Curious what the current opinions on these sets are? I am diving back into the game and am currently working on both a current (or catch up to current) fed and a classic fed with the new color cards. When I stopped playing the last set I had was 2110. I picked up 2119-2123 on COTGOnline when that came out but have not played much of it yet. How are the remaining sets from a gameplay perspective and a lore perspective? Since I am in between eras I feel like I might benefit from picking up some of these to catch up on some of the details I may be missing, but not sure if that is accurate.
The color card pack that came with the 2125 set looks like it has a variety of characters pulled from some of these sets too, so I am a bit concerned if I get those older sets do I already have the bulk of the good stuff. Any thoughts or recommendations of these classic sets (2111-2118,2124) for someone just looking to fill in his collection? Worst case I may add a few to my orders for other products so if any are standout (or ones I should back burner) let me know!

Are you playing online or with cards?

Sorry, should have clarified that point. Thanks for asking...
I prefer the cards, so would be most interested in cards. I tried dipping back into the game via online with that 2119 bundle but my main focus would be cards and dice.

Ok, short answer, since you already have the color card pack 2125 I would go from there. Then once you caught up or whatever I'd go back & fill in the blanks. Create a story line at the end of 2124 to explain why your title is vacant in 2125.
Long answer, the only thing relevant to the current product is the 2116-18 storyline. It became irrelevant in 2119 then to avoid spoiling you, it become relevant again sometime in the future. As for gameplay it speeds up quite a bit past 2125. Multiple finishers and Add 1s. Many cards now have their own unique mechanic which is super cool IMO. Roster sizes are smaller and wrestlers leave after a year or 2 much more than they ever did pre-2119. 2087-2108 gameplay is different than post 2125 IMO & 2109-2124 eases you into the modern style.

Thanks for the input. That roster pack with 2125 seems like it has the "who's who" of the past few years if I am reading things correctly.
Funny you mention that shift in the overall gameplay. I was going to create a thread on that too since its a bit jarring but interesting bouncing between the two eras. I agree the more diverse move sets and mechanics are a benefit, but the overall power creep is noted with all the +1 moves. I was rolling a match with Swarm and between the +1 move and the finishers he was piling fatigue tokens on his opponent. Makes things quite fast paces which is good since time is always a factor these days, but then compare that to a match between two mid tier 2087 guys where things go back and forth a lot. The fatigue tokens are way harder to come by, but more cards have higher PIN ratings to begin with so the odds of a quick finish are up there (compared to two guys with 4(1) ratings).
The older cards have the strong nostalgia factor going but the newer cards all seem to be trying newer things and expanding on the core mechanics which I appreciate too.

2125 has every wrestler who was in the game at the time. Everyone except Hector got some small update in the transition to color.
11-18, that's rougher

I stopped around 2112 so when I came back I tried to jump to 2119 and it didn't last long. It was a lot trying to re-familairize myself with the game and learning a whole new cast. Troy is right (as usual) about 2125 including the current roster for that year.

Are the special edition cards from these sets still available in any format? I was looking at my sets and the corresponding special edition cards and wanted to see if I end up picking some of these sets up that I am missing if there was any way to get the matching SE cards? FOMO kicking in so just wanted to check! I see a generic section to the webstore where maybe they would go but no details are listed: filsingergames.com/product/cotg-black-and-white-special-edition-cards/Is this a catch-all where I could get some of these if I knew what they are? If so, is there any resource for what cards might exist in this year range? Mostly 2111-2118 as I have the other sets in online format so not rushing to get the card version yet. Thank you!

Have most of them, but not all of them released in that time frame.
