYER and the MISSING LINK!
First out was the MISSING LINK and his manager CAPTAIN LOU ALBANO!
APTER: Well Lou, in recent weeks, it sure seems as if the MISSING LINK has been on a tear.
ALBANO: That's right brother! You saw it, I saw it, the world saw it! The MISSING LINK was the Sole Survivor and went onto the LWF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP Tournament!
APTER: I did want to ask you about that because we did see that LINK was disqualified in his opening match.
ALBANO: I admit it, LINK is a bit hard to control at times, but that's just a testament to his brute strength! There is not a man in the WCCW today that can defeat the Missing Link! He is the BEST in the WCCW today! He can step into the ring with anyone and destroy them.
(Suddenly from the back came none other than former WCCW Heavyweight Champion KING HARLEY RACE.)
RACE: Hold it a minute! Are you kidding me?! The Link is the best in the WCCW? I'm the KING of the WCCW and I can defeat this pathetic excuse for an athlete any time and any place.
ALBANO: Is that right? Well how about right at this very moment in this very ring?
RACE: It'll be my pleasure!
APTER: There you have it fans, looks like THE DESTROYER will be put on hold till next time as we are heading to the ring!
Missing Link d. King Harley Race via pinfall after a FLYING HEADBUTT - ** - RACE was never able to catch his footing in this match. Some said he was too cocky and quickly became overwhelmed with the LINK'S power. Others are saying that they believe that the KING'S reign as the most dominant WCCW Superstar is nearing its end! We will keep an eye on these events as we press forward!
