I read that the PWI Top 500 is going to include women this year. There will be still be a women's 100 for those only competing against women.
I don't like this idea. I don't like intergender matches.
There's just so many things to say about this I'm just going to hold off.

I assume this is because of Tessa.

I think unless they are wrestling at least 50% of their matches against men they should not be on the list. Then again it is sadly mostly a joke anyways. I mean people not near the top can disappear from the list for a year or more because they get overlooked.

I don't mind the intergender matches, if they are done right and the performances don't come off as awkward. Many of the smaller male athletes match up well with the females and can give good shows. ie: Tessa vs Ricochet was very good!
I understand some gripes, but I do believe it isn't going to change things going forward. It's a thing, and it's not necessarily a bad one.

I'm also not a fan of MOST intergender matches. There's exceptions that work. I still don't see the point in moving some women into the 500, unless they spend the majority of their time wrestling men, which doesn't include too many people. It feels like they are doing this for Tessa alone and she's done in Impact.

Did they ever rank Chyna?

They had to have. They ranked Madd Maxine, the girl from Italian Stallion's indy promotion in the early '90s who wrestled men.

“ In 1993, Jacqueline became the first woman to make the PWI 500 at #249, and over the years women have sporadically made the list, such as Chyna (#106 in 2000) and Sara Del Rey (#430 in 2012).”
Apparently Chyna was ranked 6 times.

I don't agree with it at all BUT like Toasterboy said Was Chyna ever ranked ? She was , so why not ? But Tessa has hardly fought , won the title then sort of disappeared . So they fired her .

I can get behind intergender wrestling, if promoters avoid a list of tropes I hate, that always seem to rear their heads in intergender matches...
1) male has to be the heel, and no matter how great of a guy he may be he gets cheap heat by being a totally dismissive misogynistic d-bag 🙄 You should be able to do this with regular characters, not cookie cutter "intergender stereotypes" 2) this weird love of having a 300 pound guy taking on the 100 pound lady, and he having to basically do all the moves to himself A lady needs to be able to deal with the man's weight at a basic level. If she cannot then the match will look bad and potentially be dangerous. 3) the nut shot, huh? The face nut shots the heel usually for the win? Where is that good story telling? oh it is just lazy "the woman needs an advantage". If that's the story your telling I don't want to hear it. 4) the "female empowerment" storyline, the female wrestler is empowered by being in a good match, whether against a male or female opponent, she is held back by a cliche, same old storyline (see number 3)
So avoid these pitfalls and I may well like your intergender match (sadly 90% of local intergender matches are exactly this 👎)
