GWF LiveWire (episode #18)
Matrix Theater
2087-06-14
Commentary: KO Keller and Mighty Grogan
Interview: Thantos
- Thantos addressed his previous title match against Commander Sam, claiming the encounter was much more one-sided than it appeared. When asked who he would prefer as a challenger when he defends the Galaxian Heavyweight Championship on GWF LiveWire in three weeks, he pretended to seriously consider the question. Regardless of who wins the upcoming match between Lord Nexus and Star Warrior, he claimed the end result will be the same. No one has the skill needed to beat the Gamemaster.
Vanity (w/ Killer Queen) defeated Beast-Rider (w/ Renegade) via disqualification.
- Beast-Rider was disqualified due to outside interference.
- Tokens: Vanity 1 - Rider 2
- This was the first individual encounter pitting Vanity against one of his former teammates. Vanity used every underhanded trick he could devise in order to maintain control. Fed up with watching the former Cropper's antics, Renegade broke up a near fall by blatantly smashing Vanity with a chairshot to the face. Queen pulled Vanity to safety before Renegade could do further damage.
Taped Promo: Massif
- Still showing some signs of his recent brush with Bishop Hell, the big man made it clear that he wants a rematch against Bishop Hell when he's done recuperating from his injury. He told Bishop to come back healthy because he didn't want to hear any excuses for being squashed.
Pit Viper & Pulsar defeated Ghengis Khan & Mutant via pinfall.
- Viper pinned Mutant with a VENOM BLAST.
- Tokens: n/a
- Viper was fired up when he hit the ring, tearing into both opponents and giving them little chance to fight back. He tossed Khan aside and focused his attention on Mutant. After dispatching Pulsar with a series of chops on the apron, Khan tried to help his partner. He accidentally nailed Mutant with a karate kick and Viper brought this contest to a swift end.
- Pulsar had to calm Viper down after the match, telling him it was time to focus on their shot at the Galaxian Tag Team Championship that was scheduled for the next episode of GWF LiveWire.
Backstage: Renegade
- Rampaging through the backstage area, Renegade turned the locker rooms upside down in his search for the Neptunian traitor. Inside a storage room, he found a cage with a familiar looking creature inside. Before he could investigate further, someone cracked him across the back of the head with a solid object. By the time he regained consciousness, the closet was empty.
Star Warrior defeated Lord Nexus via pinfall.
- Warrior pinned Nexus with a NOVA LAUNCH.
- Tokens: n/a
- Both competitors displayed flawless conduct and in this fast paced encounter. They shook hands before and after the match as a sign of mutual respect. Claiming an impressive win, Star Warrior secured his shot against Thantos for the Galaxian Heavyweight Championship.
- After the match, Thantos confronted Star Warrior and gestured to the Galaxian Heavyweight Championship belt around his waist. Thantos told Star Warrior that he was barely a student of the game and would never rise to the level of master. Pointing at the prize, Star Warrior said he was going to continue his father's legacy by defeating Thantos for the title.
Closing remarks:
- Keller was impressed with how Lord Nexus and Star Warrior refused to bend the rules in such an important main event, but admitted that he was somewhat disappointed the match ended so quickly. Grogan indicated it was a testament to the ability of Star Warrior, who will receive his title shot on GWF LiveWire in three weeks. Keller reported that GWF LiveWire returns in two weeks with Pit Viper & Pulsar challenging the Gladiators of Aethra for the Galaxian Tag Team Championship!
